OOC: I just have a few scenery questions here... Bouldres falling in our path means we're NOT out in open desert anymore, right? Which means we're probably in some kind of pass or gully or ravine or something.

The guy and the priest were already at the boulders when Hikari arrived, wondering just how they'd be able to get through. Logic seemed to dictate that climbing over would be a good idea, but more to the point was something else on the tall fellow's mind....

Guy: "So wait, that there gunslinger..."

At this point he motions to the leader of the Gurio Gang, whom he had just seen make several brilliant shotsthat were all misses.

"...was trying to rescue the dancer lady, but to no avail. All of his shots either missed or hit a designated "good guy" area..."

He noted the dusty hat with a bullet hole in it that he had grabbed off of the arid earth while he was riding.

"And frankly, now it seems like something is actively keeping us from that gal. Who're the real good guys here?"

Regardless of a response, he continued after Hikari and motioned for the priest to follow. The priest, who had regained some of his gusto after a considerably more pleasant ride on a horse, nodded his head and started climbing too.

Grey: "Dammit, no.... I forgot that Kyouji hadn't taken his turn yet, he wasn't supposed to attack the machine last turn... Best idea I have right now is that the rest of us concentrate our attacks on machine 1 until next turn... Then Kyouji attacks machine 1, and the rest of us finish off machine 2. Unless Kyouji can't deal enough damage to the M1 next turn to finish it off... But I'll give it a shot anyway with this here Fire Flower..."

Grey equipped the Fire Flower and proceeded to attempt to set M1 on fire.

(thinking) 'Grrrrr, I hate it when my plans fall through...'

WHERE THE HELL IS MARVEL VS. CAPCOM?

And Phil, I added Guilty Gear just for you.

As for Tekken, I find it boring, slow, and pointless. I DID, however, enjoy Rival Schools immensely.

And what about Star Wars: Masters of the Teras Kasi? Or Kung Fu? Or Rise of the Dragon? Or Shaq Fu? Or Pit Fighter? Or Brutal: Paws of Fury? Or Bloody Roar? Or Fighter Maker? Or Tobal (actually, Tobal was pretty friggin good)? Or Ergheiz? Or Sonic Battle? Or Capcom vs. X-Men?

And the list goes on....

Janus pushed Star's blade aside and proceeded to look him straight in the eye. He was furious.

Janus: "Oh, that's really noble of you, Star. Just sit and watch all of those people die! You really impress me with your courage, man. Step aside or I'll make you step aside. This is your last chance!"

A duel with Star right here and now... That was the last thing Janus wanted. But if it was for the lives of so many people, he'd step through any barrier, including his best friend. Not only that, but it looked like Kalar and Garro were practically foaming at the mouth... Janus wasn't sure if it was because they were evil, or if there was something more serious wrong with them, but if they didn't get to kill something soon, they might turn on everyone else!

OOC: Everyone's stuck in the fake world, only Odin and Fenrir have gone down. I think the challenge now is figuring out how they did it and do that... And I don't think any of us (save for Star) knows that this is a fake world, hence NeoBowser using his clone army.

Immediately upon seeing Star, the tired man simply stared at him and furrowed his brow...

Man: "Ah.... Je ne sais pas... Je n'parle pas englais, mon ami... Je ne sais rien au sujet de quelqu'un Raon appelé. Je ne suis pas assez compétent en votre langue pour communiquer correctement avec vous, monsieur."

Yep, that'd be a bit of a problem in Paris.

Random Stranger: "Hé, c'est un Étranger qui parle anglais ! Tirons profit de sa stupidité!"

A man and several of his friends approached Star and began speaking to him in French, enveloping him and pushing him around jokingly.

Other guy: "Regardez-vous ! Vous portez l'armure et une épée ! Vous devez être une certaine sorte de bravez le guerrier, naturellement ! Ha ha ha !"

Anotherother guy: "Oui, nous sommes très effrayés de vous ! Je le détesterais si vous me coupiez avec votre grande, mauvaise lame !"

And of course, being a public place, this wasn't exactly the right time for Star to start slicing heads off...

