Meh, I dunno. I never worked hard in school. Everyone said I reminded them of "Sponge" from "Salute your shorts" because I never paid attention in school, yet I got A's on everything.

Even at the University of Scranton, one of the highest ranked universities in the US, I barely paid attention at all, studied very little, and still managed to get decent grades considering how rarely I went to class, how little I studied, and compounded with the depression I was going through at the time.

I look back and laugh at it all. Tee-Hee!

Yeah, some of us are just lucky.

This has been my last year in high school. The amount of time I spent actually doing schoolwork can be summed up quite easily with the words "Jack" and "Shit", yet my grades are the best that they've ever been in any of my years in school. I'm so "American" (read: Fat, White, Lazy) that it goes from not even being funny to being fucking hilarious, yet I do perfectly fine. This *may* be because the American education system has been on a steady decline (in my opinion anyway) since the No Child Left Behind Act was passed, or I could just have really good information retention and processing skills.

Considering I can't even remember what I ate for dinner 15 minutes ago, I'm guessing it ain't my brain.

Videogaming seems like a chore these days. You have to be constantly on top of mountains of information, or get lost in the tide. Release dates are tossed around, unsettling their fans, and rumors are getting more and more believable by the day. The massive media coverage on videogames has completely taken the fun out of them.

I am going to regress to the days of my youth. I didn't have internet access back then, and gathered precious few scraps of videogaming information from the occasional gaming magazine. I went to Toys 'R' Us and poked around the videogame aisle for a good thirty minutes, and that's how I chose the games I bought, not by listening to some self-important blogger or biased website. And I had fun, I was never dissapointed or upset. It was a joy, videogames were truly great back then, and I think it has more to do with the atmosphere surrounding them than the games themselves.

So I've decided I won't be seeking information on videogames from here on out. And that's saying a lot for someone whose goal in life is the assimilation of all knowledge. I'll want to know what is available to buy, but only in general, not specific dates. I want to know when to go out hunting for something to buy, but I don't want ten thousand screenshots and three gigabytes of text explaining the technical specs of a system a year before I can actually buy it.

I want things to be simple and enjoyable again. And I invite others to do the same. Break your addiction to the media vein, to the information layline, and revert back to the honest gaming ways of your childhood. Get your info about a game from the back of the box, not from sixteen different sources on the internet.

I started doing this about three years ago, ironically when I actually got the internet with unlimited access. From this I have learned that the best way to learn when games are coming out is by going to the store, hearing you guys talk, and occasionally wondering what's shaking from the guys at Penny Arcade. It's bliss!

Alright, it's taking a shitload of willpower to NOT read these spoilers...

But the worst part is I don't see the goddamned movie for a long time. I need this film, life isn't.... FAIR if you all can see it and I can't because I suck.

OOC: Zerodius, Dracoon is correct. I had intended on using the Chaos emerald for later story purposes. This IS a Sonic Adventure 2 based story, after all. Also, if you caught the reference in Ragnarok, Janus has the emerald there too, and Ex doesn't seem to react at all to it. Have you played SA2? The Chaos Emeralds are so important to the plot of the story that if they were to be just randomly drained of their power, the entire world would be thrown so far off balance, that not even Sonic himself could repair it (not that he could stand against Ex in a straight fight anyway...). If you have a billion new ideas that involve pieces of the story that are being thrown around and forming into a neat and interesting plot, then make your own story and put your own ideas into motion where they won't interfere with someone else's ideas. That's the best thing to do, and I guarantee if people think it's interesting enough, they'll take part and you can really cultivate your abilities with that interest.

Schwa had a really good thing going with this story, it can't be taken apart like that, he's the SM. We've got to follow his plot until we can gain enough knowledge of the world he's placed us in to really make a difference. Ex has all the power she needs in her own universe, but this is Schwa's universe, and as such, his plotline needs to be adhered to. You did this in Ragnarok, you did it in Treasure Beyond the Old Door, you're in the process of doing it in High School Hijinx, you did it in Diving into Deep Darkness, and if you don't stop where you are right now, you'll do it to Riddle of the Chao. You aren't a bad roleplayer in your own element, and when it comes down to it, you've been very good in this story so far.

But you need to realize that what Dracoon says is correct: I did stop my own story because it was entered into incorrectly, and because everyone was trying to mess around with my plot. Dark Weapon, Ex, the Hunters, SonicandTails, even Yiusi and Tuxydon, they have very little to do with the plot I had fleshed out. It was supposed to revolve around Janus and Star, with everyone else around to help out.

Second, we can't argue like this inside the story. I know for a fact this is going to affect Hunter very negatively, even if he's not here at the moment, he eventually will read this. This conflict needs to be resolved. Zerodius, you need to leash your character's powers, it's starting to take away from the fun that other users are having.

