Grey: "You're fucking kidding me...."

His coat flaps behind him as Grey darts out of the way of the giant, rising robot...

"There's no way in hell he's paying me enough money to deal with this kind of thing!"

Grey slams a cartridge of A.P. ammunition into his Magnum, knowing full well the absurdity of using normal armor-piercing bullets against a gargantuan behemoth such as that crazed, coated contraption. The sleeve of his trenchcoat flares outward, as a small grappling hook extends from it, which Grey fires upward to the top of the M-Tek HQ building!

"Here's to hoping he doesn't start smashing things!"

OOC: About how tall is the M-Tek building anyway?

Or if it's a legend. Can't forget about those crazy legends, especially with the new Kamigawa Legend policy.

However, Val's forgetting about the other kind of Blue deck you have to watch out for, the mind taking kind. Cards like Vedalken Engineer, Desertion, Memnarch, and even Grab the Reins (even though it's a red card I've seen some deadly red/blue combination decks) can take all of the power you amass and turn it against you. You might think it'd take some time to do, but most of the Mirrodin Block Vedalkens can get artifact decks rolling along really quickly, it's best to watch yourself.

Just because the explanation isn't known to us doesn't mean there's no explanation, which is why I keep digging in this thread. I don't think she's crazy or anything, I just don't think I have heard enough to understand her reasoning, that's all.

As for you, Grey, it seems like you have a lot of things to prove. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Thoreau live the way he did because he truly wanted to, and not to prove anyone wrong?

I never said I wanted to BE Thoreau, just to live as he did. And it's something I truly want to do, I don't see anything wrong with trying. What I want to do and what I want to prove just happen to collide with each other, is there anything wrong about that?

I can back Toxic on this one, he's the ultimate contradiction. He's a jock that plays in the school band, goes to LAN parties, does well in school, and actually thinks before stuff comes out of his throathole.

And I heard about it third period, too. Rumors were running around the high school for awhile, actually. But I thought they were just rumors.... This guy was really sacked by the plainclothes?

As Kirby confusedly looked for Schala, a tall fellow in a large overcoat stood outside the door. He had been trailing the group since the incident with Siryx, and decided he might want to make his entrance soon...

Grey (to himself): "A missing person, eh? Sounds like these fellows could use a detective. But, I think it'd be best if I waited a bit before joining them."

Grey continued to eavesdrop on the conversation as a young lad slipped into one of his pockets and made off with one of his gadgets....

Except replace "Targeting everything on the board" with "KA-COUNTERED!!!!"

See, cause I run a blue artifact deck so everything gets coun--- it's a joke. But I do have to admit, when I saw that combo in action I was pretty impressed.

Here's an interesting one though; I've seen a black weenie deck, except it wasn't really so much a black weenie deck as it was "four consecutive dark rituals" and a sinkhole per turn. Took out Rob in four moves.

Posted on 11-02-04 04:16 AM, in Schwa vs. Janus and the Floes of Time Link
As Janus goes flying, he reconverts his bag into hammer form, and digs it into the ground, acting as an anchor to drag him just short of a trip into Schwa's psychic beam! The whiplash from the flight then overtakes him, and he collapses to the ground in a tired fit of fatigue. The sudden gravitational change made him a bit lightheaded...

Janus: "Well thought out, Schwa! You're certainly thinking with the right head today!"

(thinking): 'And moving to disrupt my own thoughts, it seems.... time to make good on my words!'

Janus, still a bit dazed from that last move, stumbles to his feet, his vision blurred and untrustworthy for the time being. He shakes his head, and flecks of dirt fall from it as he looks at Schwa, blinking his eyes to try to refocus them. He then hurls his hammer in Schwa's direction, running alongside it and throwing a punch at Schwa, synchronized with the hammer's movement for a double-strike!

"The last thing I need is to get one of those visions now..."

Rapelling down the warp pipe's shaft with one of his mini-grappling hooks (despite there being a perfectly good ladder to use right next to him), Grey stopped just short of the area Kirby was in, and looked around, while hanging from the ceiling. He was juuuuuust out of view.

Well, I am only 16 so I cannot vote yet. But if I were two years older, I would vote for Bush. I think he is doing a great job in Iraq right now and he wants to get rid of abortion.

I think my ninth grade Biology teacher put it best.....

"That which is classified as a living thing has to comply to three main rules. It has to reproduce, fuel itself, and respond to stimulus. Several undeveloped cells from the union of a sperm and egg DOES NOT A LIFE MAKE."

In hindsight, I realize she has not accurately described a zygote, as there are considerably more than a few cells in the embryonic, germsomethingic and fetal stages of child development, but the point still stands. You can't kill something that isn't alive.

And as for the rich white male prophecy, some of our best presidents came from scratch, and some came from top stock. But nowadays, social status does indeed place people in a latently "higher" stage of thought than everyone else. People who come from together, financially secure homes have been proven to do better in school, have higher opportunities in the world, and rise faster in society than someone who came from the bottom of the food chain.

