Well, we're talking mostly first through fourth graders using these computers

Oh, and I almost forgot, no Oregon Trail since this one has been any good at all. In fact, they suck. This or nothing.

The "Loading" would look a lot better in a stencil font, especially a sci-fi-type stencil font, like Spacedock.

JDavis, meanwhile was checking out an assortment of quivers. Finally, he found a green (almost turquoise) golf bag that was about his size. After removing a golf club with a bent shaft, a baseball bat with a large chunk missing, a cricket bat, and a hockey stick, he removed his shield and tried it on.

JDavis: Oooo a nice fit, and this strap is quite comfortable. Hey, shop-keep, can I see a bundle of those arrows?

Eyeing JDavis with clear suspicion that he wasn't going to be able to pay for all this, the shopkeeper handed him the bundle of arrows. JDavis placed them in the main part of the bag, and was quite pleased with the results. The arrows didn't stick out the end of the bag, like they would with an actual quiver, but the feathered ends were right at the opening, easily grab-able.

JDavis: Perfect. And with the pockets on the side of this bag, I'll be able to store other stuff as well. Hmm... But I can't carry the shield and this... Not that I'd realistically be able to use the shied alongside my bow and arrows anyway. *glances at Hikari and Teddylot for a sec* The thing's so large, I'm barely able to use it, so giving it to them's not gonna work. Hey, shopkeep!

Shopkeeper: *sigh* Yes?

JDavis: How much are you willing to pay for this shield?

The shopkeeper looks at the shield for a second. Though slightly dented in a couple spots, it could clearly withstand mostly anything that could be thrown at it. He then looks at the bag and arrows JDavis has been looking at. The arrows aren't really worth much, and it's not like he'd get a very good offer on that shabby old bag any time soon.

Shopkeeper: I'd say it's about an even trade.

JDavis: Sweet! Deal!

JDavis promptly pulls a bag of rupees out of his pockets, and tosses it to Hikari.

Jack: Wow, indeed.

Jack and Fem weren't wasting any time; they flew down the pipe before Kirby could get to it. After arriving on the other end, they quickly spotted a Puni a short distance away. It was a light gray color, with a couple dark gray stripes. It had thick brown eyebrows over its googly-eyes, and its antenna ball glowed a brilliant white.

Fem: Look, a Puni!

The Puni: Hmm? *turns to Jack and Fem* What's it to you?

The Puni: That's it!

The Puni runs toward Jack, jumping into the air in a spinning motion.

Jack: *dodges* Acro Circus?

The Puni bounces of the wall, landing just in front of Jack. He proceeds to stand on just one of his legs, and kick Jack rapidly in the shin.

Jack: Dragon Feet? *shakes head* Hey, stop that. We aren't looking for a fight, we-

The Puni: Well you've found one!

Jack: *sigh*

???: There you are!

A second Puni ran into the room through a crack. This one was dark gray with light gray stripes. His dark blue eyebrows weren't as thick as the first Puni's, and his antenna ball was a blue color.

The First Puni: What do you want, Piki?

Piki: Punio, much as I hate to ask for your help, the Tree is under attack!

Punio: What!? By who!?

Piki: Strange metal things with only one eye, and yo-yos!

Jack: Ugh, why am I not surprised?

Piki: They've captured a huge amount of us Puni, including Pami! They say they're looking for some kind of 'star' thing.

Punio: I don't care about your girlfriend, but I'm not about to let some metal punks attack the tree. *looks at Jack* You sound like you know something about this.

Jack: It seems we have a common enemy. If you'll stop attacking us for five seconds, we'll help you.

As I said to myself when I first read this on IGN, "THIS HAD BEST BE A #@%&ING TRANSLATION ERROR!"

I had been hoping that, as evidence in the trailer shows, Zelda '05 might tell the story of The Imprisoning War. For those not obsessed enough to know, The Imprisoning War is the war between Ganondorf and Hyrule mentioned in LttP's story. Before I go further, let me explain the Zelda timelines (plural) that I follow.

Timeline 1: Ocarina of Time (The whole game) --------> Wind Waker.

Timeline 2: Ocarina of Time (Early part of the game) & Majora's Mask (& Imprisoning War) -> Minish Cap -> Four Swords & Four Swords Adventures -> Link to the Past, the Oracle games, & Link's Awakening -> (Time of Chaos) -> Legend of Zelda & Zelda 2.

Now, I've got some 'splainin' to do. Some spoiler-tastic 'splainin'

Spoiler:
When Zelda sends Link back in time at the end of OoT, it causes a split in the timeline. This should have been immediately noticeable.. People all over Hyrule are celebrating Ganondorf's defeat, but if Link had changed the past, it would have been instantaneous and there would be no defeat to celebrate.

Anyway, one timeline (Timeline 1) continues along after Ganondorf's defeat. One hundred years later, he returns and there's no Link to fight him. Blah blah blah, the world gets flooded, etc. All that stuff from Wind Waker.

