Blue said nothing... He only stared at the ground, ashamed of his conduct and his loss of control. His body was badly bruised, his pride was badly wounded, and his mind was nearly shattered from the events of the day.

Blue: "I... I am not strong enough. Forgive me, DarkSlaya. My attitude in this battle was not that of a decent person."

He did not say anything else, but instead turned his back on the battle, and exited the arena, heading slowly up the stairways to the rooms provided for the rest and relaxation of the fighters. He sat down on his designated bed and began to meditate.

After about an hour, there was a knock on the door.

Blue: "You can come in, Evan."

Red entered the room, walked up to the meditating Agent, squatted down so that he was on level with his friend, and took off his sunglasses.

Red: "You're perceptive. Much moreso than me."

Blue did not move. Keeping his body still, he responded.

Blue: "I lack control. It is still a trait I need to learn."

Red: "No, John, you don't. You've got more control than anyone I know, and I know a lot of people. Sometimes, it just wells up in you and you have to release it."

Blue: "........Do you think I am weak, Evan?"

At this, Red laughed out loud, and extended his hand to push the cross-legged Blue to the ground.

Red: "You'll never beat me in a fight, that's for sure. But that doesn't make you weak at all! Far from it, actually."

Red got up, walked to the door, and left Blue's room. Before he did, however, he had one final statement to make...

"Come on, and relax. You did good today. Now get up and watch the next battle. I think it's Green's turn."

Blue's eyes opened, and he stared, puzzled, at Red, as he got to his feet.

Blue: "Do you know why Janus is not fighting?"

Red: "Beats me. Maybe he's waiting for the right opportunity."

Blue: "I see..."

The two men walked together to the lookout post for the next battle...

Posted on 02-14-05 07:09 AM, in Is Toonami getting a bit... Link
The animes shown on Toonami that I've liked:

Gundam Wing
08th MS Team
YuYu Hakusho
Dragon Ball

The animes shown on Toonami that I've disliked:

DBZ
DBGT
Cyborg 009
Gundam SD
Rurouni Kenshin
YuYu Hakusho (Note: It was good when it started out)
G-Gundam
Pretty much everything else that comes to mind.

So yeah, very big piece of disparity there.

Adult Swim and Midnight Run were a different story. Personally, I enjoyed watching things like Cowboy Bebop, Pilot Candidate, and even a little bit of 0080 when it was on at around 1 in the morning on saturday nights. I loved Trigun, and I thought Lupin III was fairly clever, if a little crude and offensive. I thought Kikaider was cool, though the animation style turned me off. I'm glad they're showing Full Metal Alchemist, but I saw most of it subbed anyway. I just didn't like Inuyasha...

For the most part, Adult Swim outdoes Toonami, and Toonami is just more or less bad. I'm glad I have the internet for the animes I like following now, and honestly I hope a few of them get dubbed well and sent over to Adult Swim. They could use some good material.

Liver cancer or cirrosis. As far as I know, we can't make artificial livers.

EDIT: Yet.

In an emergency situation, User Grey rips a hole in time and space, entering the Tournament Signup room!

UGrey: "Ah, just so y'all know... I kinda got canned IRL, so that means I'll probably be inactive at least until the beginning of March, or posting sparsely if not inactive. Sorry, guys. My next foe can have a gimme if I don't post within the first two weeks."

With that, he punches a hole in space/time, steps through, seals it, and is not seen again.

The onyl thing I think I could do that would even qualify as a speed run would be Megaman Legends, which I blew through in three hours on Easy Mode (start with speed boots and Buster MAX part).

I don't think that's credible, though. It's not too hard a game without easy mode, so a speedrun wouldn't be very impressive with it...

Grey: "Good to see you, Miss Wong, though it's a touch late. I'm hoping you'll have enough time to get some rest for tomorrow night. I'd hate to see you in any danger."

The brown-coated detective stared down into a shot of gin, which he calmly took a sip from after a few seconds. He got up, and motioned Ada to follow him to the back of the bar, where the pool table she was eyeing stood.

"I noticed you looking at the table."

He picked up a pool cue, and placed a few coins into the table's coin slot. As the balls rolled and clacked into a reachable position, Grey continued speaking...

"Pool's a thinking game, Ada. One must plan their shots and cover their mistakes. A few wrong moves can set the entire field awry. Care to match wits?"

Time to throw out random guesses!

