A friend of mine told me a story. |
She's a budding hardcore gamer, and also happens to be quite attractive. One day, she walks into Electronics Boutique to buy some games (she's really into Tomb Raider and action games like that). She goes up to the counters, grabs three games, and goes to purchase them. At the checkout, the games total up to be about 45$. Unfortunately, she only has 35. So the guy at the counter takes a look at her, and suddenly his eyes widen as he discovers that cute girl gamers DO in fact exist. Desperately trying to hit on her, he marks down the price of the games by about 15 dollars, claiming the games to be a part of a promotional package that conveniently came into effect that day. Now, I take her with me when I want to buy games.

Remember when I said that I was participating in an SSBM tournament at my local mall? Well, me and Valcion entered, expecting to kick the crap out of some noobs. First match we saw: Some little kid with a Pikachu and his little sister start ruining a top tier duo's day. That kid was good, he used the thunder attack in ways I've never seen before, taking advantage of its range and actually HITTING SOMEONE WHERE THE CLOUD BEGINS. He was dealing way too much damage to be button mashing. His sister was good, too, and even younger than him. Second Match: Two words: Dual Kirbys. A pair of Val's friends entered, and everyone was wondering who they were using cause it had a pair of question marks next to their names on the rosters. When they pick double Kirbys, the crowd goes insane and starts cheering them on. They lost, but they put up one hell of a fight. Few more matches after that, then it's me and Val's turn. So we get to the controllers, I pick Marth, he picks Samus, we're ready to kick some ass. Our fight lasted exactly three minutes and 14 seconds, and only I got KOs, and they were lucky shots that came from him dealing so much damage that they had to fly away. I thought we were strong, But when I realized how good some of these people were, it hit me that I needed to practice against some people who were stronger than my friends. So the moral of the story here is aside from me wanting to tell how hard I got beaten, you need to fight strong people to become strong yourself.

It's strange, though. For some reason girl gamers are supposed to be a rarity, yet studies show that out of the many people who play video games, in certain demographics there are more girls playing games than guys. I recall once reading that more women in their 30s and 40s play games than men. I don't think the study was well founded, but it would be interesting to see it be true. Needless to say around here people like her are hard to find. There's just too many girls who don't play games, thinking they're boring or something like that. Ah, well. To each their own, and I suppose I should be lucky to have her as a friend anyway, it's nice having a more effeminate side to my usual cadre of gaming friends. Plus I get a new target to toss around in Smash Brothers.

Now I only use the C stick if I need a quick sucker punch to throw my enemies off, and since I play Marth as well, usually his Up+B attack is a better combo breaker.

I've been told that his forum got closed and he stayed a local mod, just without a forum to moderate. That seems fine and dandy, but why not just make him a full mod or a normal member? I'm extremely confused...

IFF makes these answers kinda funky, but they're still along the same lines. ICS: It is sunny IFF the sun is out. Converse: The sun is out if and only if it is sunny. Inverse: It is not sunny if and only if the sun is not out. Contrapositive: The sun is not out if and only if it is not sunny. I think that's how it should work. If it doesn't, then I've placed the IFFs wrong.

Slightly surprised at the completely random induction of his foe's new abilities, Janus thinks fast, and moves even faster. He jumps at Dameon, who is still charging his magic, zips open his bag, and brings it over Dameon's head, somehow covering him entirely and putting out the flame aura due to a lack of oxygen to fuel the fire. He closes Dameon inside the bag, waits several seconds, and unzips the bag, sending Dameon flying out of it, auraless. Janus: "It's a funny thing about this bag, as well as taking almost anything out of it, I can put almost anything in. So, what'd you see? Not many people have been in there, I can tell you. And that magical aura of yours? I better not see it again, you obviously have no control over it yet. So, why don't we recap?" Janus reconverts his bag into hammer form and begins to speak again. "Thus far I've deflected, insulted, and now disrupted you. I still haven't hit you though. So there's really only one more thing I can do, and that's for you to find out. Have you had enough yet, or would you like me to ridicule you some more?"
