Janus: ".....bastard..."

He glared at Star, looked down at the blade, and collapsed into the snow as Garro and Kalar writhed against the chains. Eventually, all three were subdued, realizing that there was more or less nothing that could be done at the moment. Janus, however, refused to go down without at least some kind of struggle... When the sword was withdrawn, he staggered to his feet, obviously weakened by the unprecedented stab wound to the stomach. He was panting, and a small trickle of blood leaked from his mouth. The wound hadn't closed up just yet...

"....So all those innocen---"

And that was about when LX hit.

But just as Yiusi flies over the edge, a hand grips hers and holds her over the edge as the Yiusi Ball flies behind her. No levitating necessary, of course.

Janus: "Right, so.... That'd be two times I've saved you now. Wanna try for three?"

He smiles and lifts her back onto the rooftop, and ceases his assault for a few more moments.

"You know, out of all of this, we're forgetting about that city, Sandsalot. The ball said you wanted to go there, right? Well, it's pretty obvious that you're gonna need some help getting there, especially now that the Speedway is closed. You still up for a journey, or did I hit you TOO hard?"

3.17 at the most, 2.70 at the least. And that's just today. Tomorrow I know for a fact the lowest prices are going to rise to levels about that of the highest.

It's not supply and demand, Arwon, it's production and demand. We have plenty of fossil fuels in their crudest forms, we just don't have enough useable fuel being produced. There's no shortage.

On the other hand though, if we OVERproduce, then what's going to happen when we do haev a surplus? We'll just have tons of unused fuel lying around for no reason when we really don't need it. Then production will go low again, and we'll be stuck in an even deeper hole.

Ah, Arwon I was confused by what you said, I guess....

Man, OPEC needs to disband, badly. Or something. Only other solution for us otherwise is to get a hand in it, which would mean occupying an oil-rich middle eastern country...

... Like, say, Iraq. Which is just bullshit.

I DON'T drive one of those gas guzzling monster trucks, is the thing... I drive a friggin' Topaz. 23 miles to the gallon.

Bit-Blade, that's actually already what it's like for me. I choose eat less.

Ziff, I'm just saying that OPEC should be at least demonopolized if they're gonna increase production. They can seriously charge whatever the hell they want, no questions asked. Greed is eventually going to get the better of us, especially if it costs seventy cents to produce a barrel of oil and we're buying it for over four dollars.

Zer0wned, what are these "cheap and quick" modifications, and how would one go about blending the ethanol and gasoline? It's not like you can just... I dunno, pour rum into your gas tank.

EDIT: Interesting conversation over AIM:
Rale9891 (9:11:24 AM): dear god, gas prices are around 3.10 a gallon now. And that's for us, in the cheapest part of the country
Santo Vendetta (9:12:13 AM): yeah
Rale9891 (9:12:14 AM): and yet for some reason I imagine the large oil company owners having like... water balloon and squirtgun fights with gasoline in the south
Santo Vendetta (9:12:28 AM): uh, comrade?
Santo Vendetta (9:12:39 AM): Lousiana has the only supertanker unloading port
Rale9891 (9:12:50 AM): I know, it's a stereotype man
Santo Vendetta (9:12:53 AM): and it has incurred the wrath of probably several angry gods
Rale9891 (9:13:11 AM): maybe Katrina is a sign that we should switch to ethanol XD
Santo Vendetta (9:13:33 AM): maybe katrina is a sign that we should give up and die
Rale9891 (9:13:57 AM): well, can we wait about 70 years or so? I wanna live out my life first...
Rale9891 (9:14:03 AM): but I'm not the only person who'd say that
Rale9891 (9:14:09 AM): which is the problem.

If he DOES do that, then he's also running the risk of being considered just a friend more than a love interest... So he's got to weigh his options.

Seph, love is a tactical thing: You should know about that stuff from experience. Just apply what you've learned about battle to romance, just substitute a powerful attack for a powerful sign of emotion. Start off slow, learn your opponent's strengths and weaknesses, and then when they're caught off-guard, surprise them with a real gamewinner. From there it's just keeping up a good run of successive strikes, and you're home free.

Just don't overextend yourself in the courtship stages, or you'll run out of resources halfway through the battle, so to speak.

Schpiel: "Excellent, EXCELLENT!!! Let's go! No time to waste!"

As the well-rounded would-be director pulled Jarukoth and Khrone along, with Nijote also in tow, he began explaining a few other things.

