Kalar was almost animalistic at this point. Oblivion sliced down at him and struck true, throwing him backwards and sending him sprawling, his body leaving a trail of shadows and the echoing screams of the damned as the even the brightest of sunlight was turned away by his ever more evil form. Kalar could feel himself still bleeding, yet he bled not blood, but the same inky blackness that exploded from his blade as he made his initial strike...

Kalar (thinking): 'Nothing else matters right now. Nothing's worth doing but defeating him! I will destroy him with the powers that lay within me!'

And still, within his heart, Kalar dove deeper into the shadows, further down into the very depths of his soul to where the purest darkness existed... His own heart, mixed, mingled, and mangled even further, warped by the Invisible's power and the influence of the Heartless over his mind. Blinded he was, by his lust for power and his need to beat Sion, to show his strength to Grey...

As Kalar's mind was further and further thrown to the deep, his physical form so too did change. Black, leathery, oily wings sprouted out from his back, and his posture hunched over, so that soon he was neither human nor Heartless, just a twisted, fanged monstrosity. His suit grew into a long, flowing drapery, and his eyes glowed now a permanent golden color, illuminated behind his ever-lengthening black hair. Teeth became fangs, flecks of acidic spit dripping from them and burning the tip of a slathering tongue. Scythe and sword became one, as the near-transparent blade of Kalar's once-human weapon was overtaken by the edge of the Invisible's sword, making a bastardized weapon that could cleave the very air.

------------------------------------------

Janus: "..........Whoa."

Grey: "Indeed."

Janus' eyes widened as Kalar's transformation passed before his very eyes. Was he even in control anymore? Was this really the power of the Trinity?

....... Did it exist within him, as well?

Janus: "Grey, you can't seriously be allowing this! It's madness! He's going to be completely overtaken by that darkness! Once you give yourself to the Heartless, you're completely lost, for good! The amount of power Kalar gains won't mean a thing if he isn't even Kalar anymore!"

Grey's look turned stern, and he glared at Janus with an intense fire in his eyes...

Grey: "Stop! Don't you think I know that? I have faith in Kalar. And well I should, too."

Janus: "I.... Grrrr......"

------------------------------------------

Almost, Kalar kept thinking. Almost there. It didn't matter. Nothing else mattered, but to throw himself to the Heartless and become one with them. TO give himself to them, to achieve their oneness, their single-minded fury and strength. To join them, to strengthen them even further with his presence. He would. He would. He would.

.....But did he want to, he thought? Did he really?

The voice was small, insignificant next to the majesty, the brilliance of the Heartless, but did he?

'DID HE???' Kalar's mind screamed as his hellborne body shook with a mighty roar, opening its mouth and spraying a blast of shadows at Sion...

Ha! Don't think we've forgotten about you, Peardian... I wanna see your Shy Guys! If they're anything like the rest of your stuff, they'll be good...

I'm especially curious as to what you'll do with the Yoshi's Island Shys, since their art style is already pretty close to being hand drawn...

OOC: Jeez, man, I'm not god-modding... God-modding would be hitting you with an unstoppable superattack. I'm just trying to give you a set goal to work with. You wanna go conventionally, then we will.

"Fine. Your funeral." I said with moxie... I hit another button on the boom box.

"SELECT A STYLE!"

And another button...

"SINGLE PLAY! SELECT DIFFICULTY!"

And one last button...

"HEAVY MODE!"

I scrolled through my choices, and found one that I knew would be very good for the current situation. All that I needed to do now was get Hunter to stay still... And be knocked flat on his back. But how to do that, I wondered...

......And grinned. Slapping my hands together, I felt the familiar transmutating heat that accompanied the electricity of alchemy. I placed my hands on the ground, and the bolts of light charged through the ground at Hunter. When they reached his feet, slabs of marble grew like ropes out of the ground, attempting to bind him flat on his back to the floor. I could only hope this would work.

