Goddammit. They were playing up in MA with Hot Water Music, Sparta, and some other band I liked a coupla years ago. And now HWM's on hiatus, Sparta's lost a guitarist, and I don't remember the other band.

Relevant stats: WinXP (SP2), USB 1.1 flash drive, no mapped network drives

For some reason, when I stick my flash drive (Lexar JumpDrive, if it matters) into my comp, Windows recognizes it, but the drive doesn't show up in Explorer. It will appear in the folders pane once I type in the drive letter manually, but doesn't come up otherwise. I know it's possible to get it to show up when you plug it in, for my work comp does this. Had to get our IT guy to do it, though. How can I get this to show up as soon as I plug it into my home comp?

San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom shook his head and said "What an idiot."

What sparked this? A training video produced by 49ers PR director Kirk Reynolds. Reynolds also organized a two-and-a-half hour diversity seminar, and the video's a follow-up. He organized it due to a flappette sparked by then-Niners RB Garrison Hearst's homophobic comments. You can see the video, anonymously sent to the San Francisco Chronicle, on the site. Yes, it's censored. Badly. But maybe that's just Quicktime artifacts. The video features:

* Reynolds, as the mayor, in Newsom's office and leading a tour of San Francisco. And presiding over a mock gay wedding, which ends in lesbian sex (they're still in foreplay mode when the camera pans away).
* Trainer (at the time) George Chung translating a Chinese-language article on the Niners: "49ers love being in community. Very patriotic . . . support president and his George Bush erection."
* LB Julian Peterson (holding out at the time) panhandling: "Will Tackle for Food or Cash."
* Reynolds flipping out at a heckler.
* Someone, purportedly a member of the SF Giants, catching the first pitch of a game, then slipping Reynolds a bribe and thanking him for his policies on hookers and booze.

(It should be noted Reynolds is now the former Niners PR director.)

Do the words "DIOS MIO!" have any meaning to you? They SHOULD!

The only problem with this show is that it ran 2:35 or so. Meaning I didn't need the three-hour tape.

People: GET THE REPLAY OR WAIT FOR THE DVD. I CANNOT emphasize this enough. It's WORTH IT.

Edit: Especially if your tape's stuck in the VCR. Got it out, mercifully.