Schpiel: "Now, there are a few catches to this job: One, I've never actually directed a martial arts film before. Mostly I've been dabbling in the adult film industry, but everyone's got to start somewhere, right? This is my first attempt at something new, and I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. Funding, however, is quite amazingly provided."

He continued on. His tone changed a little bit, however, as he started talking of just where he got his money...

"The film, you see, was actually commissioned. Apparently some benefactor out there was looking for an underground director (LIKE MYSELF, HAHA) to make what he was calling one of the greatest creative projects of our time. I was tapped, and given the job nearly instantly, along with an almost unlimited budget! I couldn't believe my fortune, this was a huge step up from "The Lucky Cat" and "3rd Watch At Long Towers" (have you seen those? They're really quite masterful, there's some scenes...)."

At this point, he actually stopped moving for once. It was really amazing how the man stayed so fat, he had been talking and moving at a rather uncanny speed for a fellow of his weight.

"Oh.... but the trouble is, I don't really know what I'm going to do. You see, in my previous line of direction, there wasn't much rational thought required. You pretty much expected what seemed most extreme at the time. Here... I got shafted. Apparently, the greatest creative project known to man wasn't already in the benefactor's head, it had to be in mine. The worst part was that I was given no script, no recommendations for actors, no crew, no equipment. Just money. The commissioner seemed to believe that that was all I'd need, but I need something else..."

Schpielbunk noticed that the stars had finally just begun to come out. He looked to the skies, his eyes misty and his face forlorn, almost as though he was half-heartedly expecting something that deep down inside he knew simply wouldn't come to him. For a man of his position, he was surprisingly sensitive.

"I need inspiration. No director can work without it. I need a muse, an idea, something bigger than the rest of this. Some piece of perfection so grand that no amount of money that I spend could ever come close to even trying to honor that degree of creative strength. My work is the reason why I love my life, just the fact that some kind of crazy, mixed up, genius idea could come from a single person's head excites me, fills me with the zest I need to live on. But without any kind of inspiration, I'm nothing..."

He went silent at this point, and continued his movement, which had slowed to a dejected trudge. They had arrived at his studio.

----------------------------

Bartender: "Do not patronize me, Monsieur Armorall. While my fellow counsrymen are admoneeshed by your prasonce, no matter what, I will always have seen strangaire folk. Someseeng strong, you ask? And all you have to show for eet eez zis piece of----"

He lifts the gold coin off the counter, and realizes that it is actually NOT fake... His eyes widen. He realized just then that he, in an instant, suddenly became richer than half the bourgoisie.

".......... Pleeze, my good man, come to ze back. I will show you my very best."

His hand is shaking as he slowly walks toward a locked door in the back of the nightclub...

Janus: "Well, in that case let's go get some dinner first. I figure the best thing to do, if I'm gonna be traveling with you until a certain someone decides to stop being such a jerk, I'll need to---"

He notices the transformation, and steps back a few feet. This was new. Kinda frightening. Kinda creepy. Kinda alluring, he guessed. But somehow this didn't seem like your run-of-the-mill "girl thing" to do. In fact, this seemed excessively dangerous.

"----Oh. Wow."

He didn't really have much more to say than that.

Janus: "Yeah, no problem. You probably shouldn't be fighting then, if your weapon of choice also happens to turn you into some kind of horrifyingly powerful creature... I mean, I've seen some fucked up shit in my time, but this really does reach for the skies."

He methodically raised his right hand to about head level, clenched it into a fist, and grabbed his wrist with his left. His right hand began to glow with a brilliant white light...

"Why don't you retire from the fighting scene for a while? Become a wanderer, like me. It's fun. 'sides, it's not like you actively lose the ability to cause wanton destruction on a whim... If anything, you're given more creative opportunities to do so."

He didn't even bother with going Trinity mode this time... Grey could go fuck himself. Janus would have no part of those hokey theories unless it had something directly to do with his own storylines. As it stood, he was powerful enough on his own...

OOC: I typoed last turn and tried to change my square to 12, but my internet died before I could make the change.

Grey, having completely missed the dimensional rift that sent him from his original intent (that being square 12) to the nonexistent fifth dimensional area known as square 10, decided to just bugger the whole thing and make his way to Square9.

Grey: "As if this wasn't obvious enough... I take it we have to destroy the machines in order: 1, 4, 16, 13. We probably have to all hit it at once, too... Oh, Ziratha, you might need this."

Grey tosses a Mushroom over to ziratha.
