| The entire battleground shook, as a great and powerful being entered the fray. The being was mounted on a glowing star, and sported a yellow backpack, a red baseball cap, and a striped referee shirt. He lept off the star and landed in the center of it all. Kirbynite: TIIIIIIIME OUT! Alright, guys... This isn't real fighting. It's something you'd see in an instant messaging chat. You don't go around saying "*kills his opponent*" and continue believing that you're doing a Sim-Battle. You need to put more thought and detail into your actions. Now, I don't mind the occasion trash talk, but when your trash talking seems to fill up most of actions you've done, then it starts getting ridiculous. The pink creature pulled out a projector and a screen. He turns on the projector, and starts pointing at random diagrams. Kirbynite: If you're gonna block, say how you're blocking. If you're ducking, make it look spiffy.. InuYasha had something nice going on with that Backlash Wave attack.. You guys should try doing something along the lines of that.. The Dreamlander hopped onto the glowing star. He waved his pointer and gave everyone a glare. Kirbynite: If I have to come back here again, I'm gonna close the fight, ok? If you have any questions... PM me, or go ask in the FAQ thread. And with that, Kirbynite zoomed off. He purposely left the projector and screen. They were to serve as reminders for the warriors. |

| Glaring at his comrades for being stuck in an offline trance for so long, Kirbynite decided to take action. Using his remembered Deku ability of spitting bubbles, the wooden Dreamlander shot a bubble at the balloon. The balloon popped, revealing another path. Kirbynite: Just how far is this observatory?! |

| Hikari removes her barrel, and brushes her hair a bit. She then takes out the map and gives it another examination. Hikari: Hm... Yep. That was the normal route. Our only bet is to kinda... go out through that window.. and scale the tower. I hope we took out enough spotlights... I want my weapon back! Hikari started walking towards the window sill with great reluctance... |

| Hikari's eyelashes moved down a bit. Her eyes were now giving the ninja a dull look. Hikari: Alright, then, ya scalywags. I'll show you it takes a woman to be swashbuckling! *nod nod* The little purple girl promptly leapt onto Jarukoth's head. However, she jumped back inside, pulling Jarukoth down. Hikari: There's a spotlight aimed around this window! We're gonna have to be quick about it... and wait for the break in the pattern... *sighs* Hikari slowly popped her head out of the window. The spotlight was gone. She quickly took the opportunity to scramble up the wall, using the unusually well placed crevices to climb up. |

| Clapping is heard above the two fighters. Hovering above the metallic battlefield, sitting ontop of a glowing star, Kirbynite watches the two fighters act out the popular shounen fantasy. The Dreamlander fixes his red cap before he stands up, showing off his striped referee shirt. Kirbynite: "I just wanna say that you guys are doing a lot better than last time. However, I think you guys should split up your sentences a bit. You know.. like making paragraphs. I'm sure you guys don't want to come back one day and see a slew of words that's harsh on the eyes  "By the way, Ixion, try being a bit more specific. If you're gonna transform into Oozaru, try explaining what it looks like in a sentence or two. You could say something like... Kirbynite, takes off his cap and removes his yellow backpack. Long, spikey hair flows out of Kirbynite revealed scalp while his now uncovered tail whips about. The warrior gives out a mischeavious laugh as he holds out his arm. Grinning, Kirbynite focuses on the tip of his arm. His eyes are locked on a suspicious, white light that appears before him. Before giving his opponent a chance to gaze upon the light, Kirbynite smacked both of his arms together. The light dissipitated into nothing. Kirbynite collapsed onto the ground. His muscles began bulging through his shirt, as golden fur ripped through the clothing material. In a short span of time, The fighter became a golden Oozaru, a giant, gorrila-like creature with a tail. "See? Doesn't that look cooler? I'd think twice if I wanna deal with someone like that. Try working a bit more on how things happen. Put in everything you see in your head. If you're ripping your clothes, how are you going to hide your tail? I certainly hope it's not in a place where the sun doesn't shine. "I hope I enlightened the both of you. " And with that, Kirbynite performs a bow, and promptly spits out a tiny star out of his mouth. He reverts to his normal Dreamlander self. He then lunges forward, making sure he doesn't fall off his own Warp Star, and quickly captures the tiny ability star inside a glass jar. The Dreamlander finally looks upward and flies away from the battlefield. |