As for Khrone and Jarukoth, they were only in H-town for a few seconds before a gigantic, bright white limo passed by them and sprayed mud on them from a nearby puddle in the street. This was NOT the place for Ninjas. A few passerby looked at the two of them, clad in Bioarmor and battle gear, and started wondering if there was going to be some kind of live action G.I. Joe movie made...

Other than that, nothing. At least, until the short, fat man with round purple mini sunglasses and a megaphone dashed up to them...

Fat dude: "AH! PERFECT! PERFECT PERFECT PERRRRRRFECT! You'll be amazing!"

The man was clearly insane...

And Janus and Grey? Well, they began their search the moment Janus ripped open a portal...

Grey: "Where are we off to, while they're so busy?"

Janus: "Research, my friend. Sumeria."

Grey: "What's in Sumeria?"

Janus: "The origin of literature..."

He stepped into the portal, and pulled Grey along with him. They exited in a beautiful meadow in between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, somewhere in the middle east. A small cave lay before them, which Janus immediately started toward.

"Here is where Axel's powers originate. The very first tales of the world came from places like this, cave drawings on the wall that no doubt form the basis of his abilities and his chain of command over the creative powers of the world. It is here that the first stories came from, and here will be where the last story ends..."

He strode ever further into the cave, as a small, dull light began to glow from Satchel... Murals were illuminated on walls, carvings that had all but faded with the ravages of time... Mammoths, tigers, fire, trees, lightning, water... All were represented. But above them all was the Sun. The highest drawing always, above the clouds, even above the stars... The Sun was depicted always as rising, in its midpoint, and falling.

"The men of the caves were surprisingly deep, Grey..."

Grey: "Eh? What does this all mean?"

Janus: "They told tales, you see... of fantastic events. I'm looking for one in particular."

Grey: "Which would be?"

Janus: "This."

He stopped in front of one amazingly large drawing. It depicted a landscape, somehow... The sun, as usual, was rising far above the rest. However, it was different from the other suns that had been drawn. It showed a dark sun, and all was as dark as the sun that rose that day. The drawing, though skillfully done and crafted as well as any cro-magnon could, radiated a sense of... well, boredom and blahness, almost as though the world had been reset. Janus studied the picture for several seconds, and took note of several odd designs that Grey had not seen in the other drawings... Janus turned away from the mural, and began to make his way out of the cave.

"I've got what I wanted. Let's go."

Grey: "Wait, wait, what was that? You mind explaining to me?"

Janus: "As a matter of fact, I do. Let's just go. We don't have much time."

He swung Satchel, and another portal opened...

Janus: "Too slow."

Gun to head, scythe to throat, and hammer to.... Janus' side? By the time Raiko's pistol had reached his forehead, the catboy's arm was gripped in a vise-like hold that sent his hand straight upwards, reminding the boy that no matter how quick he was, he'd never be THAT fast. Garro and Kalar backed off, Janus released Raiko as Rhiea went to put the gun downward, and he stared grimly at them.

"Like you'd fire... That bullet would go straight through my head and into someone far more innocent than you or me, and I'd get right back up, you cocky little bastard. Now what's this business about stopping Star? Last I checked he stopped other people from doing stupid stuff."

"Aw, don't worry about it ma--- Oh, wait, he's going demon again." I said sheepishly. I needed to figure out how to dodge those arrowheads.

And then it hit me. Clearly DDR was the solution to all of life's problems.

But I had never done a nine footer all the way through.

Could I do it? Could I do it if I believed in myself? Well, that was an obvious one: No. But hey, I HAD been practicing. So the least I could do was try.

Yes. Yes I could. As the arrowheads formed, I snapped my fingers and kicked my boombox, and the exact song I'd need popped up...

I leapt forward as the arrowheads began to fly toward me, and shouted out the name of the song as it opened...

"Can't Stop Falling In Love!!!"

