Alright, so college is coming up yet again...

I'm enrolled in five courses at the University of Rhode Island's Compsci/Mathematics program. This means I have a 16 credit course load, not too big a deal, right? It's better than 18, which is the max, but better than 15 too, which is the minimum for a full time student (which I am). Finanaces are taken care of: I got scholarships and interest free loans, meaning I technically owe the school NOTHING. Until I pay my loans, which amount to less than half of my total fees. And I have years to take care of that.

Well, I've got my job at Toys R Us as well. Which I'd like to keep, if you don't mind. Scheduling is easy enough... I figure I work three days a week, rack up about 20 hours of work, and we're cool.

Here's the problem: It's a 45 minute drive from my dorm at the university to Warwick, the town that the store is located in. I have no problem with this, I can deal. TRU is an awesome job and I have college coming up too, which is equally awesome. So I drive an hour and a half, two hours a day to work for that time each week. This STILL gives me ungodly amounts of time to study and play video games.

My classes are all starting at AT LEAST 11 in the morning (save for fridays), which means I can theoretically get in at 1 AM or so and still get 8 hours of sleep while having ample time to eat and such. Considering the latest I usually leave my job (even in season) is about 11 at night, I'd have to say I'm in decent shape, especially when you consider that I won't be working on school nights (well, one school night). AND you can also count that I can't sleep for more than seven hours anyway, physically speaking. They all let out around the same time, 3:30 at the latest, save for thursday night, which lets out at 9:30 but starts at 12:30. Doesn't matter, I won't be working thursdays.

Now personally, I think that 20 hours a week of work plus five classes spread sporadically throughout the week is easy shit compared to what I had to do during this school year (40 hours a week of classes as compared to about 25 from college) AND STILL work about 20 hours a week. And then there's the fact that I worked well over fifty hours a week throughout the summer. I'm no Iron Man, but I think I can handle this.

My mom, however, does not. She's taking her "I told you so" tone with me because she thinks I will fuck up like my sister did. I will not fuck up. I can deal with so much more stress than anyone in my family gives me credit for, and I don't even SEE this as stressing... Maybe the arrogance of inexperience speaks within me, but I really think I can do this. I want this, I want some hardship in my life finally, and she's just putting me down, thinking I can't do it.

Do you think I can? I need to know realistically. If so many people can handle psychotic course loads and still work their ass off to pay for college, can I take a middle-of-the-road (maximum course load is six, I have fucking FIVE for crying out loud, that's not much) course load and work a part time job? I don't see why not. I'm tired of not getting enough credit for being able to take shit.

Come on, give me an answer here.

Grey: "Yo, guys... I just got this..."

Grey's Disco Ninja Afro is revealed to have a large paper airplane sticking out of it.... Apparently, it's a note from the disappeared Teddylot...

"Dear guys at Squares... I will be inactive for a week, please do not kick me out of the game, I will be back and ready to post as soon as I finish fixing my internet problems. Until then, please carry on without me."

Grey rolled up the message, stuck it in his gi, and saluted.

"Right, you heard the message."

The existence of the Disco Ninja Afro can be disputed.

Broken bones: Aside from the occasional ankle sprain, nothing.

Insect bites: Horsefly bites, bee stings (twice), and a hell of a lot of mosquito bites.

Other Living creatures: A dog and a goose.

Medical conditions: Tonsils and adenoids taken out, and I had to have some of my teeth broken and removed before getting braces.

Misc: Ah, here's where the fun begins.
- Wooden sword blow to the head that left my glasses bent and a few good bruises here and there.

- Fencing foil that tore a hole in my shirt and gave me a pair of good scrapes up my right arm (they're almost gone now) at 2:30 in the morning, along with a rather large bruise that still hasn't gone away entirely. I'm quite lucky I was wearing a mask.

- Game of manhunt that caused me to trip, fall, tear open my jeans on a particularly sharp plant and get a cut that eventually got filled with mud. I cleaned it before being infected.

- Various welts on my side and back from my paintball days.

-Stitches from when I slammed my chin down rollerblading. The scar's still there, it's noticeable when you look at my chin while I have a beard growing.

It's been done. Hiryuu will win.

