I think they've overpriced the classic NES games. I'm not going to buy such a simple game like Ice Climber for $20. Maybe Super Mario Bros. or Legend of Zelda, but the others are overpriced.

My family thinks my brother has Autism... some very rare form that is not severe. He is 8 years old. He has many friends. His intelligence surpasses everyone else in his class-- he reads at 5th grade level, but is in 2nd grade. He can even run MS-DOS. He knows more about outer space that me. He does not like change- we went on vacation for 12 days to Disney World, and he didn't enjoy being away from home until the last few days. He won't compromise when he wants something. If anything doesn't go his way, he has a crying fit. I'm learning to cope with his condition... but it's still painful if I beat him on MarioKart... he hates to lose. He will be checked for Autism this winter. They're taking him to a children's hospital. Those are some things I know about his case of it. It's hard to live with.

I can barely run any DOS games in Windows 98's DOS 7.10. Here's a few that I really want to play. If you have ideas on how to get them working, tell me. I can't exit to DOS because my optical mouse won't work in DOS. And don't recommend DOSbox-- my PC is 450 mhz and can't handle it.

Jazz Jackrabbit: Runtime error 200 when I run it in Win98 or DOS. Can't boot clean because I can only boot to the GRUB boot manager for linux. F8 won't work anymore.

Lemmings 2 The Tribes: Freezes on memory check, I think you need a Fat16 partition but I can't risk ****ing up the HD again(after the Linux incident) Any other ideas?

Lemmings Chroncles/All New World of Lemmings: "Cannot calibrate timer." Maybe my PC is too fast.

I'm sure to think of more later. Please help. Thanks.

Posted on 07-27-04 02:25 AM, in Bob in : The Krasaak Battles Link
There was once a man named Bob. He was walking down the street when a strange creature came up to him. It said, "Halt! Stop right there! We need you to commit suicide, or die." Bob replied, "And you are...who?" The creature grunted, "I am Krakaa, from the planet Krasaak. You must die now for our sacrifices, so the robot-hedgehogs may live."

"I SHALL NOT DIE!" Bob screamed. He jumped into the air. At the same time, another robot hedgehog ran around the corner, shouted, "You won't kill him, Krakaa! I'll just send him off so I can kill YOU!" and fired his gun at Bob. Bob was warped through space to an alien world. He stood in place wondering where he was. A minute later, the hedgehog that transported him away appeared. "Drat," he said, "Krakaa got away again. You're on planet Krasaak, and I need you for our plan. A human is nescessary."
"What plan?" Bob asked. "To kill me?" "No," the hedgehog said. "I'm one of the rebelling hedgehogs of this planet. We try to stop human killings, but want you to help. We must get to the giant city, Kotora, and kill the current king. Krakaa just happens to be the king, and we must kill him and save your race. Come with me, and help."
"OK," Bob said.
"We must now get through these mountains to the base, where we'll assemble our forces. This area is full of guards and turrets, so I'll give you this light saber to help. By the way, my name is Shadsonowic. I will see you at the other sidew of the mountains. Good luck!"
Shadsonowic dashed away, leaving Bob to begin his quest alone.

---

That's all for now. Add on to it. BTW, the robot-hedgehogs look like Shadow the Hedgehog from Sonic Adventure 2, but with random colors and robotic plated eyes, with no eyeballs.

EDIT: I think this things in the wrong format, maybe I'll get 'round to fixing it soon.

My computer is a Pentium 2/450--- I don't think it's too fast, maybe it's cause Lemmings Chronicles was designed for hardware like a 486/33, and maybe can't slow down a game. DOSbox is a slug, I've tried it. These games a basically protected mode and need a 1 GHZ computer to run well. Either way, Lemmings Chronicles is reported not working at the website. I can't risk messing with my HD anymore for Fat16 games... I nearly rendered my PC unusable when I tried making a Linux partition. I might give it a shot, but I still dunno. Maybe my brother will be nice... he has a 486DX2/66 PC with DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. If I can get at his PC, I'll use the last 35 MB of his 512MB harddrive for these game that used to run well on mine.

Bob walked forward on the strange mountain. He wondered why both hedgehogs had left so quickly. He looked ahead and saw an explosion. He yelled and ran towards that blast. As soon as he'd gone 20 yards, a laser went past his face. He turned and saw a turret. Bob jumped up and slashed the turret. He continued in this manner until he got to the last mountain, above the blast. He stepped on a loose rock and fell down the mountain. "Arrrgghhh!" Bob yelled as he bumped down the slope. He hit the bottom with a thud. He got up and stared at the sight he saw. It was the base of the rebels. Apparently, it had just been destroyed. Pieces of hedgehog lay on the ground. Computers were crushed. Bob was startled by a voice. "This is all that's left," Shadsonowic said. "There were hundreds of rebels, but now, there are only five. We've been wrecked by the blasted servant of Krakaa, Crunchora. He's huge, and just ripped through here while I was gone. That's why I left so quickly. I sensed him coming. I think Mininic did too. I've got to show you the survivors." he took Bob to another cave. Sitting around were four hedgehogs. "Hey, guys, we have our human. He needs to know you guys." The hedgehogs lined up. Shadsonowic went down the row, ringing of their names. "Sonikk. Mininic. Refracta. KsoftFusion. And then me, Shadsonowic. That's all that's left of us." Suddenly, they heard a crunching. The ceiling began to fall, and Bob saw a giant hedgehog in the cave's opening. It was Crunchora. "You fools won't escape now," he said. "Oh yeah?" Bob yelled. He took out his sword and dove for Crunchora. The hedgehogs followed.