The opening was going to be hard enough, but I knew a few freestyle steps from one of the crew at the arcade, who had been showing me his stuff. This WAS his specialty song, after all. The opening was going to be hell... A set of turns that I could never quite get down perfectly. I stepped, and envisioned the pad as the arrows flew at me. I stepped in time with the music, left and right and left and right and then the first turn! I hit the turn just as a pair of arrowheads flew past me, slicing my shirt and almost scaring me off the beat. But I had to continue. Next was a four-beat stream that I'd have to reverse in order to keep up with the music, making a seven-step combo that I incorporated another dodge into as a second pair of arrowheads flew past me.

Those were just warning shots, though. I figured that one out when suddenly hundreds of them at once began to flash at me, and THAT was when I started to freestyle.

Twisting, turning, stepping, and moving to the beat of the music, I hit the first set of gallop-jumps in the song just as a trio of pairs flew at me. The set flew by as I leapt to the side to perform the gallop, then leapt to another side to finish the jump as another pair flew at me. I repeated the move (had to: The music wouldn't dictate otherwise), and it was back to streaming. This time, I checked my freestyles so that I started moving in a gradual circle, making sure that my movements never caused me to stay in the same place for more than a few seconds. Hunter was smart enough so that I knew his arrows would start tracking my movements. It was a good thing there was a lot of variation in the song's stream steps.

Then came the reversed moves... It was a jump, and then a gallop this time: I hit the jump, but stumbled a bit on the gallop, as a pair of arrowheads flashed through my side and dissipated into my body. I could feel the anxiety, however light it was, and it broke my concentration. I started making a few misses here and there. Had to calm down, had to calm down. I exhaled as a break in the song came, and it was straight jumping for a splitsecond, which I used to refocus my moves and start freestyling again. Arrow after arrow flew past me, and I could feel the sweat beading on my forehead as I struggled to finish the song.

And there it was: The final run. Utter, utter chaos. Turn after turn after turn, and then eighth after eighth after eighth note switch. I didn't even have to do this. I didn't even have to, but I knew if I didn't find some way to focus my movements, those arrowheads would overtake me, no matter how fast I ran. Diagonal stream... Reverse diagonal stream... Afronova walk, and a triple. Almost.....

And the final jump! I threw in a quick flashy move and twisted around in midair as I hit it. A pair of arrowheads burned my skin as I refused to move, but I didn't care. I didn't even care, I could feel the anxiety being overtaken by the sheer rush of adrenaline that blew through my pumping blood. I was gasping for air, I was tearing myself to pieces bronchially...

....But I was still alive.

And that was about when the Xbox hit. Nine pounds of destructive fury, hurtling toward Hunter at terminal velocity, generating an amount of force exactly equal to the calculations I had described not two minutes ago. Hit or miss, it cracked into the marble floor, exploding in a wave of silicon and plastic shrapnel that fired out at incredible speeds, certainly enough to rip through human flesh.

Six kilometers in the air, Janus looked down at the drop point, standing on top of Satchel and wondering if Grey really was insane enough to order having an Xbox dropped on the ground that far...

Janus' eyes lit up at the mention of the White Agents, but something inside of him knew to just leave it be... Asking would be folly. He knew what had happened to them, he knew where they were...

...And he knew where they'd be. Instead, he took the conversation in a new direction.

Janus: "So then, why Stardust Speedway, if you're in no hurry to die? This place is pretty crazy, you should have known that if you really are an Oracle."

Grey: "Ok, let's try this again, people... We've got to go surefire on this one. Kyouji, attack Machine 1 with thunder, you'll deal enough damage to it to bring it to equal standing with Machine 2. Everyone else, keep those generators at bay! Then, next turn, Kyouji and ziratha can finish off the machines with everyone else on support. Since my attack power sucks anyway, I'll concentrate on healing..."

He tosses a Mushroom over to Kyouji and busts open another Mystery Item...

Companion: "Eh, what, oh right..."

Offline trances aside, the companion notes the gigantic Goron atop the boulders and can't help but wonder aloud...

"Jeez, what the hell does that thing ride? It looks like he'd snap the back of any conventional horse like a twig."

Priest: "I imagine he must roll around like a rock!"

Companion: "That'd make kidnapping kinda hard, wouldn't it?"

Priest: "Yeah..."

The man's arm fired upward as he began scaling the rocks, and the priest clambered slowly afterward. The man felt the need to ask Hikari the very same question...
