Herein lies the problem, VN:

* Kobe will probably stay if Phil leaves.
* GP's not going anywhere, because he's not going to make $5 million anywhere else now.
* Malone's as good as gone, but that's small comfort.

So they're not dead yet, and maybe this'll light a fire under their asses...

Wait, didn't we say that after they got knocked out in the second round last season?

...

We actually had a couple of accidents around here in the past couple of years... recently, someone died at Six Flags New England (formerly Riverside) when they went flying off a roller coaster... I don't know why they said the safety harness didn't work. And I think someone died at Lake Compounce at another rollercoaster, but I forget how that happened. Both probably were preventable if people did their jobs as well as physically possible, but what you're talking about is just plain incompetence.

I'm going to tell you this one time: STOP DOING THAT. People were banned in the past for doing EXACTLY what you're doing. Badly.

Anyway, an open letter for you.

Yeah, but let's hope they don't follow the same attendance trend. The Expos drew less than 4000 for a game a couple of days ago...

Norton got the hook because he couldn't get out of his deal with MTV to do some show this summer... if they're gonna boot him for being too successful, they've gotta throw out a bunch of ringers (Kathleen Madigan, Sue Costello... wait, she took care of that one herself, Ant).

And it's Dan Naturman, YD. I keep forgetting his name, but he was easily the funniest one there, and he didn't make it. So that pretty much narrows it down.

If I was Wiggins, I'm not sure I woulda flown out there if I knew I wouldn't move on. Then again, he called himself a saloon comic and he'd work anywhere (he WAS in Topeka when they called, you know...) so he'd probably do it and take advantage of the exposure. I wonder if that high school kid from the Chicago auditions (Wiggins was basically mentoring him there) is gonna go next time around... he's got potential.

Sign of the night (non-spoiler because it already happened):

"LUTHER PLAYS HORSHU"

See, because Luther Reigns (what a dumbass way to spell his last name) used to wrestle for WCW as Horshu, and... yeah.

Anyone else think JBL was getting a touch shoot-tastic tonight? He is a pretty hardcore conservative, and a lot of what he said comes straight out of the Neocon Handbook, tweaked to be in a heel promo. But notice how they conveniently danced around WHY he got fired. They never mentioned that it was for goose-stepping and hailing Hitler in Germany. He said they fired him because they suddenly found out "I was a WRESTLER?!" Guess that means they found out wrestlers do some inexcusable shit in the name of portraying a character.

Anya: My apologies. You just traded for Billy Koch. ;P Although since you do have a relatively stable closer in Benitez (when'd you ever think you'd see THAT sentence?) so I'm sure he ain't in any danger.

Just wondering... have they already played the ex card there? Because that was last season, and they're doing season 5 here shortly. If there was ever a chance for homicide on reality TV, I'd think that'd be it.

Geeheehee. I got my invite from some totally random person. (thumbs nose)

Although when I get some invites, I'll share. (I suppose.) Just a matter of when that'll be.

I think that this is actually as far as they've fixed it. From now on, it's not really in their hands any more.

Except I do mind getting censored CD's. I want the whole thing, released as the artist intended. That's also why the 7 Series offends me... lop off half an album and sell it for the same price? Fuck YOUUUUU.

EL: Dunno if I've been to an HMV. If I did, it was in Vancouver or NYC. And now they're pulling out of the US... I'll stick to the used bins or, surprisingly enough, Target. Hey, I got Rooney for $8, Modest Mouse for $10. Yet another reason why Wal-Mart can lick me.

Well, by all accounts, Luther's no Kenzo Suzuki. He's actually passable in the ring. Never saw him as Horshu, though.

I'd be amazed (and not in a good way) if Mordecai/Eddie headlined anything. Next PPV that has SD involvement is Summerslam, so I think Mordecai/Eddie might, at most, do a free super-SD. More likely, it'll either be like Jericho talking about the title (without actually being in an angle for it) or like the Bashams lately... give him something to do so he doesn't have to wrestle JBL to further the feud.

Heian: XD That's a good one.

trans: Not anymore. He's on the DL, and even when he comes back, Hawkins is the closer now. Borowski had one good year, really, and that's it. He was eh with the Astros, I believe.

On the tangentially-related topic of cheap enemies: Those rabbits in MM2 (mostly in Wood Man's stage) should NOT take off that much energy from one frickin' CARROT.

But there is no more annoying, bitch-like enemy than those flying fuckers that just dive-bomb you in MM... I think someone mentioned them in the second post.

Just looked it up, and Baseball Almanac sez 58. Red Barrett threw it for the Boston (now Atlanta) Braves against the Reds back in August 10, 1944. Two-hit shutout, no strikeouts. The opposing pitcher also threw a complete game, giving up two runs on six hits with one strikeout. How long was the game? 1:15. The next closest was 67, back in 1915.
