Force matches counterforce as Janus tries to use his whirlwind technique while Odin's dragging him down. It'll be interesting, indeed, to see what happens when Janus attempts to whirl into a tornado while Odin's holding the hammer.

Sion, sorry for the late reply, but if you do those crunches that work the sides of your stomach, you can take care of the lower abs.

Basically, you just do a normal crunch, but you bring your elbow to the opposite knee of the side you're working on, and do reps of that. Switch sides when you want to do a different muscle.

It also helps if you do leg lifts instead of crunches. Just lay flat on your back and lift your legs a few inches off the ground, and hold them there. To do reps, just spread your feet to about shoulder length (SLOWLY; if you do it fast it kinda loses the toning effect), and then close them as fast as you spread them with. Trust me, it's a hellish exercise, but after a while, wehn you get used to it, you start to really see results.

I have difficulties working my lower abs too, though. Sometimes these exercises just don't work. If anyone's got any other suggestions, I get the feeling I won't be the only one grateful for them.

Ah, and now that I think of it, this isn't really to do with food and fitness, but do any of you have an opinion in regards to medications and perscription drugs?

And the two weapons locked! Janus raised an eyebrow and grinned, having landed on his feet and caught the sword in the crook of his hammer. The metal handle was clenched tightly in both of his hands as he held fast against Odin's counterattack. More witty banter? With his meager strength, he certainly couldn't attack without getting a sword sandwich, so why not...

"Now then, let's talk. You're very powerful, probably every bit as powerful as me. You've been taught by some of the strongest warriors in the universe. I'll get straight to the point. I need guys like you."

His grip began to falter ever so slightly. Janus had to talk fast, or move fast, and he still ahdn't though of an escape from this yet...

"I scratch your back, you scratch mine. If there's anything I can do to get your help, just say the word."

An opening occured to him, but he wasn't ready for it yet. He slid the crook of his hammer ever so slightly closer to the hilt of Odin's sword.

"What do you say?"

Perfect positioning. Janus kicked his feet out beneath him, released Odin's sword, and somersaulted backwards a few times, springing to his feet and sending Odin back into his spin. When Odin stopped, he would see Janus standing lithely before him, holding his hammer straight outward.

"It's an offer..."

OOC: Heh, this is going pretty well...

Red caught Shino eyeing him...

Red: "Hey, short-man! You looking at me? Are you?"

Hard to believe Ada could team up with someone like Shino, Red thought as he dried himself off a bit.

----------------------------

Meanwhile, Janus was having some rather interesting difficulties. Haste wore off, and he was coming out of his spin only to see Jarukoth stumbling around as though he were drunk.

Well, he was drunk, actually. And using matrial arts, at that. As Jarukoth stumbled around, Janus took the time to observe his motions. There HAD to be a discrepancy...

Janus: "Sheesh, this is new... But is he using the Legend of Drunken Master style, or is that the original Drunken Master style? It's hard to tell. And I never saw the original Drunken Master."

Janus contemplated for a moment. In the very least, Jarukoth was going to be certainly dangerous. Utterly unpredictable. And, if he was using the Legend of Drunken Master style, extremely lucky. In any case, it gave Janus a little time to think.

Jarukoth, as he knew, was a ninja. Ninjas generally had two natural enemies; pirates and robots. A robot pirate, however, would cancel out the awesomeness, and be completely useless. As would a pirate cyborg. It had to be one or the other. Of course, Janus got an idea...

"Alright, if you're gonna do that..."

Striking a henshin pose for a split-second, Janus whipped from Satchel a pair of reflectively-backed CDs...

"Full Scan!!!"

Janus leaped into the air, striking another henshin pose, and holding the discs between his index and middle fingers. As he drew the discs slowly across his face, his eyes flashed a bright blue, and the secrets of Sid Meier's Pirates! were revealed to him...

A brilliant flash of light erupted around Janus, and remained illuminated for several seconds, during which the light, and Janus, traveled back to the ground. When it faded, Janus looked extremely different. His hair was longer, tied behind himself. He wore a loose, poofy shirt, a stylish silk overcoat, and breeches. Satchel was gone, replaced by a parrot positioned neatly upon his shoulder.

Almost as if on cue, a full symphony orchestra performance of Robert Sheldon's "Chanteys" began blaring loudly from the stadium speakers.

At Janus' side was a glistening rapier and a spyglass.

Capt. Janus: "Ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to present..."

Janus spread his arms to the cheering crowd and took an elegant bow...

"The illustrious Captain Janus!"

Janus drew his rapier and held it in perfect fencing stance, facing his intoxicated foe with his own style of mastery...

"Now then, Drunken Master, let's get it on!"

UGrey: "Argh, Schwa... Look."

User Grey snaps his fingers several times. Instead, however, of explosions rocking the area like so much heavy metal music, there was absolutely nothing.

"You don't need to be scared of me, I've got no power here. Just the explosion thing whenever I feel like moving."

He paced over to Teddylot...

