Red suddenly stops short, drops to the ground, and lets his aura down. He look sat Origin incredulously, surprised that he'd ask such a question. Red slowly removes his sunglasses, revealing a pair of piercing green eyes that seem to stare into Origin's soul. After several seconds of deep thought, Red speaks.

Red: "I cannot tell you everything... But trust me when i say we were hired a very long time ago to capture Janus for the good of the world. I don't know what he's done wrong, and nearly every time we meet up with him he never seems to be doing wrong, but our employers have assured us, and given us mountains of proof that Janus is a criminal. Perhaps he's reformed, but we've seen evidence of many violent acts that he's performed in the past, and whether they are faked or not, the fact remains that he is still a dangerous man, and he does pose a potential threat to the world. As bringers of justice, we, the White Light, have to neutralize him, any way we can."

Red's aura flares up again, as he pushes his sunglasses back over his eyes.

"If you're going to stand in our way, I've got to neutralize you, too..."

Red stands at the ready for Origin's next attack, assuming he decides to...

Janus: "Hardly, it's just that this is supposed to be a sparring match, I'm afraid if it goes on for TOO long, you're gonna start using something that's actually dangerous against me."

Immediately conjured in Janus' mind are images he's only heard legends about, times when Schwa's really unleashed his power on someone. It was why he challenged Schwa tonight, but considering the time he was having with him already, he wasn't sure if he could take some of Schwa's more advanced abilities...

"But if you wish, this can go on for as long as you like. I've got nowhere to go, anyway..."

A bit listless in his movements, Janus jumps toward Schwa for another overhead strike. Right before impact, however, Janus suddenly switches direction, going into a whirling horizontal strike, for another feint!

Green: "Ha... Hahahahah! That was a very very bad idea, kids...."

Shaking off Nijote's attack (it WAS a mistake, after all), Green unleashes a gigantic wave of electricity, which should be spread and horribly amplified throughout the battle, directed at anybody who happened to be in the rain when Team Gemini used their attack.

"After all, water conducts electricity..."

Green cannot control the path of his electric attacks, meaning at this point EVERYONE should watch out!

Red: "Good going, Green! Just make sure you don't shock us too!"

Blue looks up from his work...

Blue: "Oh, my, this is going to hurt..."

Moddox was what actually got me interested in vegetarianism. He said he had no problem with people who do it for religious or health reasons, so I decided to start looking up what those health reasons were. Apparently what Shards says is true; soy products really are pumped with more nutrients so that vegetarians can compensate for what the loss of meat gives.

Still doesn't make soy milk not taste like sand, though... Though I must admit, chocolate soy milk is quite good.

Red catapaulted over Origin's charge, retaliating by firingdozens of tiny fireballs from his fingertips, a flaming barrage intent on sending Origin off balance! However, halfway through his assualt, Red suddenly hears a voice of reason...

Blue: "Red, perhaps this man is correct..."

It's Blue, back on his feet from Janus' assault. Shards of ice are floating around him as he walks toward Red, past Origin and the now motionless bodies of Janus and Green. As he tries to talk to the raging Red, his voice is cold and emotionless.

"Red, we need to seriously rethink our tactics here. Whenever we've clashed with Janus, has he really done wrong? I'm sorry, but I fail to see why we have to fight him today."

Red: "Blue, it's the principle of the thing nowadays. I don't know why we fight him either, but we do, and that's what we have to do because it's what we've been ordered to do." Red turns to Origin. "We're really nothing but mercenaries in this case... Once, we used to be the greatest peacekeepers of the world, but ever since this assignment with Janus, it seems like we've done less saving the world and more harming it... If I knew why we fought him, perhaps then we'd be able to defeat him. We always lose to him, you know. Something always holds us back from really finishing the job."

Red gives the nod to Blue, who picks up Green's body.

"Blue, take Green back to base. I don't see why we have to fight anymore today. Just let me finish this fight, this duel between men. I owe it to this fellow for the trouble we've caused him, owe him the chance to pay me back for the destruction on his tower that I've caused. Janus can wait for another day, when we know more about what's going on..."

Blue, still holding Green's body, pressed a few buttons on his wristwatch. Instantly he and Gree are teleported away, leaving only Red, Origin, and the knocked out Janus at the top of the tower. Red prepares to fight once again.

"I'm sorry for the trouble we've caused you. Shall we continue this unabated? I'm sure Janus will leave when he wakes up."

Red sighs, smiles, and lets Origin hit him full force with his attack. Origin's spear plows straight through Red's soft flesh, as a spray of blood erupts from his midsection. Red immediately coughs up an almost equal amount of blood, and as Origin releases from his charge, the recently impaled body of Red collapses to the ground, just as Janus rises from his paralysis.

Immediately Janus sees Red's body, and rushes to it, trying to see what Origin did while he was out.