The other timeline (Timeline 2) is what we see at the very end of OoT, with Link returning to the past. There is an oddity here, as Link arrives on the Pedestal of Time, which was not accessible until after Zelda had fled, yet Zelda is still in the garden. Anyway, since Zelda was in the garden looking in that window, we can assume he arrived at the time when they first met. Knowing everything that happened the first time, Link would not recollect the spiritual stones. I'm sure he'd defeat King Dodongo and save Princess Ruto again, but he wouldn't collect the stones, and he wouldn't let Ganondorf into the Sacred Realm.

Sometime shortly after his return (a year at most) he accidentally goes on his adventure in Termina. Nothing major happens here, but we know it's right after OoT.

Now, you're probably wondering why I placed Minish Cap and the Four Sword games where I did. That all boils down to two things. First, Ocarina of Time has been official stated as occurring first, so none of the MC/FS games can be before it. Second, in FSA we see the Dark World and Pig Ganon. Now, the Dark World was created during the time of The Imprisoning War, when Ganondorf obtained the Triforce, causing the Sacred Realm to mutate based on the dark wishes of his heart. This is also what turned Ganondorf into Ganon. But when Link gets the Triforce at the end of LttP, the Sacred Realm is (presumably) returned to normal, and all that were trapped there are returned to the normal world (as seen in the credits). So in order for these things to be present in FSA, it'd have to be set between The Imprisoning War (which would be after MM, since Ganondorf isn't immortal until he gets the Triforce (or at least the Triforce of Power, as seen in the other Timeline)) and LttP. Anyway, moving on..

Now, as for why I place the Oracle games between LttP and LA, Link was returning to Hyrule from a far-away land by ship in LA. When you beat both Oracle games (using one's password when starting the other) the ending clearly shows Link leaving Holodrum/Labrynna by ship. Also, Aghanim appears in the Oracle games.

The Time of Chaos between LA and LoZ need some explaining... Not much information on it from the games. I'm pretty certain "Time of Chaos" is a fan-term, for that matter. In any case, it refers to events that we know happened. It is during this time that a King of Hyrule hid the Triforce of Courage in the Valley of Death. His son, the Prince, was power hungry, and being influenced by a dark sorcerer (possibly Aghanim). So when he (the King) died, he told only his young daughter, Princess Zelda, where the Triforce of Courage was. The Prince tried to get his sister to tell him, but she refused. So the sorcerer put a spell on Princess Zelda, causing her to fall into a deep sleep from which she might never awaken. Some time after all this, something happened led to Hyrule breaking up into several smaller countries, only one of which would retain the name Hyrule.

Then, of course, there's the Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2.

Anyway, to be direct, I hope this is a fault in translation, and that Aonuma was referring to the Zelda for the DS, or he meant that it was the next 3D Zelda after Wind Waker instead of anything having to do with the story.

I stand by my statement that the minish cap is after the Oracle games. The Din figurine says she's a dancer from Holodrum, thus Minish Cap couldn't possibly be earlier, much less several games earlier as you say :x Anyway, Four Swords have the six maidens, so they have to be around the same time as LttP... But, Zelda knows who Link is in it, so it thus has to be after. Plus, while the area is called the dark world, it's not particularly dark, as it would be beforehand; just look at it, it looks rather normal. Thus there's no reason it can't be after LttP.

1) It's not the same Din. Like a vast majority of the characters in these games, the Oracle girls are presumably reborn every so often.

2) The maidens just means it's also after the Imprisoning War. It's not the same Zelda/Link as those in LttP. And after LttP, Link brings the Triforce back to Hyrule Catle, where it kept for pretty much the rest of the series (except for the Triforce of Courage which is later hidden away). If FSA was after LttP, Vaati would have got the Triforce (he was looking for it in MC, after all), but there's no signs of it being anywhere to be found. For that matter, Ganon gets his Trident in FSA, and the Gorons and Gerudo are still around (who have, near as we can tell, left Hyrule altogether in LttP). And stop refering to Four Swords Adventures as Four Swords. They're two seperate games, FSA being set right after FS.

JDavis, I haven't read your whole post due to possible spoilers for games I haven't finished yet, but Ocarina of Time IS the Imprisoning War. The truth differs from the legend (although not as much as the backstory of ALttP suggests, due to mistranslations in the manual).

EDIT: And what the heck is this 'Time of Chaos'? Nothing like that is even suggested in the games, try to avoid making things up.

3) There are a great deal of similarities, but OoT's ending cannot be the Imprisoning War. Besides it not being a war, the maidens of LttP are the decendants of the sages that sealed Ganon away in The Imprisoning War. Unless you want to tell me a Goron, Zora, and Kokiri all managed to have human decendants, particularly after they'd sealed themselves off in the sacred realm, I'd like to hear you explain that.

4) And if you READ the explination, you'd know that the Time of Chaos is simply the term I use for the events detailed in Zelda 2's backstory, about the sleeping Zelda and Hyrule breaking up.

Edit: And Link had to change the past. If he didn't, he'd be too busy being asleep for 7 years to go to Termina and save it, so

No, as you know, after defeating Ganon, Link was sent back to the past by Zelda to 'regain his lost time'. This is when he went to Termina.