It reminds me of a game by Working Designs. Sprite style's too good to be an SNES or Genesis game...

I'm glad this is over, but just for future reference...

He's not breaking any rules.

Your styles of roleplaying differ greatly. Seph's involves the strength of the characters he creates, whereas yours involves the strength of the characters in the environment they're given. Both are significant roleplaying styles.

You, Schwa, should consider the amount of time Seph spent developing his characters outside battle, adding tweaks to their personality and thinking of quirks that could make them interesting. Having a godlike character is not a bad thing: If you've got a good reason to be strong, then by all means you should exercise that power. Theoretically, I could make every one of my characters into gods among men; I choose not to not because it's wrong, but because I personally don't think it's fun. If Seph thinks having a strong character is fun, then by all means he should fight with his strongest, so that he can have fun. I also didn't see Sion complaining about the strength of Seph's character until after the battle. As he said, rather than take a hit, he fought back stronger, which was a good strategy, IMO. I have a feeling if the battle went for more than nine posts, it would have turned into something extremely interesting.

You, Seph, should consider how interesting you can make a fight by prolonging it simply for the purpose of giving the viewer something good to read, or possibly for personal entertainment. Now, this doesn't have to happen, if you have a serious, dramatic style, or if you have a descriptive, fluid style, you can do whatever you want. I like your writing style because it doesn't TRY to be dramatic, or overblown, or over-the-top descriptive, it just ends up that way because of the complexity of your characters. But at the same time, if you feel you've outmatched your foe, use the extra space you're given to develop them further, and then you can have an even more legitimate reason, cross references and such, to be stronger in the future.

Battles can be massacres and still be fun. Take a look at Melvin and Toxic. Toxic's character is an old man, completely unsuited for the field of battle, yet Melvin spared him no quarter, and as a result we have an interesting, albeit short, battle that I personally enjoyed reading.

Schwa, I also didn't like this particular comment:

"I've seen Seph's battle style more than once, and I don't like it. He godmodded in the fight against the DiEm Team (Jarukoth), he tried to start and justify a godmodding spree in the thread "The ULTIMATE Challenge", and he godmodded in this fight as well. Folks, these are examples of what NOT to do in an elite SB. And Seph, I promise you if you don't change this style, you'll never earn my vote in later matches. Creativity is EVRYTHING, also. When I judge it's based mostly on creativity, but also if the player followed the rules of SBing. Keep this in mind."

Have your opinions about the way Seph writes if you want, but keep it in PMs and out of the fights that have nothing to do with them. This isn't a warning at all, it's just a heads-up that you should watch what you say and be more polite. Respect within the arena leads to respect for the arena, and vice-versa. It's bad enough that people make fun of this forum, let's not give them things to make fun of us about.

Also, on the subject of copying moves, Jarukoth, Sion, Dracoon, and I all have characters that use the same moves, or variations of them. It's like two characters in an RPG having a thunder spell. I fail to see anything wrong with it.

Seph, check the name under the SB arena description.

You're both good writers, and good battlers, and I commend you for keeping things civil.

Janus: "Certainly."

He took a few steps away, and turned around, ready to interrogate.

"You're a Paladin, and thus, you protect the people of the world from whatever evil plagues them?"

He paces back and forth, considering what question he should ask next...

"Now, what do you define as "good" and "evil"?"

User Grey watches the fight on a closed-circuit television, prepaing himself for the fourth wall break...

UGrey: "This sure as hell won't end well."

Grey then takes a look at the SB rules and regulations and notes that there's nothing in there that has anything to do with a situation like this being wrong. He smiles, glad to see that someone's finally bringing back skill-based battling.

"Now, let's see what I can do with this thing..."

He grabs a microphone, and Odin, Ex, and Seph all hear a booming voice come from out of nowhere...

"Attention, all battlers and spectators; I'd like to let you know that Schwa has no bearing whatsoever over the rules in this arena, and comments like Ex's are unnecessary. Roleplaying is standard, and one can choose to do so or not to do so with impunity. Ex, you will be receiving an informational message from me in the mail in regards to the reasons behind my particular writing style."

The voice faded, and Grey turned off his CCT.

I miss my Medal-filled Lylat System from Starfox 64...

So, then, Assault looks to be like SF64, which is good, and it's got more flying in it than Adventures, which is better? Interesting.

Er, one last question: In the on-foot sections, can you jump? That really pissed me off about Adventures.
