There have also been released ROMs of Naruto GBA games, untranslated but still interesting little beat-em-ups. Personally I'm more interested in the GC game, with the recent popularity of Naruto in manga they may release the game before it fades into obscurity without being licensed for american viewers.

Plus, you can play as Rock Lee! Who wouldn't want to?

Posted on 08-07-04 10:05 PM, in Wisdom Vs. Reason: Janus Calls Schwa to Spar Under the Stars. Link
Janus: "That looks like it hurt a little bit... Fortunately, tornadoes are something I can deal with."

Janus recalls his hammer, thankful that Schwa let go of it for him.

"If my original tornado wasn't enough, then I guess I could just modify it a bit!"

Janus spins into his tornado technique, making it faster than it was before, and spins it in the opposite direction of the white whirlwind. Hoping to neutralize the air elemental, Janus leaps out of the tornado, again hammerless, and sends it flying at the air elemental! While this happens, he rushes to Schwa, executing a sliding tackle, hoping to knock him off his feet.

"Though I'll lose the use of my hammer from this point, so long as that tornado keeps colliding with your air elemental, it should pose as much of a threat as you think. Without my hammer, do you really think you need mana to defeat me anyway?"

OOC: The attack stances are a good idea, I just define them and try to put them into context.

Green: "Dunno who you are, lady, but thanks for the potion!"

Surviving the firebomb with Nijote's enchantment potion, Green makes sure the rest of the crystals can't hit the ground, dashing about with his increased speed, and managing to catch them all, with the exception of Harleyquinn's, of course. He then shocks them as hard as he can, breaking them apart and ensuring that they won't be able to be used to summon anything else.

"Here's your mistake, Summony McSummonson, you're using far too many electrical devices!"

Easily able to keep up with Spin's motorcycle, Green leaps onto the engine part of it, and places his hand there, sending another discharge of electricity directly into the cycle's battery! If he manages to make it explode, he'll leap off in an effort to escape the spray of battery acid that should erupt from it.

OOC again: This is becoming an everyone vs. Pirate AE match... and at this rate he might actually win!

So, do these games look familiar to you? I was just wondering what the difference between them and the original Red and Green versions was, aside from updated graphics and a few new connectivity features. Other than little tweaks and changes from Nintendo, there's absolutely nothing that makes these games different from their predecessors, right? So if that's the case, then why release them?

This really is the ultimate milking of the Pokemon franchise.

But does that really make the game worth buying? I mean, I still have my old Red Version team around here somewhere, they were pretty much unbeatable. How many times do I have to catch em all, especially when "All" is the same all that I caught back in 1998? Granted, the cinematics would be a nice change and such, but I just plain can't see how it compensates for it being basically the same game as it was six years ago.

Yeah, but everyone wants to be a superhero! I'd say that they should try and stop some real crimes, even if Vigilanteism is illegal, who would seriously argue with Batman and Robin saving the day?

Yes, you'd have to make concept sketches before the actual spriting. And of course, there are the Cinematics on the PSX games, if you haven't played the PSX games you should, considering that you have a PS2. Sick bastard though I may be for saying it, some of the hottest FF girls are in them. Or if you're not into ogling hot girls, you could just play Tactics...

Or an expansion pack! I have to admit, from my initial reaction I thought they were trying to dupe us into buying Red and Blue again, like they sorta kinda did with Crystal and Yellow. But if there really is all sorts of new stuff in it, I might just check it out.

OOC: Dude, you're controlling my attacks. Except they aren't your attacks, they're my attacks. Second, the handle of my hammer isn't thick enough to be pierced by a sword. Third, I don't see how you can throw a sword at melee range. Could you please explain the attacks a bit more?

Janus: "Not too bad of a technique, if you ask me. Of course, there's gotta be a reason why I wouldn't attack you, and I'd just love to find out what it is!"

Janus continues to send his hammernado at the air elemental, while he examines the electric vines that surround Schwa...

"I'm sure that touching those vines will give me a very big shock. But what if I don't touch them?"

Disabling his hammernado and recalling his hammer, Janus gets a good distance away from Schwa and his air elemental. Raising the hammer high above his head, Janus cries, "Earthquake!!!", and slams the hammer down on the ground hard, directing a shockwave of earth towards Schwa's vines, in an attempt to rupture the earth around them and rip them from the ground!

Dameon, he didn't have any people with him.

And there's nothing really wrong with sleeping naked, it's kind of a dumb move in the winter, though.

I seriously can't count the ways I've died in my dreams. Though I'm guessing I don't actually die, since my dreams just sorta continue on without any real changes, except for POV.

The most vivid dream I've had lately that I can remember is of a friend of mine teleporting gifts and stuff to all of my other friends, but she didn't give me one. She'd keep giving gifts to everyone, and I'd ask why I never got one, and she wouldn't answer me. As the packages got larger, I got more angry at her. It just kept on happening until I woke up.

OOC: I still fail to see how, and I never said I countered, which means that you wouldn't exactly have the opportunity to nail my hammer to a wall. Not only that, but there are no walls in this arena, it's an open field in a jungle. I'll keep my hammer, thank you.

Simple parries followed Dameon's blind slashes, as Janus begins to look a bit bored.

Janus: "You know, for all this "Training" you claim to have done, it doesn't seem like you're coming up with anything original. That's the problem with training, though you get better at what you know, you never learn anything new."

Finally, Janus does go for a counter, raising his hammer above his head for a downward slash. He shifts his wrists just slightly to the left and watches as Dameon's second sword flies past his head, and in turn past the handle of his hammer. Janus then follows up with a quick downward slash, bushido-style.

"I think I'll start actually attacking now."

When the cat's away, the mice will play, Colleen. I just haven't exactly had anything to do all day, so I've been hanging out here. Curse my lazy Saturdays, Sundays are the days I work. And even then most of my posting takes place at night so it still doesn't make a dent.

Maybe someday when there's more activity on the board I'll try for a syndrome. So long as I'm not spamming, that is.

Also, the latest fad isn't exactly something I can do, no webspace for .gif files, you know. And I suck at editing.

Janus: "In the dark, in the dark, in the dark. Everyone's always standing in the dark! Let's get some light in here!"

Breaking a disc open, Janus reveals a torch from Morrowind and sets it in the ground, illuminating the area. All around him torches flare up as the area, a clearing in a jungle surrounded by torches (a la Survivor), is revealed.

So yeah, no tunnels here. Anyway....

Janus: "Gladly!"

No front movement, no back movement, that'd leave Janus moving to the side. And damn, does he move! Showcasing a degree of speed that Dameon had not seen in Janus previously, Janus buffers into his movements a near-instant execution of his Tornado attack, leaping out of it and sending it at Dameon in almost no time. At this range, Dameon won't have much time to get out of the way, but of course Janus has that covered. Dashing ahead of his tornado, Janus runs behind Dameon and delivers a roundhouse kick in the opposite direction of his tornado's spinning, meaning that if Dameon gets caught in the kick (which is delivered just below his waist, making it a bit hard to simply duck out of the way), he'll have to deal with the Gs of Janus sending him one way and the Tornado sending him the other.

"Hmm, death blows already, and we're only a few minutes into the real fight. You don't like to mess around, do you?"