I think if Sega wants to make this game good, they need to stop using things like Renderware and the Sonic Adventure engine. While I enjoyed the SA engine, it has a horrible system for shooting. It's kinda sad to think about, but Sonic the Hedgehog is just the type of game that moves too fast for modern audiences.

It was OK in the past to have a Sonic game where you could hit speeds that actually caused you to run out of the way of the camera, but as we get into behind-the-back 3D games, speed is just not going to work, because in 3D games it's not just like "Oh, I can see that coming so I need to jump over it", you actually need time to pay attention to what you're doing. If you're moving so fast that the camera can't keep up with you, then you can't do anything about those obstacles.

Not only that, but the track-based gameplay that SA had was really just "Hold forward and watch the pretty", for the most part. It's fun, yeah, because there are clever little parts in it that sneak up on you where you have to use the controller, but if you're going to incorporate shooting into it, you need something more sophisticated.

Maybe Sega should ask Capcom what they did with the old Legends engine...

OOC: If it were at all possible to surrender simply based on being outclassed by the awesomeness of my foe's Rocko's Modern Life references, I would have done so after that last post.

Red: "Perversion?"

At this comment, Red becomes engulfed in flames, and rises from his seat, leaving a burn mark where his posterior end was.

Blue: "Evan, control yoursel---"

Red: "Oh, no. Not this time. He's gone WAY too far."

Red stomps angrily over to Shino and grabs him by the collar of his clothes, lifting him off of the ground and staring piercingly into his face.

"How do you, of all people, know what I'm thinking? I say we stop the foolishness..."

Red scowls as he swiftly carries the hobbit over to the window of the booth, and holds him out the window, over the arena!

"....And settle this like men!"

With that, Red hurls Shino into the ring, and leaps out the window after him!

Blue: "Evan! You-- Argh, of course... He never listens."

Blue looks over at Ada, a slightly worried expression on his face.

"Flattered though you must be by the affections of my friend, I must say that my most immediate suggestion to you at this point in time is to assist your comrade. To put it simply, Evan is going to rip him to shreds. Jason, if you will?"

At the mention of his name, Green perks up from his distracted daydream, looks over at Blue, nods his head, and proceeds to the window, only to leap out of it after Red and into the arena!

--------------------------------------------

But what about Janus?

Janus: "Avast, ye scurvy dog! Ye be drinkin' too much ale, methinks! I be sendin' ye to the Davy Jones' Locker if'n yeh keeps boppin' 'round like that!"

A thick scottish accent overtakes Janus' normal voice as he does a quick backflip to dodge Jarukoth's latest strike!

"Now, it's time for ye to walk the plan---"

Crash! As Shino flies into the arena and lands near Janus and Jarukoth, only to be followed by Red and Green, the arena makes its second change! The rocks and dirt are overtaken by water as the mainland dissolves into a small archipelago.

"What treachery be this? First Mate Williams? Jason, the Cabin Boy?"

Red: "Cut the pirate crap, Janus, this is a personal affair!"

Janus: "Nay, Williams, this be theatrics in action!"

Red: "Fine, just stay out of my way!"

And, of course, in his blind rage, Red leaps straight at Shino, his fist ready to slam into the sand with ground-cracking force! Meanwhile, Janus, being the understanding young citizen he is, turns back to Jarukoth, pulling from his belt a brace of pistols, both of which he fires at Jarukoth!

Green's just kinda chilling.

Janus: "Sturdy knave!"

OOC: Alright, so I'm starting it a few days early. This is what I've been planning for a while, my first real story. Time period really doesn't matter, since it's gonna involve time travel anyway, but to keep things straight, it begins in Alternate SF universe, taking place some time after Evil Reign Remixed, Megaman Forever, and the SB Tournament Story, chronologically speaking, and crossing several universes at once.

If there are any temporal questions, they will be ultimately answered with Time Travel, anyway.

And now, the prologue.

The sky is dark. The wind swirled madly in whirlwinds as a haggard fellow trudged across a barren wasteland. He clasps tightly to his head a battered fedora, and a ripped, torn trenchcoat whips behind him as he walks.

The figure reaches a hill, and begins to climb it. Lightning strikes in the background as he walks up the steep incline, slowly, but methodically. He would not stop, not now. He had to see it, to see if it was all true. To see if it all really happened.

The top of the hill was in sight, and as the figure reached the summit, he gazed upon the ruined city before him. River City.

It was completely annihilated. Buildings were felled, roads torn to shreds, and streetlights littered about the town. Destroyed. Just like every other city. But this one was special.

Detective Grey removed his hand from his head, and his hat blew away in the raging winds. Off in the distance, tiny flashes of light could be seen here and there, flying about over the city. They were still going at it, after almost five hours. There really was no point in continuing anyway, Grey realized that a long time ago. Any time he wanted to, he could end it all. Return everything to normal.

Grey: "Successor, eh? Some successor I am. Just a crock. That's all it is. I won't even be alive to know if what I could do will have any effect..."

