We've gotta see the NBA take a page from various European soccer leagues. Next few Pistons home games, EMPTY ARENA. There's no reason the fans should be able to get on the court.

np: Christiansen: "Kentucky Goddamn"

Break out the At the Drive-In comparisons, brothers and sisters! (See, I not only summed up the band's sound, BUT ALSO alluded to another release of theirs, the EP Forensics, Brothers and Sisters!. How you say... +1" e-penis?)

They seem to love them some tempo shifts, with the verses flipping constantly between fairly fast bass/manic vocals and, well, slow guitar/manic vocals. Singer does have sort of the same approach as Cedric Bixler, only his voice is a little, uhm, fuller? There's more behind it, at least. Same deal with their other instrumentation... a little like AtDI, but meatier. I think it's about that oh-so-awkward time known as YOUR late teens. Anyway, highly recommended. And a couple of reviews compared them to Ink & Dagger, so I'm'a download.

(In other news, Soulseek needs more The The.

They're screwed. 8th place at best in the conference.

Dude. EASTERN CONFERENCE.

They'll be fine if they can maybe go .400 while O'Neal's suspended. Then it's but five more without Stephen Jackson. Artest? Well, they ARE screwed without him, but not that bad.

The Pistons organization needs to show some onions and bring the SHITHAMMER down on the fans who did that. Ban for life for anyone who instigated, pull some tickets... I still like my empty arena idea.

AF's got it. All you can really do is resample or change compression formats. If you were so inclined, I'm actually satisfied with Apple's AAC compression (M4P extension). Can't say anything about other formats, though.

np: The Bad Plus: "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Deaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. It starts off like a fairly standard cover, then goes into complete batshit territory for the second verse and chorus. By the time the big chorus/outro rolls around, they've worked their way back to the original melody, but not exactly. In other words, what jazz is supposed to be.

Oh, I forgot to mention. They're a small combo (piano/bass/drums) that plays originals, but isn't afraid to cover other, more recent and decidedly non-jazz songs. Like Aphex Twin's "Flim" (also on this CD). And, uhm, "Heart of Glass". New album, they take on "Iron Man" and the Pixies's "Velouria". Me likee.

I don't use it, but here's why some do.

* Because it's what WMP does by default.
* Roughly equivalent sound quality at smaller bitrates (just handles different frequencies better... I forget which is which, but one doesn't like bass and the other don't take too kindly to treble).
* Because they hate you and the concept of "fair use". (Content providers only.)

Gimme MP3 any day, twice on Sundays, anywhere you want to. :>

Winter meeting season, which means a whole lotta people are going to be making trades and there's gonna be juuuust a few signings.

For instance, David Wells is signing with the Red Sox. Could be as much as two years, $18 million. Yes, the same guy that wanted to blow up Fenway.

Phillies get Jon Lieber (aka, the only guy that could shut Boston down in the ALCS). Three years... $21 million? Great move if ya ask me.

Arthur Rhodes, who got traded to the Pirates in the Jason Kendall deal (along with Mark Redman), isn't long for Pittsburgh. He's headed to Cleveland for Matt Lawton.

See kids, this is why all y'all need to be careful with your systems. Only consoles I had which are unplayable were my Genesis and SNES.
