 But of course, if I'm SERIOUS, I'll use Metal Knuckles), and Sonic CD...Kinda feels like the GG games are filler, in a way. I don't mean to discredit them - Triple Trouble, what little I've played, seems to be a good enough game - but... couldn't they at least touch up the sound clarity a bit? Of course, it seems that every 2D Sonic game on this collection (all but R and StF) has quieter sound than the Genesis ones, so maybe I'm just not used to that...

Well, ZSNES gives me issues, with Use UDP Connection off and with it on. Diablo 2 gives me issues in TCP/IP. Ditto for Doom. |
But again, I dunno if it's a problem on my end or theirs. I'm leaning towards theirs, since it does work for me with certain people (Waddler in Doom, for example)...

Oh, I can chain normally. My longest chain ever, a x16 (which, compared to some, really isn't impressive at all) was in Endless mode. |

1-2: BE CAREFUL! |
I wasn't. The first part of the level's great. A nice challenge, kept me on my toes. I swiftly reacted to the rotating spiked balls, narrowly dodging them, and bouncing off Ghost Guys with relative ease. Bbut then... then there was the castle. The spiked balls dropping on me, acting as walls between me and Baby Mario. I was eventually pushed past them, and grabbed Baby Mario with Yoshi's tongue. Then, the ride over lava. Right when it ended, right when I jumped onto the ledge, I was hit. Baby Mario went off, over the lava, beyond a flutter jump, and with a thorn poking just below the corner. Thinking quickly, I made an egg of the enemy that ran into me, shot the baby, and grabbed it. All was well again unwil the log ride through the air. I kept my jumps low to avoid ceiling thorns. I kept the log steady to avoid the wall thorns. But one slip up, one barely missed jump, and I missed landing on the log again. All that caught me was the steaming red lava. Damn, Golden Yoshi, that's a hard level. I have to admit, it's very well-made, but it's quite a challenge. I thinjk it's gonna end up challenging me like one of the secrets in the GBA version... the one with the room you have to fall through, the one with the thorns overing in the air, everywhere, watching, waiting for one tiny irreversible mistake. Don't be discouraged by that, it's a very well-made level, and it doesn't rely on cheapness for the difficulty. Its challenge relies solely on skill, not on luck and memorization, and this is good. I didn't play much last night, though, since I was tired. Maybe more today. And if you can't tell, I didn't beat 1-2. (restricted) |

uh, yeah, if combat's an issue, I'd avoid Morrowind. That's really a lot better for exploring... or, if you're an archer, combat's not so bad. |
Personally, I love the game, but I'm not much of a combat-oriented person. I prefer just exploring aimlessly.The expansions, by the way, are Bloodmoon and Tribunal. And since Fable: The Lost Chapters isn't out yet (unless I missed something...), I wouldn't go by how long it's "supposed" to be. IIRC, Fable was "supposed" to be longer... For a x16 combo, you just gotta get lucky. I can never do 'em in 2-player anyway. In 2-player, I usually hit people with a shitload of x3-7s. |
Of course, everyone's got their own style of playing. Some people go for huge chains. Others, swarms of smaller blocks. Figure out a strategy, and if you want to, I'll play a few practice games with you. As far as I know (that being personal experience), HIryuu's the only one you gotta worry about... Xkeeper, too. He and I played earlier; that ended 4-3, him winning.

Probably. Well, at least everyone should have a fair match in the first round. Once I get the brackets made, just for kicks I'll be taking bets on what the results look like. Keep that in mind. Oh, I didn't mean it that way. The thing about that level is that it takes more skill than I'm used to in YI - and that's a good thing. It doesn't rely on blindly jumping and hoping you hit a platform, it doesn't require you to make multiple (or even any, as far as I've seen) 1-block jumps. It just requires you to be careful (as the level says, actually) and watch what you're doing. |
More hacks should do that. It's a bit unbalanced, difficulty-wise, but that's not such a huge problem. The original was a good bit too easy, so it's a nice change. And sorry about the description. I get a bit carried away sometimes.