I've been wanting to change my theme in Windows 98 for a while. I finally did it, and everything went fine. I played a full screen game and when I exited, it had reset my title bar font to Abadi Condensed. I changed it back. Fine it's fixed, I thought. I shut it down for the night. When I returned in the morning, the font had AGAIN reset to Abadi Condensed. What the heck is going on? This happens every time I set the font for the titlebar to something other than that.

I did plenty of dumb stuff.

When I was two, my family was in a very fancy restaurant, I farted softly, and then stood up on my chair, and screamed at the top of my lungs, "I FARTED!!!!" Everyone stared at me for the rest of the time I was there.

Why I was 7 I used the front brake on my bike only instead of both when I was going 20mph+. This caused me to flip over my handlebars and hit the pavement. Then my bike landed on me. I was a bloody mess for about a month. Had about 14 bandages.

In first grade I was talking to someone in the hall. They walked away, and I walked backwards. (I'd been on the way to the restroom, I thought it was behind me.) I ended up in the girls' restroom. I kinda miss the screaming from that one. No one knows except me and the girls that were in there, and now you guys.

I could write a novel on hoow many stupid things I've done, but these I remember best.

Mininic jumped up high, and was hit my one of Crunchora's claws. He fell to the ground, unconcius and bleeding. Refracta turned around and saw Mininic. He yelled and was hit by a rock. Sonikk ran to the two and rushed them away.
KsoftFusion yelled, "Hey! That's it!" He whsipered something to Shadsonowic. The two hedgehogsgrabbed each other's hand, and yelled, "Chaos Summon!" Bob saw a crack tear through the ground and then something hit Crunchora. Crunchora fell dead, and Bob saw the KsoftFusion and Shadsonowic fall to the ground, all their energy used up. Bob started running to see if they were dead, but a blinding light stunned him. He felt something strike him, and then he blacked out.

It's saved in the theme all right, because it set the font to one that isn't Abadi. I guess I have some bug that no one else has had.

1. Sometimes, when I boot my computer (6 year old P2/450) it will make a funny humming noise. It sounds like a mix betweem the computer accessing a CD and loudly accessing a floppy. It hasn't hurt my computer, but I don't know if it's a bad sign.

2. The same computer will also randomly try and access the floppy drive. At least once a day, the floppy drive will start making noise and the light will flash, but there's no disk in there.

3. On another computer, I just installed Mandrake Linux 10. I chose the correct mouse in setup, the mouse worked in setup, and then I boot up and the mouse won't go. I tried pressing the Windows key to get the menu (in KDE) and used the arrows to try and get to the control panel to reconfigure it. I go to Settings (is that the name?) then Configuration (is that the name also? My mind sucks), and then the menu closes instantly. All other menus embedded that far stay open.

I would appreciate any help.

Well, it IS an 6-year-old powerstrip. Haven't dampened it yet. But I'll try. I do have a virus scanner, so I'll check. Hmm.

I want to install some software, but I don't want it to show up in the Add/Remove Programs menu. This is because my dad always opens up Add/Remove Programs and uninstalls things that he doesn't know what they are. How do you remove it from the control panel?

Posted on 10-04-04 03:32 PM, in Sound Card Detection Link
I've been messing with my brother's 486 to play old games. Most of these games can't identify to sound card. For example, if I play Transport Tycoon, it works fine if I pick the Sound Blaster option for sound, and Sound Blaster/Adlib FM for music. The problem is, in the game it doesn't play sound. The game's sound volume is all the way up. The sound card is an odd brand. It identifys itself as a "Voyetra Sound 144AM". What sound card is an equivalent of this in DOS programs and games?

I don't run any DOS apps in Windows (it's 3.11 for Workgroups, BTW), and always exit into DOS. But I'll be looking for more info on this sound card. That's what we got for buying a cheap pc...

EDIT: Damnit! I spent a long while looking and only found serial numbers for Voyetra Sound Station or something. I'll keep looking.

Yep, It's me, with more problems.

That little Automatic Updates thing is bugging me to install updates. It says it requires to accept a EULA. I'm suspecting this is SP2, so I want to know: Should I download it? Is it worth it?

I have DSL, so the download's not the problem. It's the pack itself.

Well crap. I just got up, booted the computer, and noticed that the boot screen is different. I right-click on My Computer once I've logged in, and now it says my computer has SP2. My dad must have installed it last night. I've tested some apps and games, they seem to work fine. I'll see if my control freak dad will let me disable Windows Firewall. We already have a McAfee Firewall.

Ever since installation of Windows XP SP2, I've been unable to run any 16-bit Windows programs. (or DOS programs, but I use DOSbox anyways) Whenever I try running a 16-bit program, like the Microsoft Arcade or Wingroove, it gives me the following message:

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Close to terminate the application."

I think SP2 screwed up AUTOEXEC.NT. Anyone know what's wrong, or how to fix it?

Um, there's a little problem...

Explorer crashes whenever I use Search! This has happened since we got it. Seems like every copy of Windows XP has a problem somewhere. My friend's XP computer can't use Log Off! He must Switch Users and then in another name, use Task Manager to log them off. Hmmf

Know any good tools for searching the HD?