Janus: "You lose, Grey... He lost control."

Grey: "....Hm. The Trinity isn't ready yet, then. It'll still be some time before he and Garro are on your level of power..."

Janus: "Stop playing games with the hearts of my friends."

Grey: "You call this a game? Kalar will never learn if he is never shown."

Janus: "Must he be shown, or could he have figured it out on his own?"

With that statement, Janus sliced open a hole in space, and stepped through it. He couldn't stand to see any more...

-----------------------------------------

The light that shined from Sion's heart blinded Kalar, now lost almost completely to the darkness. Deep within him, the little voice still whispered, "Why? Why?"

It echoed... The Heartless screamed back, "WHY NOT? WHY NOT?"

And yet still, under the shining light, Kalar writhed in pain and self-conflict.

He rose into the air, black wings fluttering and flapping with undrawn power as he swept towards Sion. With his scythe drawn behind him and his mouth wide open, Kalar twirled in the air, shadows enveloping him for a wide, sweeping strike at the floating being of light that lay before him. As the scythe swung, waves of darkness and void energy blew out from the strike, dragging all that they washed over closer to the ground and out of the sky, including the unrealizing Kalar. His wounds bled freely now, each dark leak seeping back into him and, while weakening him, furthering the Heartless resolve within him to continue to fight.

The demonic Kalar brought his weapon to bear with Sion's blades, blocking up, down, up, to the side, parrying the first few hits, until Sion called out...

Sion: "SLICE!"

Too fast! Ultima flashed through Kalar, burning his spirit with its light, and following itself up with Oathkeeper's white edge, which sliced through with only marginally less intensity. As Sion screamed "FINISHER!", Kalar's body was torn to pieces by the explosive strikes of both blades, leaving him a mess of black blood that collapsed into the tall grass, staining the ground with ashen liquid.

Kalar: "The.... Heartless...."

The shining rays of light that Kalar's soul had endured had revealed deep within him a small, strained, beating heart, one of not only darkness, but of light as well. Sion's attacks, while painful to Kalar to no end, strengthened that light...

"They... won't..."

The black liquid seeped back into Kalar's body... Soon, his Keyblade-inflicted wounds closed up, and rays of black light emitted from where they once were. As he lay on the ground, unsure of whether or not he had life or death about him, Kalar could feel the rays coming away from him. The Drive Fusion had been disrupted. The Invisible's spirit was only now trying desperately to make its escape.

But Kalar didn't want that to happen. He slowly got to his feet. He had to keep the Heartless' power inside of him until he could control it. Only by concentrating, only through sheer force of will could he keep it within him. No longer was he bleeding black blood, now red blood, though in considerably less quantities than the blackness, bled from his wounds. So his extraordinary powers had failed. No matter. He was not yet weakened. Simply normal again, he thought.

His hair had returned to its previous dirty-blonde state. His face was gaunt again, the dark circles gone from his eyes. No fangs. No wings. The tatters in his suit returned. He stood up tall. He reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a handkerchief, trying calmly to sop up all the blood that now flowed from his cuts. His scythe had returned to normal, and he back to the Kalar that was in control, that was both dark and light, instead of one bastardized extreme.

When he had regained his composure, he still said nothing. He only looked at Sion, knowing full well that he wasn't ready to use that kind of power. It did not matter to him, someday he would be stronger. All that there was left to do now was give the audience a good battle, and do his best to win. Maybe then Grey would still see something in him.

Kalar braced himself. He narrowed his eyes, and held out his scythe, which quickly split in twain and shortened into a pair of small handles, both of which grew chains made of the same material as Kalar's scythe blade. The ends of each chain grew into a ball that had many small spikes on it, a pair of flails!

He spun the flails at deadly speeds, and launched himself at Sion, leaping up into the air at the Angelic Fused warrior and swinging both weapons at him in a dual-sided horizontal blow!

I am currently punching my wall and banging my head against my desk in rage and anger at the idiocy of the modern consumer populace.

