Anyone else knew about this?

Yes, for a long time too ...

I'm sure others know about this.

Hence the name: "Final Fantasy".

I wouldn't mind playing that old Imp racing like game though, for the NES.

have a look at my page, then:
http://snesdev.romhack.de

there are several step-by-step guides on how to assemble snes cartridges from roms.
for zelda 3, you'd proceed just like treasure hunter g (well, unless you convert the whole game to hirom like i did, but i havent touched my zelda 3 files for ages. )

its not that hard, actually.

The only problem is it doesn't seem like I'd be able to put SD3 on a ntsc cart, would I?

Hopefully there is a way, regardless, those tutorials are nice, and I'll probably try this out once I can get my hands on a few extra cartridges or something.

Heh, never thought about that one.

I was expecting you to say something like "Anakin and his hand fetish".

All my friends have been joking around about that one.

Yeah, and I'm not sure if he's continueing it.

I loved that hack though, the new graphics were awesome, and the ASM trick to have an "intro" level was pretty nice too.

But yeah, I've played a handful of good Megaman 2-3 hacks myself, can't remember any of them specifically though.

I really wish there were more MM5-6 hacks though, they had new gameplay elements compared to the older ones which could make hacks more interesting, but to me it only seems poplular to hack Megaman 1-3 or something.

I think most of us fans here like Abnormal Freak said, all enjoyed the puppets over CG.

That's something I thought brought the new Trilogy down a bit, way too much CG. I mean, even the early-Storm-Troopers are completely animated, minus their faces, thus ... I couldn't help but notice that it looked stupid.

As for Luke, MathOnNapkins is probably right, since it's pretty much impossible for Luke to even get full training in the Jedi ways, with all the Jedi dead for the most part.

Maybe it's just me, but I think Force Jump, Force Grab, and little things like that are already essential, and nothing too big.

So in a sense, you'd already have those kinds of Force Powers no matter what.

And thus they milked Final Fantasy, over, and over, and over again.

I really wish Square would have taken other series further, like the Chrono games, or the Mana series.

1. How do you stand that ?
As for me, it really depends on the game. In RPGs which I mostly play, it is easy and mostly affected by two factors for me. First are fast loading battles and second, a not too heavy battle track which might be worn out after a short time already. So in Final Fantasy I didn't like some parts which have a long introduction where I anyway want to run. Then you'll have to wait at least one or two enemy attacks when not leveled up - this goes on my nerves.
Combined with an insanely high encounter rate is deadly for my motivation when the dungeons' sizes might exceed some borders with not too many save points and/or too high item consumption.

2. So it is the package the game is put into for me, what it says about motivation.
New graphics alone are boring, but if you put only few, but very good ideas into the sequel/similar game, I won'T say anything even when the levels/tactics itself are not too much changed to other games.

1. Thus, is why Xenosaga got old.
2. Thus, is what I thought happened with Xenosaga Ep. II. Sure the battling was somewhat better than the first games, but after awhile to me at least, I really did get old and repetitive just like the original.

Other than that, RPG wise I've never really had issues, only with Final Fantasy I because it seemed very very repetitive.

I agree with you on the most part, music is definitely a heavy factor here too. I personally thought FF9's battle theme was lacking compared to FF7 and FF8 (especially the other world battle theme) though, it was slower paced, and lower tuned compared to FF7 and FF8's upbeat dramatic music. I personally liked that, but I don't think you'd agree with me on that.

Loading times in RPG's can really ruin the game for me sometimes, especially in FF:Chronicles with Chrono Trigger. You had to wait a few seconds for every single battle, you had to wait a few seconds to simply go into the menu. But, I can't really complain, all I really need to say is the original is much more enjoyable (for the SNES). Same goes for Final Fantasy VI, even though the loading times weren't too bad in Antholgy, I enjoyed the game a lot more while I played it on the SNES over the PSX.

As for going back to playing RPG's again, I have done that with a handful of games: Chrono Cross, Trigger, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy VI and VII, Suikoden, Vagrant Story, etc. Just because I remember having a blast with those games when I played it years ago, but I kind of forget things. So, I just want to simply experience the games again and see what I may have missed out on.

As for sidescrolling games, I really don't know how to explain myself on that. I grew up playing videogames before I could even talk correctly (started playing them when I was 3 years old), so of course, back in that age all I was playing really was Zelda, Mario, Megaman, Blaster Master, Metroid, Battletoads, etc. And these are all games that I can go back to and still find myself fascinated with. Old games for me just have great replay value, and almost never get old.

Games these days though, even though I'm a big time modern gamer myself, they're just much more complicated than what they used to be. That's not a bad thing, but I honestly don't think games have that same replay value that they had 10 years ago.

ww: [quoted post] In other words, we can agree now?

Legious: Yes, I absolutely hated how they added "stealth" gameplay to TWW, and required you to use them quite often in the beginning.

ww: [above post] That, I can honestly say I agree with. Even though I've clearly stated I didn't really enjoy TWW, it wasn't a "horrible" game. It did have a large world, and when you were actually on the 'islands' it was fun. I just personally really thought that the whole Ocean theme kind of ruined the majority of the game. (I know I sound like I'm contridicting myself here. TWW wasn't really a 'bad' game, but I honestly will say it was is my least favorite Zelda game).

Posted on 05-22-05 11:10 PM, in A big issue with my board. Link
Ever since I converted from Acmlm+Erk, I've had a major problem with old threads concerning post layouts.

I know for a fact it's not something messed up with someones layout, handfuls and handfuls of old threads that were fine before the conversion were fine, but they aren't anymore.

I haven't seen it happen in awhile, but it just happened recently in a newer thread. It looks just as "messed up" as the other threads that have this same issue.

The problem can be resolved with switching to Viewing Signatures and Headers with "Auto-Updating", but not every user has that set.

I'd link to a thread, but my board, just like here requires email registration, so I'm not sure if any of you here would atually go through that.

So, I'm just unsure what's happened. I'm thinking it could be a database issue or something.

But, are there any global MySQL commands in PMA that I could use to set all users to be set on "Auto-Updating"? If there are, that would probably be the easiest thing to do for now, then just take away the option of viewing Layouts normally without updating.