Janus: "Holy crap! What'd you do to him? Dammit, at this rate he won't last long... I'll have to act fast."

Janus reaches into his bag, pulls out a disc, and desperately searches it for the technique he is looking for...

"Sheesh, I really was hoping you wouldn't kill him... It's ok though, I think this should help. Thank you very much for your assistance with these guys, I'm pretty sure they're not gonna bother you again."

"What really gets me is how hard you hit Red... He wouldn't just let himself get hit like this unless he WANTED to lose. You're definitely a strong guy though, if you could do this much damage to someone. That's commendable. Maybe you should go into peacekeeping?"

Red gets up, amazed that he is still alive. The hole in his chest recedes, as his suit slowly repairs itself, true to Origin's word. He watches, wide-eyed, as his wounds close and heal perfectly, a marvel of the tower's magical abilities.

Red: "Wow, I sorta wasn't expecting to survive that... But if you feel you've had your fill of fighting, I suppose I can go quietly now. I need to do some thinking, personally."

Red looks over to Janus, who has stopped searching the disc in his hand. He walks to him, and extends his hand as a gesture of truce.

"Janus, we're done for today. Congratulations, you get to live for a little while longer. This guy's made me think about this whole pursuit thing. I don't think we're chasing you for the same reasons anymore as we used to."

Janus: "Maybe it's what keeps you going."

Janus takes Red's hand, and shakes it, a tenuous, and ultimately temporary, truce between rivals. Red backs away from Janus, nods to Origin, and teleports out of the tower without a word.

Janus: "I really can't thank you enough for your help today. Maybe they'll stop chasing me for awhile. If that's the case, I am indebted to you. I want you to know that any time you need help with anything, just give me a call and I'll repay the favor. Until then, however, I think I need to do some thinking myself. It was nice to meet you, but I never exactly caught your name..."

Not quite moving his hammer in time for a block, Janus is knocked back by the rings, which serve only to add to his already growing headache. It's getting a bit hard for him to concentrate by now. Still, he looks to Schwa, not revealing a weakness.

Janus: "I've only got one, but it unlocks a bevy of interesting scenarios. In fact, I think I may give you a taste of it now, just for kicks. Remember, Schwa, no matter how strong you may be, if your opponent can outwit you you've already lost! That's why I try to think with unorthodox strategies, it keeps my foes on their toes!"

Again, Janus runs at Schwa, this time trying a new technique. He throws his hammer at Schwa, and as it follows the spinning arc Janus sends it on, Janus speeds forward, grabbing his hammer as it spins. Rolling into the arc, he springs into the air and becomes like a whirling saw blade, spinning vertically around and straight at Schwa.

"Tactical Modification!!!"

Meanwhile, Green is still panting from the enormous electrical discharge he just unleashed.

Green: "Heh, I better not try something like that again, or I might end up losing control myself... It's a good thing I'm properly grounded!"

Realizing Goldrush is still charging his musical attack, Green decides not to risk another blast like that sandstorm, and instead rushes over to the bass drum, punching through it and discharging another electric shock at the subwoofer!

"Much as I like your music, I can't have you harming everyone on the field like that again!"

Dude, Skies of Arcadia... No ports, but there's definitely strategy involved in both of the game's battle systems. It's a funny game, full of action and likeable characters, too. Unstoppable when it comes to pirates, even if they aren't sailing pirates...

Well that's all well and good, but there's nothing on the list from Intelligent Systems... Or Working Designs. Those guys are my two favorite RPG developers. I'd like to see another Advance Wars game, too, but it seems they're already making one for the Gamecube, except it's not a strategy RPG. Still looks good, though.

I love the Rockman EXE plotline, but lately I'm beginning to wonder if it's suffering from the same sickness that the X series has been getting, overly convoluted plots and Wily Syndrome. I hope Capcom does something new soon, or better yet, I seriously hope they bring back the Legends Series.

Janus immediately steps in here, pushing Kirbynite's stick out of the way.

Janus: "Settle down there, little fellow. Trust me when I say I don't think this guy's an enemy. We'd be better off asking him what he saw of the Gu-Goombas, rather than try to pick a fight. It won't do to be so suspicious."

If Microsoft buys Nintendo, then it really might mean the end of Nintendo consoles, though. I like my Gamecube. Certainly, Nintendo won't lose that sparkle that makes it Nintendo, but at the same time I don't think being bought out is gonna cause the innovative ideas to just start shooting out of their heads... If anything, wouldn't being bought out be a demoralizing move? There tend to be less creative thoughts when you're constrained by your superiors. Plus, they'd have to deal with Microsoft's standards, at any time MS could say they don't want Nintendo to put in a certain feature in a game, or that they need to change the formula to suit the MS image... Would that really be good for Nintendo? I'm sincerely hoping the DS saves Nintendo's butt. Maybe they should stay where they truly excel, in the handheld arena...