Basically, where you are in society is a gigantic factor in determining where you will go. Bush and Kerry are at the top of the list, both came from well bred, well fed homes, and both have no clue what it is like to be in the proletariat. They will never have the mindset that allows them to consider the lives of the masses, and that is what makes them both problematic on domestic affairs. I realize I am slightly contradicting my earlier position, but I still hate the Patriot Act and NCLB.

Foreign policy, however, is a different matter. Iraq is where this election is going to come down to, and the president-elect is going to have to have a solid foundation there if they are going to appeal to the masses. It's sad. Really, really sad. We should leave Iraq, and the fact that Kerry wants us out of there is enough to give him my vote.

And what do you know, my vote gives him fifty on this board. In any case, we'll find out tomorrow what will happen.

Grey: "Third degree mass-murder, theft, possible drug posession.... Yep, I can bag this guy easy."

A young man of British descent and lanky stature stood in the middle of a ruined city, where notorious killer Phage "The Untouchable" was last noted to be seen. It was, of course, an obvious area to search for clues, and the blood that ran like a river through the streets was definitely a clue.

"Let's see.... I'm sure he's been here, all the bodies are certainly an indicator of a guy like him. Pity, really. Some of these people could have lived decent, long lives."

Janus: "Long lives, indeed...."

The man, so young but so old, crept up behind Grey and grabbed his shoulder, turning him so the two of them were face-to-face. His eyes glowed a strange blue color.

"......but you need to remember that I've definitely lived the longest life here. I want you to find this man. I need him. Someone with this degree of power might be persuaded to the side of that which is good and right, rather than continue his evil deeds. If necessary, I will face him myself. And we can call on the others any time we need assistance."

Grey: "Now you listen here, bud---"

Janus: "No. You listen. You are under my employ. You will do as I say. Remember, this is for the good of the world, don't let your personal preferences get in the way of the destruction of evil. Find this man, show him the error of his ways, and ask him to join us. I'll accompany you as far as you find him. If he attacks us, I'll protect you if need be. Now, let's go."

The two men walked through the dead city, a bleak sunrise casting shadows upon them.

Grey (thinking): 'Man, he's always gotta do that thing with his eyes.... I just hope we find this bloke soon. The sooner I'm done with this job, the better.'

You don't necessarily have to say much, but I tend to have a lot of dialogue in my battles. And you don't have to be comical in your style, in fact I'd suggest you do it seriously. I fight seriously, but there's going to be a pratfall or two here and there for sure.

And as for the appearance of the thread, I saw that you came back and decided to challenge you. We need more people in here.

Um, saying a zygote isn't human is a sketchy argument, but saying that it isn't alive is simply stupid.

There's a big difference between "life" as we see it and "alive". I don't want to delve into philosophy, but my definition of a living human being (so before you go and fire at me for talking about nonsentient animals), seeing as how they're capable of reaching a sentient thought pattern, is a being that thinks and feels.

A fetus cannot think. A zygote has no brain. They have no feelings, and the embryonic stage of development has no nerves to feel pain. At least, I'm fairly sure the nervous system develops after that. If it doesn't, forgive my statement. You cannot hurt something if there is no way for it to be hurt. I've always seen the antiabortion argument as concentrating on what WILL be alive, as opposed to what is alive at the time.

And, of course, Kefka is forgetting the fact that there's a good chance if you need an abortion, then you probably can't raise a baby at the stage in your life that you require an abortion at. It's harsh, but sometimes not having a baby go through a hard life, in which it might be put up for adoption, or have a parent that can barely support her-(and in some extreme cases him)-self, is better than watching it live and grow up in a home that isn't sufficient for physical and emotional support and development.

This ties into my earlier statement, that to get ahead in society (and when I said society I didn't really mean just american society, yet somehow you jumped down my throat about it), you need wealth and a good, solid family foundation. Accidental children have an excellent chance of NOT having that support throughout their growth. Whenever you see a child go without, doesn't it pain you? Again, it's a harsh justice, but rather than watch the child suffer it might be best just to never have the child be born.

You're going to think I'm ruthless and heartless for this, but that's the ugly truth behind the abortion/antiabortion issue. It all boils down to when you want to see a child suffer. And yes, I realize that NOT ALL accidental children live suffering lives of poverty, but many of them do. And yes again, I realize that I AM a white suburbanite slob who has no clue of the real world around him, but I'm still allowed to have views. Many of the people who express views around here are the same way. So don't go and say "Well, you don't know what you're talking about, because you haven't lived that life" because chances are, you haven't lived the other side of the issue either. And I have the experience of knowing what it's like to live a life of poverty, it SUCKS.

No, not suicide black. He used a bunch of old cards that built up as the game progressed. And it progressed fast. It was just overall a really fast deck, a lot of 2/2 shadow creatures and protection from white creatures, it was like the exact opposite of a white cleric deck.
