Grey gets dap of the highest order for invoking Laharl. Disgaea's got some of the keys to a good RPG:

* Not falling into the cliches of standard-issue RPG's (hiya, Cloud... FF7...pretty much everything everyone else has ever complained about regarding the Final Fantasy series).
* A GOOD sense of humor (Laharl getting used do demonstrate the most dangerous of tasks, like not letting yourself getting gangbanged in fights).

And I haven't even gotten very far yet at all.

Love stories, I don't care about. Especially if it neuters a strong character. Oh, and SS's got a point. No flowing capes. For anyone. And no comically huge implements or body parts. We get it. (continues being crochety)

And yes, I did send that email. They never responded, much to my dismay.

Well, considering their SITE, I'd be amazed if they even knew what they were doing...

Oh, and it seems PicKeeper "is now a FREEWARE". They're new at this, aren't they?

(The point of this exercise: If you can't spell or get a handle on grammar on your site, why the hell would I buy ANYTHING from you?)

Please see this thread to see why these threads suck, your sister sucks, and your Alliance sucks (tm Darth Vader... in a userpic on LJ).

A winner is me.

* Outkast: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below
* Beatles: Anthology 2, Anthology 3
* Snapcase: End Transmission
* The Mars Volta: Frances the Mute
* PJ Harvey: Uh Huh Her

I'm also waiting on the following to arrive (via eBay):

* Girls Against Boys: House of GVSB
* REM: Up
* Woodstock '94
* State of the Union

That last one is a benefit compilation put out by Dischord, including DC bands like Fugazi (FUCK YES) and Shudder to Think (Haven't heard 'em, but maybe YES?). And this is the THIRD copy of that Outkast album I've had. First one I got a week before it came out, realized it was edited, and gave it to my girlfriend. Second one was a mistake, for I won a giveaway on a friend's blog (I was supposed to get that Neptunes compilation, ...Clones) and he sent me the pre-release version of said Outkast album. Sold that copy on Amazon. This one, mercifully, is the dirty dirty version (sorry Mos Def, I'm not getting crunk with it).

They haven't really run any good shows lately. Kinda sad, but my interest in wrestling's faded since I went to that Smackdown! taping in December 2002.

(Oh, and I believe there's indy discussion in the WWE thread... maybe make it a general wrestling topic?)

Don't worry about it. The problem with this type of thread is it generally devolves into listing bands (despite it being about genres in the first place).

However, as I am no longer a full mod (or even local here) I can't flex nuts and close. Who knows, maybe the rest of staff likes these threads.

European soccer fans, help us! (By "us", I mean "me". )

I saw an ad for Stand Up Speak Up, a campaign led by Thierry Henry and other soccer players to eradicate racism in European soccer. Yes, there's Livestrong-style wristbands (in this case, intertwined black and white). Well, as this is for European soccer, I can't get the bands here legitimately. They're selling on eBay for

Oh, Alex Shelley. I'm told he's the bomb diggity y0. Liked what I saw of him in TNA, so let's hope he works up here at some point.

And haven't seen CM Punk wrestle, but his LiveJournal's quite the interesting read.

Oooh. I did email Nike, and here's their response:

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Stand Up and Speak campaign. As you have experienced this is a European effort so the bands are not available in the US.

Will they be offered in the United States? Nike does not have immediate plans to do so, however we strongly encourage you to check back with us in a month or so.

We appreciate the time you have taken to contact us and look forward to hearing from you again.

Sincerely,

Lisa
Nike

So who knows. Maybe they will eventually, but as I'm impatient, if they've got 'em there...

As I only speak English, I'll defer to Dikembe Mutumbo, Patrick Ewing, and Yao Ming:

EWING: How many languages do you speak, seven?
MUTUMBO: I speak Ebonics now, so eight. Yao, do you speak Ebonics?
YAO: (shrugs)

Most of them don't do it for looks. They do it for a release. Because they need to control something in their lives.

I'm just going to shut up, because it's entirely possible you DO know someone who does it for looks. But cutters that I know do it because of issues, or less likely because they're attention whores.

No, I don't have a 15 winning over a 2.

But you know what to look for.

That's right. "Stinky Bracket!"

Colleen: 'Tis an ESPN ad for their tourney pools. Guy walks by a copier in an office, sees a bracket, looks in horror, and yells "STINKY BRACKET!" Rest of office riots. Janitor walks by, picks up the bracket, and says "It's just a fifteen beating a two. It's not THAT bad."