Others have said this as well, but it never went over with me. Zelda would not return to Hyrule Castle after she had fled with Impa. There is no logic to it at all.

Now, I'll read that article...

Okay, article read. It makes several valid points, all of which I already knew. I still stick by me dual-timeline since there's no good place where Wind Waker would make sense at the moment (maybe this new Zelda will clear that up).

The way the Imprisoning War goes in my dual-timeline is that despite Link not just letting Ganondorf into the Sacred Realm, he finally does find a way in, gets the Triforce of Power, and starts a shorter reign of evil than the one in OoT. Then Link awakens the Sages and stuff goes down pretty much the same as in OoT.

I was never really against OoT being the Imprisoning War for the inconsistancies mentioned in that article. I was more against it because of Wind Waker. Prior to WW's release, we wouldn't even be having this arguement. I believed then that when Zelda sent Link back in time, there were then two Links inhabiting the same time period (one who was still going about collecting the Stones and would eventually sleep for seven years, and one who had already done all that and got sent back in time). The second Link then left Hyrule on Epona (who he would later send back to Hryule so she'd be there when his other self awoke) and accidentally ended up in Termina after a run-in with the Skull Kid.

Wind Waker threw a wrench in the works. It'd be right after OoT/MM, and its ending doesn't much allow that to make sense. They'd have to find a new Hyrule which would somehow miraculously mirror the original, and Ganondorf is busy being a big hunk of rock with the Master Sword in his eye. They can't simply make a new Master Sword, it was made long ago by ancient sages under the advice of the Goddesses. So unless this new Zelda explains how they found a new Hyrule that just happens to be a near-match of the original, and how Ganondorf came back to life and they got the Master Sword back, I'm keeping WW seperate.

Minagi: Ahh!

Minagi's back arched involuntarily in response to the sudden unexpected pain. Equally unfortunately, she caught up with Kirbynite's warpstar just as she straightened herself. Her head collided with it violently, sending it off in an odd direction as she started to spin end-over-end, out of control.

It wasn't clear yet if she had been knocked unconscious, when Jack suddenly appeared out of nowhere above her. He had both hands clenched together above his head, but the didn't stay there. In one quick motion he hit Minagi in the side of her head, changing her course slightly, and greatly altering her spin. She was now spinning about so fast, and at so odd an angle, that she seemed to be one large blurry sphere.

Jack: Now, Kirb!

----------

JDavis and Washu finally reached the bottom level of the Souja. Washu lead JDavis to a room off to the side of the corridor, which seemed to be filled with all sorts of odd computers.

Washu: These are all just for show, they don't actually do anything from this side. Plus, as you will notice, since you're familiar with my technology, their displays and interfaces and everything are backwards.

JDavis: Clearly. Now I assume we're going to project our astral forms into the reverse dimension?

Washu: Naturally. If we went there physically we'd be trapped.

JDavis: Yes, yes, I remember well enough. Shall we go ahead, then?

Washu: Of course.

And with that, the two seemed to just stare into space. However, they suddenly had reflections in the shiny floor, and they were not so stationary.

Washu reflection: *walks over to one of the computers and presses a few buttons* There. Souja has come to a complete halt.

JDavis reflection: *pressing some buttons on a different computer* Altering course.. Done.

Washu reflection: *another button or two* Okay, we've got fifteen minutes to get Melvin and Draco and get out.

Their reflections fade, and JDavis and Washu stop staring off into space and head out the door.

Well, the whole idea was they thought it was okay to let Ganondorf go about his business, since he couldn't get to the Sacred Realm (even if he did get the Stones and Ocarina, only the Hero can remove the sword). Then Ganondorf found some other way to enter the Sacred Realm, so they had to seal him up anyway.

However, you've made too many valid points In that post for me to ignore... Rethinking must be done.

Okay, it's all one unchanging timeline. When Zelda sends Link back in time (to shortly after Ganondorf entered the Sacred Realm) at the end of OoT, he doesn't awaken in the past with memories of the future like he normally does, he is literally de-aged and sent back in time (meaning there's also the other existing in the same time period, sleeping in the Chamber of the Sages). First he goes and meets up with Zelda, who has returned to Hyrul Castle. Presumably he warns her that Ganondorf is going to be back and take over. He might even tell her all the events of the future. He gives her back the Ocarina of Time that he had with him (the other Link still has his) temporarily, and they basically hang out for a while. Then he finally decides to leave, and also has to find Navi, so she gives him the Ocarina back.

After he goes to Termina and everything, he doesn't return to Hyrule until after Ganondorf is sealed away and his other self gets sent back in time, if then. The Legend in WW's opening says he never returned, but if he came back many years later he could have just not been recognized.

As for the Door of Time, he doesn't actually close it (if he did, it wouldn't be open when his future self wakes up!), and there really wouldn't be much point to doing so anyway. Removing the Master Sword from the Pedestal of Time is supposed to be the only way into the Sacred Realm. It's not necisarily the only way out. By LttP, when the Sacred Realm has been the Dark World for a long time, the many entrances to it do not also act as exits.

As for how things go from Wind Waker's ending to how they are in the other games... that's a question for Zelda '05 to answer.
