Janus: "I'll field that one. I've heard tales of a paladin that matches Silvershield's description, but I hear he's given up on his fighting ways and moved onto a more discussive scene. I think it'd be prudent nevertheless to extend an invitation to him to be the judge...."

Taking another cue on Star's suggestion, Janus continued his expressions.

"I have another idea, however. Why not have the people decide? The audience. Those who do not fight may judge the battles and determine the winner. I certaiinly know there are people who look into our little struggles that exist outside the borders of our combatative ways, so why not ask them to bring their judgement down upon us? Certainly it'd be much more of a mandate than anything else..."

OOC: Basically, I'm suggesting that if we have another tournament, let's make it public to the rest of the Acmlmers, and have them judge based on poll voting. We have a fight, then the rest of the people discuss how well it went. The catch is, only NON sim-battlers can judge, there's no use in having other fighters judge other fighters because there could be biases. If we have a more general system, it'd be much easier to get a consensus on who's the best. Not only that, but people who'd take a designated judging position (I.E. Kirbynite, Teddylot, Waddler D in the last tourney...) would be able to compete as well.

I think the ultimate trumper is the person who taps on the barrel of the Silent Scope machine while you're aiming.

Or the guy who thinks he'll do better at DDR by slamming his feet on the pads when he steps. I can understand when guys like Ziff do it, but Ziff doesn't suck at DDR either. When you suck at DDR, stomping the pads doesn't help, it just breaks the machine for no good reason.

Lucky for me, the only gun shooter I'm any good at is Time Crisis 3, and you can't do anything to mess up a person's game in that, it's nigh-impossible.

OOC: Well, instead of a poll, why not post a normal thread and have the people who read the thread post in the thread giving their reasons for judgement and the declared winner in their eyes? It'd be more of an analysis instead of a vote. A full fledged feedback section for non sim battlers to criticize and give suggestions to the combatants and give them a scope of what they need to improve on. The thread remains open for a few days, then someone counts the votes by user. This way we can also prevent fellow participants from cheating and voting in the polls, since in order for the vote to be counted an explanation has to be given behind it.

OOC: Actually.......... The purpose of the post was to show that while you can still scorch me, I can't hurt you conventionally. My ATTACKS are holy element, not my defense. That's what you said the power does.

As the Omega Psibeam slams straight into Janus, he is knocked backward several feet, and falls to the ground in a smoking heap.

Janus: "Ow..... this kinda sucks..."

He gets up with even more burns on his clothes, and relaunches his offensive -- just to check and make sure he's not being fooled.

A flurry of punches, kicks, and a totally unharmed Schwa later, Janus takes a few steps backward, and tries to regain his thoughts...

"Well, it looks like I can't hurt you. Not right now, anyway. But don't worry, it's me. I'll figure a way around this. Eventually...."

Janus crosses his arms and begins thinking of a loophole to his newfound holyness.

And let me tell you, Funimation FINALLY did something right.

I particularly like Ed's voice, it definitely fits his personality. Although the dialogue is different from what I heard (read?) in the sub, it's pretty much the same. Just syntaxed differently for american audiences. But something feels a little off...

I'll have to see more of it to figure that one out.

That's not fair, there's plenty of horrible anime out there... I can name a bunch right now...by category! In no particular order:

1. Any show/spinoff that involves fighting over inanimate objects that can't hurt flies. Bring on the geeks! (Yu Gi Oh, Duel Masters, Beyblade, etc)
2. Any show/spinoff that involves fighting with monsters! (Pokemon, Digimon, etc)

Fight your own battles!

3. Any show/spinoff that is so rediculously stupid it's not funny. Either in terms of idea, concept, or story. (Ronin Warriors, Thundercats, etc)

Beyond that, there are some "ok" shows, but that's not the subject of this...

Fool ! Doesn't your description of #1 include One Piece since they fight for the greatest treasure in the world ? #2 includes Dragon Drive, which is kinda cool (the opening is good anyway x) and #3 is just evil. I watched Thundercats :/! Also, saying that stupid is bad in terms of anime isn't smart.. I mean look at Excel Saga xD.

Worst thing I ever saw must've been Akira though.. so overrated. The Ninja Scroll TV series wasn't that good either.

#1... Well, a good deal of animes are like that, ragtag bands of misfits fighting for pride and glory...

#2, I dunno, I kinda thought Monster Rancher (the game, and the first half or so of the anime) was good, and it DID come far before Pokemon. At least, it did here in America. Like, 1997 compared to 98 or 99 for Pokemon. Honestly, I really can't remember so I'm probably talking out of my arse here. Of course, it wasn't nearly as popular as Pokemon, so everyone called it a Pokemon clone regardless of when it came out. Figures.

#3? Can't forget about Bo-Bobo Bo-bobobo. That's ridiculously funny, but that doesn't make it necessarily bad.

Grey: "Of course it's not. Your giant robot is configured for fighting targets that are large enough for you to hit."

Grey loads another clip of ammunition into his gun.

"I, on the other hand, can't possibly defeat something so big that my shots don't do any proportionate damage to it. We're at a stalemate, unless someone changes the conditions."

Grey looks around the destroyed office, knowing Melvin is, of course, a munitions expert. There's gotta be something he can use...

"I'm not exactly..... equipped to do that, myself."

Janus: "Schwa, even after all of these years..."

Janus disappears! Or, more accurately, he starts moving faster than most human eyes can see. Schwa's psionic senses should be able to keep up with him... barely. Janus is fully able to move like this due to him having set his hammer on the ground. The loss of all that weight certainly makes him capable of showing his true speed. And, his current (not necessarily true...) speed is enough to make Schwa come between him and the Rocket. The Emotional Rocket misses him and, if it's homing in on him, is now on a course for Schwa, so long as Schwa remains in Janus' path.

Of course, we're back at square one if Schwa moves...

"You're still underestimating my speed. Might want to watch out for that Rocket. If Blue's information is correct, the effects should be quite depressing."

The game was a satire of comic books and japanese heroes. I think the anime was intended to be a satire of superhero animes, much like Kill Bill is a satire of Hong Kong action films (I.E. it's so bad, it's good).

I'd suggest you watch it yourself before taking Jill's judgement for an opinion. Much as I do agree with her, it is kinda cheesy, I still liked what I saw. To each their own, but their own isn't necessarily someone else's.

Sion, I hate to burst your bubble on the fighting, but you're gonna have to wait a few months until the REALLY good stuff comes up.

As for the dubbing, it's actually extremely good compared to the sub. Al is supposed to talk like he's talking out of a bucket, he sounds that way in the sub as well. And I thought Ed's american voice was actually better than his japanese voice, where his american voice made him seem older, his japanese voice made him seem much younger.

I really just want to see what they did with Hughes, Mustang, and Armstrong. I'm kinda scared of what they're gonna come up with for Armstrong...

Janus: "Aw.... All that work for nothing. Well, not nothing...."

As he continues running, Janus takes note of the paths the rockets are traveling, and with a bit of fancy maneuvering, he runs circles around them. As the rockets continue their attempt at homing in on him, Janus picks and chooses his time correctly, and when the opportunity arises, he zooms between the twin trajectories of the rockets, placing them on a collision course with each other in the air!

"There, that should take care of that...."

Regardless of what happens to the rockets, Janus continues dashing, rushes over to his hammer, plucks it from the ground, and runs with it.
