Well, you've unintentionally stolen my idea (Japanese leagues). Are there 12 teams between both leagues? Thought it was something like nine now. There's other Asian leagues too, no? Korean and Taiwanese. But I get exclusive drilling rights on a couple of minor leagues around here. (Okay, maybe not.) I'm checking right now to see when MLB had 12 or 24 teams. Maybe you could cobble together a Negro... wait, no, I think I'll be doing that. Even got the year and everything in mind. Hrm. Well, if you cut off at 1976, you'd have 12 AL teams (minus the Mariners, Blue Jays, and Devil Rays). You'll also conveniently have 12 NL teams, since you'll only drop the Rockies, Marlins, and Diamondbacks. Brewers will be in the AL, though. 1990? There were 14 AL teams and 12 NL teams (AL's post-1976 expansion came in 1977 and 1998, while the NL expanded in 1993 and 1998). This was gleaned from baseball-almanac.com. So, if you're going to do a matched set of hacks (one per league from the last year before expansion pushed 'em over 12 teams) you're looking at these lineups: AL (1976): Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox California Angels Chicago White Sox Cleveland Indians Detroit Tigers Kansas City Royals Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins New York Yankees Oakland A's Texas Rangers NL (1992): Atlanta Braves Chicago Cubs Cincinnati Reds Houston Astros Los Angeles Dodgers Montreal Expos New York Mets Philadelphia Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants St. Louis Cardinals No one relocated between 1977 and 1993, so those would be the same, even if you did a 1976 NL hack. Think you could do a little something with that? |

Oh yeah, I did miss that detail, 46. Kinda funny how they were ahead of the curve on White (who I don't think anyone outside of Oklahoma boosters REALLY wanted to win the Heisman, and even then that's only because they figured Peterson couldn't win as a freshman... we know he deserved an equal shot) with him winning last year, but Leinart does deserve it this year out of the upperclassmen. Maybe Smith if he played in a bigger conference. |

I don't think that anyone's going to dispute this being one of the most comprehensive hacks to date. However, now you've gotta run with the ball and come up with a good gameplay experience. Don't let us down. |

I'm sure we've all seen these systems... kinda shaped like an N64 controller, holds 700-something games (only abour 70 unique ones, of course), and maybe eight good games. Anyone try to crack one open and find the ROMs within, then replace them? I think it might be a very nice plug and play solution, if only you could put some GOOD ROMs/hacks on there. I'd imagine you have to use the same size ROMs, maybe even ones that use the same mappers? |

Pretty soon, I think Beltran'll either fire Boras or find some sap that'll pay that much. I'm betting on the former. |
What, Wil Cordero doesn't do it for ya, Colleen? Pedro (4 years, $56 mil)... well, I can understand. They wanted to get the pub, the Red Sox weren't willing to give him four years (which they shouldn't do, really) and Pedro's just looking for his best interests. Will his arm fall off at some point this season? Probably. During the contract? How you say... mos def? And Kris Benson: Wait until I work for the Mets before you cheat on your wife. Pease? ;D (restricted) | (restricted) |

It's not that I wanna play hacks on a TV, it's more just load it up with a bunch of decent games and pack up the NES if you feel like it. |
MoN: I was thinking of the N64-shaped ones, because they're probably the most common. But I guess for the purposes of discussion, any similar plug-and-play pirate will work.

geeogree: Maybe it's not just the restrictions, but a lack of ambition in regards to the general populace? Although that could be a symptom and not the disease. |
Ooh, idea. I blame the Boomers.

np: Ja Rule feat. Fat Joe & Jadakiss: "New York New York" |
Blech for the first verse. Because it's Ja Rule's. Although the beat's surprisingly not significantly less than hot. And he only gets the first verse and first chorus. So yeah, in fact, there IS a Ja Rule song I don't utterly LOATHE. But I credit Fat Joe and Jada for that. Remember when people were saying Jadakiss would be the big solo star from the Lox? Were they ever... ... right. (restricted) |

Tim Hudson: STILL not a Red Sox (singular). But guess who is? |
Edgar Renteria. 4/$40 million. Not bad, really. Maybe they don't think Hanley's gonna be the guy at SS? Oh, uh, yeah, that too. Braves traded for Hudson... gave up Juan Cruz and two other players. Not Marcus Giles, mind you. Good move on their part, if ya ask me. So who's gonna play 2B for Oakland? Why, Keith Ginter, of course! They traded two minor leaguers to Milwaukee for him.

Uncle fuckers. I think ESPNews had someone from a paper in Arizona saying there's a chance Randy'll change his mind, considering recent acquisitions. But still, feh. |
Oh, and Seattle may not be teh s uck next season. Richie Sexson (4/$48?) and Adrian Beltre (5/$64) will be their new corner infielders. Ka-ching.

Anyone else think this is just getting pointless? Sure, it's not every day you can get Randy Johnson, but the longer this is dragging on (still no word either way today), the less likely it seems. |
(The deal now has the Yanks also getting Kaz Ishii, LA taking Mike Koplove, and Arizona picks up minor-league pitcher Brandon Weeden.)

For some reason, I can't connect to the iTunes store. iTunes has no problem accessing online radio stations, but it can't seem to handle much else. I know there's a certain port it uses, but that shouldn't be an issue: my girlfriend has sort of the same security setup (ZoneAlarm for a firewall, XP SP2) and no problems. We're both on dialup, too. I'm on MSN, though, and she's on SBC/Yahoo. Any idea what in the blue hell is going wrong? |