It's their own fucking fault for buying the game. This is a lot like alcohol... You can buy alcohol easily. You don't HAVE to be a drunkard, but you can buy it. You don't HAVE to drink a little bit, you don't HAVE to drink at all. But you can buy it.

Ever have one of those days where you wake up and you get the urge to do something, something that should be supremely easy, but you find that it's so much harder to do than you thought it would be?

Well, a few days ago I started thinking about Sonic SatAM. You know, the original ABC-based Sonic Anime that I was talking about a few months back.

I miss it deeply. I want it, I need it, and if anyone (Xeogred, I'm looking in your direction....) has ANY information on it at all, I'd be extremely happy to hear it. Yeah, I know, the chances of it coming back for a third season after being in the gutter for 11 years are lower than that of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers suddenly becoming good (points if you get the reference), but still... I'd love to just be able to watch it again. Relive one of the decent parts of my childhood.

There're DVDs of the show released, at least the first few episodes of it, anyway. Dunno about anything else.

Actually, the unofficial name of the anime is Sonic SatAM, since it was aired on saturday mornings on ABC.

The thing is, I've found some new information on it that's not really all that new. Credit goes to Melvin, but there are scans of the long-running Archie comic of the show, which absolutely rules (since it in no way whatsoever relates to that POS that was based off of Sonic 2).

I........... like Sonic CD, but I don't go that far into it. It was another Sonic game, certainly not comparable to Sonic 3 and Knuckles. But a cut above the rest for sure. And I can see where all the tie-ins occur, I liked those too...

As of now I'm just running around searching for the scans.

Nah-uh, that's the illegal part. The scans are licensed, and since the comic's still going on (and apparently has a few million plot crossovers in the process), it's doubtful that any comprehensive archives will be released sometime soon.

My advice is to find them yourself if you can and tell ME about them if you know anything, cause honestly, I've been searching for weeks and I've turned up nothing (probably because I suck with the interweb).

Kalar could only pull the flail in his left hand away from the Keyblade before Sion's axe kick thundered down at him. He took the hit hard in the head, but didn't even miss a beat as gears shifted and cranked in his right arm. The steel monstrosity fired a burst of steam out from the wrist, and his hydraulic fist stayed in place as the force of the piston-like arm fired Kalar backward from Sion. He wrenched his other flail away from Sion's Keyblade and retracted the physics-defying hand (complete with weapon) with action-figure-like precision.

Still saying absolutely nothing, Kalar slapped the handles of the two weapons together at their hilts, and a flash of light bound them to each other as the chains of the flails shortened and the length of the combined hilts grew. Kalar had forged himself some kind of obtuse quarterstaff of spikeball death.

He glared at Sion, took a deep breath, and rushed forward, cartwheeling once with the staff in both hands. The acrobatics were disrupted by the firing of Kalar's metal fist once again as it hit the ground, this time propelling him into an overexaggerated front handspring. The staff, still in his metal hand, flew upward as he retracted the fist in midair and swung one of the swirling metal balls downward at Sion as he fell, following the attack up with a CO2-powered extend-o-kick to Sion's midsection (whereever he may have moved) as soon as Kalar was able to aim his foot.

Ziff, you really shouldn't junk the ESRB on this one... They make it quite clear that it is the parent's, and the parent's responsibility alone to make sure the game is suitable for their child.

The entire parenting system nowadays is bullshit anyhow. Parents ask their kids what they want, rather than telling them what's good for them. Kids want GTA. Parents don't bother saying it's bad, instead they just give because they don't want to seem like the "bad" parent or the "not fun" parent. Plus, the kid screams and whines. I should know, I've seen it. It's horrible at toy stores especially, no matter how rigid our rules are.

When I start working in the game section, I'm not gonna let parents buy games for kids, either... That's like giving someone cigarettes knowing they'll pass them off to minors. The numbers are there for a reason.