No, that will never happen. You don't need to worry about post length, the biggest problem you'll ever face as far as Sim Battling goes is lack of content. It's ok to make short posts, so long as they have acknowledgement of an opponent's action, counter to action (or damage notification), action, and witty banter interposed anywhere in the post if you want.

A lot of people just like making long, detailed posts because it's either 1) (in my case) fun, and allows one to use intricate, imaginative moves that are designed to creatively stretch one's mind, 2) challenging, and therefore somehow fulfilling to the battler, or 3) an attempt to add depth and development to a character, and thus the roleplayer's choice need.

The beauty of it is that you can do either! You can still be good at what you do with short posts, so long as you make what you're saying clear and concise, and you don't offend or annoy the other users with any kind of lack of writing ability. If you take your roleplaying as seriously as you say, then there's no reason why you should have any problems present with your style.

Red: "I suppose you're expecting something amazing, Janus?"

The entrance to Sim Battle Arena B, newly rebuilt from the recent NPC attack, lay as host to two figures silhouetted by the blinding special-effects lights situated outside the arena door. Janus nodded, pushing his sunglasses up his nose and running a hand through his hair. He was impressed with Samuel's modifications to the Arena schematics. Who'd have thought someone'd be so helpful with the reconstruction as he?

Janus: "I'm wondering what Melvin will be served."

Red: "Don't you mean "what Melvin will serve?""

Janus: "No. I know what I said."

Janus was very serious in his tone. His, Red, and Green's last battle against the crowd favorite, Team Jarukoth, had left him aching for several days afterwards. It was clear that he'd have to turn up the heat if he was going to succeed in the later rounds of the competition. Creativity was a must, but he needed something special this time... Melvin certainly wasn't just some normal combatant.

"Wish me luck, Evan?"

He looked at Red and raised an eyebrow. Red grinned and clapped him on the back, his superior strength sending Janus stumbling into the arena.

Red: "Do you need it?"

Janus' feet hit the smooth marble, and Sam's modifications were instantly brought to life! There was a bright flash, and the arena turned to rocky, desolate terrain, complete with dark clouds and rolling thunder in the sky. With liquid special effects surging to and fro, one would be hard-pressed to believe it was a centralized simulation. He swung himself to an upright position, and prepared himself. But then, he got an idea.

Janus: "I guess not..."

He closed his eyes. This was going to be extremely risky, and extremely idiotic of him, but it sounded incredible on paper. Suddenly, he called out!

"Alright, Melvins! I know you're out there! Listen to me!"

This was folly. Sheer folly. He was heading for a severe asswhooping. But, Janus figured, if he was going to get crushed, he was at least going to do it in style...

"I want you all to take me on at once, no matter how unbalanced the odds are! I don't know how many of you there are, or how many universes you come from, but I want to take you all on alone! Please, Melvins. I'm asking nicely, I don't see any reason why this is an unreasonable request for a sanctioned battle, if it's ok with both combatants...."

He took Satchel off his back, and a flash of lightning crackled in the sky, striking at his feet and sending rocks everywhere. He had to be ready for anything.

"But whatever your choice may be, I wish you the best!"

Not at all fazed by the reappearance of the mysterious Cyberpokemon, Janus executes a diving tackle to shove her out of the way of Schwa's psibeam, as it heads straight for the creature! He gets to his feet, takes his hammer from his back, and gets in the way of the psibeam, deflecting the powerful attack with the head of his weapon.

Janus: "Stand down, Schwa! It's a Dark Chao, that's all!"

Immediately upon seeing the evil-looking creature, Grey's chao squirms in his arms, and begins to cry loudly, burying its head in the folds of Grey's coat.

DChao: "Chaw, haw, haw, haw!"

It points and laughs at the young Chao, as Grey scowls at it.

Grey: "Hey, now! What's the big idea with you? Janus, what is that thing?"

The evil chao's tiny hands form an obscene gesture at Grey, who starts toward it angrily, but is stopped by Janus taking a firm hand to his shoulder.

Janus: "Don't, Grey. It's like I said, that's a Dark Chao. The opposite of a Hero Chao, that thing's so evil that it's no wonder Schwa felt the need to attack it on the spot. But, my violent friend, there is a special case to these chao."

He looks over at Dracoon. Anyone else would probably get singed by this, but...

"Dracoon, you're the one in armor here... Could you please do us a favor and go over and give that Chao a hug? I know it sounds a little unreasonable, but trust me, from the looks of him he seems to be newly transformed. If you give him some genuine affection, I have a hunch that something interesting should happen. Just, be careful. He'll probably try to attack you."

Janus smiled hopefully at Stacice. Maybe she could convince him?