But, I suppose I'm up for it so long as I don't face him in the first round.

He ain't lying, he ruined my shit, and I usually do pretty well in Time Trial.

EDIT: Stickied. Let's see how far this goes.

I like how the topic became so one-sided in discussion of a virtual pet simulator.

I'm personally looking more forward to Dual Strike than Nintendogs. I know next to nothing about it, but I know more about it than I do Nintendogs and I loved the first two, which gives me reason enough to give it a shot.

Janus' eyes shot open, flaring an azure hue as he grinned.

Janus: "Now that's...."

A quick whirlwind and the first of the spheres was deflected far outward...

"...what I'm talking about!"

Moving gracefully, Janus batted each sphere away from him, swinging his hammer to and fro like some kind of psychotic baseball player. He even managed to bat one of the spheres at another, causing an oraclastic clash of energies that'd probably produce some kind of worryingly dangerous result. Janus leapt into the air and out of the mass of spheres (well, it wasn't that big a mass, seeing as how there were only seven of them, meaning he assumed the spheres had another 360 x 2piR^2 - 7 angles to cover before they let up on him, but it was still pretty mass-like), landing cooly on the rooftop. He smiled at Yiusi. Not too shabby...

"Alright, you're better than the average person. I'll give you that. But you're really gonna have to try harder than that to impress me. 'Course, the question here is who is SUPPOSED to be doing the impressing, if you catch my drift. I suppose traditionally it's the guy, but I've never been one for tradition. So come on, let's up the ante a bit!"

Moving into melee, Janus dashed at Yiusi, hopping into a slide that sent him underneath her dress (nice view? She'd never know if he looked...) and into a rather clever attempt at a trip maneuver. When he jumped out of the slide, he kicked downward, sending him to his feet and into a handspring, which he came out of like a panther, hurling his weapon at breakneck speed toward Yiusi.

If I may, I'd like to interject an additional area of discussion into this topic. More children are diagnosed as autistic today than ever have been before. Why do you think this is? Is autism increasing in frequency, whether it be due to extrinsic or intrinsic factors? Or do you think it's because we're simply more able to spot mild cases? Perhaps is the definition of what constitutes autism broadening? Or do you have your own theory?

Please, share your thoughts (specifically those of you who have autism in some form).

One word: Overdiagnosis. Sad, but most DEFINITELY true.

Dragon Ball Z had, to me, some merit: It gave me inspiration and ideas when I had none. If I needed to think about, to contemplate a serious battle, I'd look at a few episodes of the decent fighting that existed in DBZ, I'd envision what I wanted in my mind, and I'd end up with something along the same vein that involved less screaming, less bulgy muscles, less ki blasting, and a hell of a lot more speed.

To its credit, the Vegeta Saga was a good one, it kept you wondering just who the hero was, and really did set the modern standard for the "I am pissed off and will destroy you now" archetype in Gohan.

Grey: "Hrm, let's see how this goes...."

He wrote down on a piece of paper his seriously screwed up calculations...
Grey:
35 - 3 AP for 1 BP
32 - 5 AP for defense
27 - 5 AP for M defense
22 - 16 AP for attack
6 - 6 AP for HP (+18)

Final stats:
Attack: 18
Defense: 7
M Defense: 7
M Attack: 2
HP: 28
BP: 1

"Ha, I guess that makes me in the very least a little bit stronger than I was before... Right? At least now I can HURT things."

The lights dimmed, as Grey's new form was unveiled... The Bee Gee's "Stayin' Alive" suddenly blasted from the speakers as multicolored spotlights swept the floor of the arena, blazing rainbow arcs across the floor. Illuminated was a man wearing ninja-toned (i.e. black) Suit jacket, flare pants, platform shoes, and a big, shining gold medallion that read "King of '77" around his neck. A black eyemask accompanied gold chains that swept across this funky dude's ninja bod, and topping it all off was a large, stately brown afro that curled and twisted like the slick moves he busted out under cover of night. His chains jingled against his katana's sheath as he put his hands together and moved his horizontal arms in a wave-like motion, ending in the classic Travolta 'Saturday Night Fever' disco pose.

At long last, Grey, the Super Disco Ninja, had been revealed.