Grey reached into his coat and pulled out his trusty, battered gun. He took a single bullet out of his coat, and loaded it into the weapon. His last one, always saved for a very special occasion. No point in keeping it now, either.

"Ah, sour grapes anyway. Not like living in this hellhole will do anyone any good."

He cocked the gun, pulled the hammer back, and pointed the gun at his temple. This was it, the end. All over. Once he died, everything would be fixed. But something stopped him. He wondered seriously, what brought him to this day?

Evan, John, and Jason were dead. Raon was dead. Algus was dead. And Janus? Well, that flash of light was him. Him and Axel, that is. Five solid hours of fighting. Certainly long enough to completely annihilate Grey's home. Would they ever end? Probably not. Not while Grey was still alive. Die, release the power, save the world. Easy enough.

But he couldn't pull the trigger...

-------------------------
FIVE YEARS AGO...

The scene? Whitelight HQ, somewhere outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Janus stood at the head of a long, round table, addressing a group of assembled warriors...

Janus: "Friends, the time has come. I've called you all here because I have tried to raise an army strong enough to fulfill the goal presented to said army. Those of you in attendance today, as well as anyone willing to join our cause, are the strongest, bravest souls this world and many others have to offer. Congratulations."

He gestures genially outward to the group, and wonders just who is in attendance of the many warriors he and Detective Grey originally scouted out...

User Grey just slapped his forehead and went to join Zap at the table... As he passed Allaura, he only vaguely remembered her from one of the old SB videos he found that one time he broke into Kirbynite's locker, looking for spare copy hats. Strange lady.

He sat down across from Zap, and snapped his fingers. A pair of drinks appeared before the two of them.

Janus: "Bad move."

There was no split second between Janus' movement and his location behind Fenrir. He was just.... there.

"You're currently holding a gun to the head of the most powerful weapon in the world. If you fire, and he dies, we all die too. You sure you want to do that? Are you?"

Another instant and Janus was in front of Fenrir, gazing into his eyes with a piercing blue light.

"I'm not too worried about death, to me it's an adventure that I have no ability to travel alone. But you, you're young and mortal."

Janus gently grabbed the muzzle of Fenrir's gun and brought it upward, pointing it at his own head.

"And furthermore, I don't even know who you are. I'm about to be shot in the head by someone I have no clue about at all. I'm certainly not going to let him shoot Grey, anyway. Not if I don't know who he is."

I'm playing GTA: San Andreas, Suikoden III, Chain of Memories, Pirates!, and on occasion I dip into River City Ransom EX.

San Andreas, I like what I've gotten out of it so far. I won six million dollars playing blackjack, I haven't gone on a killing spree once, and I am constantly carrying at least seven fully loaded weapons at all times. I feel powerful.

Suikoden III I actually haven't touched in a while, I've been playing through it evenly, though. I've finished Geddoe 3, Hugo 2, Chris 2, Thomas 2, and I'm starting Hugo 3 soon. I like the way the plot's going so far, and it's got a fun battle and stat management system.

Chain of Memories is fun, sorta. I'm burning straight through it, and I only really want to play it because I like Kingdom Hearts and I want to know what happens between KH and KH2, but this doesn't seem like a continuation of the plot, more a sidestory. S'not bad.

Pirates! just fucking owns.

As far as other games go, take a look at Eternal Darkness and Viewtiful Joe, those are both really fun games that are really challenging. Eternal Darkness will scare you.

I think the changes are a bad thing.

Firstoff, I haven't taken Algebra II in three years. That's some complex stuff, and if I were to take the new SAT, I am willing to bet I'd get a reasonably poor score on the Math section simply because I'm taking calculus 2 now, and haven't had to use the quadratic formula seriously in two years. I wouldn't remember the finer points because my head would be filled with psychotic equations about derivatives and integrals. Theoretically, a person in a math class four levels below me could get a higher score just because he or she was talking about it yesterday in their math class, whereas I was scraping by it three years ago. I guess that's why SATIIs exist, but colleges look at the SATI anyway.

The entire test is too subjective. Including a writing test is not going to help. People have extremely differing opinions and experiences in their high school career, and trying to standardize all of that is just going to hurt in the long run.

The good part about the SAT is that it is graded by a computer, and the computer sees every test the exact same way. If the new SAT is graded even in small part by a human, a bias WILL exist, no matter what happens. It is impossible for no bias to exist in someone's thoughts, and the graders will NOT see the tests the same way or grade them on the same scale. If the teacher is tired or energetic, if he or she is feeling forgiving or merciless, that all affects what happens.

Janus: "Then you'll be sadly disappointed!"

Blue radiance eminated from Janus' body as he held Satchel firmly in both hands, making slight swaying motions every few seconds.

Then, he was off! Janus dashed toward Odin, only to hop over his head and lash out with three horizontal swipes as he landed behind him. The difficulty was in tracking him with one's eyes--- he was moving fast enough to look like nothing but a blur... to normal people, anyway. Odin seemed like the type to follow through.

"Now who was that?"
