I recall the original Final Fantasy didn't have MP, it had spell slots just like D&D, and when you slept at an inn all of your spells were re-"memorized". They do that in the Discworld novels too...

I'd like to see a source that places Legends in 52XX, the series definitely hinted at that being true, but I won't believe it til I see it. And if I do believe it when I see it, I'll be glad to.

Janus: "That's a good trick of the wind. I can do some windy tricks, too!" Finally, it comes into play: The hammer. Janus's satchel was drawn to his hands by his mind, only to have the metal handle extend from it, the edges harden, and the weight increase suddenly. Janus closes his eyes. "I'm going to be able to have a lot of fun today..." Suddenly, Janus begins whirling, creating a human-sized tornado from the speed of his spin. He is seen leaping out of the tornado, which is still spinning due to the hammer keeping the wind going inside of it. Standing behind the whirlwind, Janus sends it off at Reydam, as though it were being thrown. |

As Reydam heads into the tornado, he will most likely get a faceful of the spinning hammer that is keeping the tornado intact... Unless he does something about it, that is.

Genesis parts are interchangeable with Atari 2600 parts, curiously enough, as well as SNES parts, I believe. Not A/V cables, but AC Adaptors. |
Here's an odd one; Genesis and 2600s both use the same controller port. This meant I was able to play Genesis games with the 2600 stick and 2600 games with a Genesis controller. That was pretty neat, IMO.

Originally posted by Kario You took a physics class, but you forgot to walk away with something: Velocity is a vector quantity, meaning there are two pieces of it to measure: Speed AND Direction. The negative in negative velocity is that you're walking backwards compared to your frame of reference. Speed will always be positive. Speed, however, is a scalar quantity, meaning that that's all there is, speed, it's not three hundred MPH south, it's just three hundred MPH. If you can find some way to make speed itself, the scalar quantity speed, become negative (impossible at this time since the least movement we can possibly do is not moving at all, which stick us at zero, a far cry from three million m/s), then forward time travel is theoretically possible. At this point, however, it is not. When you hit the speed of light I thought time slowed and went backwards? I have the formula for it around here somewhere, my teacher went through the physics of lightspeed travel with us at some point. (edited by Grey on 08-27-04 10:00 AM)

Alright, so what's the deal? Computers are stretching in two directions. |
One direction, we see the ultracomps. The computers from Alienware, or the custom built, self assembled powerhouses that'll last for ten years and still be able to run cutting edge games with ease, the ones you never see in retail because they're just too good for the public. Other direction are the poodles. iMacs, the Hip-E, anything at all from Dell. Computers that look really pretty and claim to have cutting edge technology in their guts, except a quick look on newegg.com shows that you just spent 1700 dollars on a 450 dollar POS. It's like those cars you see at the front of a used car lot, shit on wheels but really sleek looking, and isn't that all that matters? If it looks nice? Not with computers, it doesn't. These two directions are gonna be where computers will ascend, in beauty and in brains. Smart users will get the smart computers, but everyone else, the people who want the coolest looking stuff on the market, the "Keeping up with the Jones" people, will end up buying the poodle comps and being royally screwed in the arse by companies, who will push further and further with their shitty equipment until finally massively overpriced equipment begins to extend into the section of the computer world that actually deals in GOOD parts. It's insane.

Blue easily takes the shots with his Permafrost gloves, far too cold to be melted by simple energy weapons. He then whirls around to catch Dracoon's beam sabre in his hands, and watches in horror as it slices cleanly through the ice, just missing his actual hands. The gloves must not have been dense enough, as they slid off Blue's hands and crashed onto the floor. |
Blue: "What? My ice!" Blue gets away from Dracoon, apparently melee range is quite dangerous for him. Blue (thinking): "Blast it, my ice must not be thick enough! I will have to concentrate a bit more, or else he may strike a vital point next time..." Blue closes his eyes and raises his arms. From the air, several large shards of ice rise above his head. Blue points his arms at Dracoon, sending the shards flying straight at him at a high speed!

Blue pushes his sunglasses up his nose, and as the fluorescent lights show a reflection of the charging Dracoon rushing towards him, a slight scowl can be seen upon his brow. |
Blue: "Predictable? I consider that the biggest insult my ears could hear!" Blue drops to the floor, placing his palm on the ground, as a rush of ice swirls around him! He watches Dracoon's charge very carefully, and right before Dracoon can close to melee, a huge piece of ice erupts from the ground directly in front of Dracoon, so that he would either slam into it, or be caught directly underneath it. With his other palm, he summons a fist-sized ball of ice and fires it outward, at the wall! What does he have planned?

Blue: "The capabilities of the human mind far surpass those of robots in many cases. Where you have speed, I have creativity. You are limited by the power of your programming, even the most complicated algorithms can't allow you to learn EVERY strategy I have in my head. And although you can react fast to my attacks, you're limited to the same responses. However many you may have, the game is no longer one of wits, but of seeing how many of them you can respond to!" |
Blue then summons another fist-sized ball of ice, and sends it flying to his other side! |
