That I can play? Parts of "Always Your Way" by My Vitriol. That or most of "Faster" by the Manic Street Preachers. |

Since this thread's going to get closed if anyone posts one, I'm just going to trash it now. |

It's dead. Most of the animators are elsewhere. Steve Ressel's retired. |
Let it go and buy the DVD's. What do you think got Family Guy back on Fox? Regardless, sticking the show on Fox won't make it any more alive. The show is dead and buried. It's over. My intense hatred for petitions on that site knows no bounds, but I'll leave this open.

Judging by the spoilers, Smackdown is a must-see this week. |
Spoiler: Chris Benoit takes a crap in about as much time as it took to beat Orlando Jordan at Summerslam. Then proceeds to beat Jordan AGAIN. In 23.4 seconds. Yes, they have a timer. And Simon Dean outs Batista as a user of the Simon System. Wacky and zany hijinks (well, for Batista, at least) ensue in what turns out to be a total comedy match.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, at least that time period, were quite interesting. Maybe even lump in U2 (Joshua Tree through Zooropa, possiblay). |

Originally posted by Snika Eh, if we're counting 1994 in that time period, I've got an album for ye. Forget about In Utero, try The Holy Bible by the Manic Street Preachers. The circumstances surrounding the album are kind of similar in an odd way (look up what happened with MSP in that time period) but it's better, if you ask me. Less abrasive musically, but MUCH, MUCH more pointed and powerful lyrically. It's accessible, in a weird way (try "Faster") but the songs are incredibly misanthropic and all about some of the less savory and more shameful aspects of society. For instance, there's some anorexia, prostitution (in the name of capitalism? YOU decide!) and two songs about concentration camps, one almost onomopoetically called "The Intense Humming of Evil" which, musically, can go toe-to-toe with "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter"... and kick the shit out of it. Only hitch is that if you want to get it legally, you either have to import it or get the 10th Anniversary Giant Ass-Fuck Edition, with two discs and a DVD, which has a bunch of videos and a revealing half-hour interview session with the surviving members of the band (I TOLD you it was similar!). Demos and live tracks abound, and the second disc is the unreleased US mix of the album. Best $20 I spent, but it might run ya more if you buy it new.

Manic Street Preachers (Britpop, but they did ape Guns n' Roses early on...) |
Dredg (new stuff sounds like really arty Incubus) Doves (kind of dreamy Britpop, good atmospherics) Social Distortion (pioneers in California punk) I quite like the idea of a plugging thread, so I'll sticky this. PLUGS GO HERE NO NEW THREADS.