| Still observing the events, Tetra leans forward in her wooden chair inside her ship's cabin. Tetra: ~Hey! What are you guys doing?! You're supposed to be going up the spiraling staircase around the north tower!~ Hikari: Change of plans, miss captain. Besides... they really wouldn't expect us to be coming in like this. The little round girl kept her mouth as she reached the top. It wasn't really the top of the tower, but they had atleast gotten pretty far. Hikari noticed that there was a distracted bokoblin walking about, with a huge machete in his hand. Not wasting any time, Hikari pulled herself up, and grabbed onto the bokoblin's right leg. The guard tripped forward, basically kissing the granite. Hikari wasn't done, however. She released her grip on the edge, but kept her grasp on the bokoblin's leg consistant. The guard and the purple girl both started falling off the side of the tower. Hikari released the bokoblin, who started flailing his arms like crazy. Hikari immediately flapped her arms and tried to grab onto the wall. Hikari: Oof! Oi... Give... me a moment... I can't pull myself up... |

| Something I just realized aside from the fact that there's a full moon hiding behind all those clouds.... Hurricanes are kinda boring. When Sion and his brother were with me during Frances, we were having lots of fun, despite being couped up in the house. Now, all I've got is just this laptop to myself, headphones on my ears due to the fact that I heard spring coil noises from above my room, and a severe head cold that makes me want to install a faucet to the side of my head so that I can drain all the snot. I'd do some gaming, but thanks to my cold and thanks to the fact that my job was swamped, I'm too sore to be moving my hands in a gamely manner.  Edit: Bah... I've got no power now. I'm stuck dealing with dialup and using my car as my laptop's charger. Atleast I've gotten some good Pokemon gaming in.... *sighs* The hurricane's kinda still in my area, so I shouldn't start expecting power until like... tomorrow. Hey, Anya.. where ye be? Edit at 09-26-04 11:00 PM : Gah... I just realized why I'm so fond of the air conditioner. The humidity is taking its toll on my beautiful pictures that Nakase drew for me.  Man... I hope I can get into work tomorrow... This is sure boring ... The one that involved the future children of his own little troupe's. "Heh... They called me crazy.. but I was right.. The scripts aren't set in stone. It's just something to help direct... But... then that means... There's the huge possibility where.. I might not be able to find my light.. " Kirbynite's eyes disappeared underneath his red cap's shadow. Something was troubling him. "Wait! This isn't the time for me to be worrying about stuff related to me." Kirbynite: *stands up* Hey! Four-eyes! (Well, they're more like tiny sun glasses) Don't you know it's wise not to be saying something like that? It's just gonna incite anger and hidden power.. and... and such! | And finally, our heros has found their way past all the "seemingly impossible but riddled with weaknesses" hardships. Kirbynite, not wasting any more time, stepped through the final door. | To my understanding, you have to have played the previous Star Ocean games to really like this game from the start. Unfortunately, me and Sion kinda share a similar opinion. And since we've never played the previous games, I guess our views are from a SO newcomer's perspective. The graphics are great... The voice acting... I think it was pretty good.. except for the rampant pauses in everyone's speech... I was having trouble trying to get a grip on the story. I wasn't really ready to be getting the feeling that I was watching something with a very anime-ish feel to it. Took me a long to time to get adjusted to it. For the first five hours, I was constantly telling Sion that the game sucked. It was a bit of an exageration, but it was my way of saying that I've been spoiled on other games and this feels slightly like step down. I wasn't too thrilled on the fighting and the way statistics are thrown around. However, after a while, the game grew on me. The story seemed to have finally drawn me in, and we had discovered some secrets in fighting. The fighting felt more fun when you have more moves. You have to kind of use strategy in fighting.. And the gun toting character joined the group! Oh! I had so much fun playing as her! (I thought the wanna-be ninja was gonna be fun, but the ninja proved me otherwise )But yeah.. all in all.. I think it's a great game, it just takes a bit to get settled in... And you have to get used to being a one person team, since whoever you're controlling seems to be almost useless in battle (even with different AI settings) unless you level up to the point where you're stronger than the enemies. I don't know if we had bad luck, but it just drove me nuts. |
