| I'm just going to go ahead and say this: I'd rather play Halo's campaign than Halo 2's. It feels much more dramatic, more realistic, flows better, and leaves you satisfied. I've probably beaten Halo completely through 50+ times, but no matter how hard I try Halo 2 just seems to be boring. Things I didn't like: - The way the levels were setup, you'll believe you're on level 2 when you're on level 5. - The rock music. My god, please, they felt completely out of place and didn't fit the mood at all. - Way too many plotholes. - Seemed short. Still though Halo 2 is a finely polished game, multiplayer is kick ass. Already been to a few LAN parties, and now I'm just waiting to get Xbox Live. Still though Halo 2 does definently have some dissapointing parts, and things just seem rushed and incomplete. Hopefully the next one will be better ... |

| This is a tough one, I can't exactly just pick one. They're different. Different moods, different settings, different battling, etc. They're both top notch games. But I guess if I absolutely had to pick 1, I'd pick CT. I'm a big time fan of anything Sci-Fi in a game and I really liked the futuristic parts of CT, being 2000 AD and the part with the floating island. (forgot the name ...) Also CT gives you more replayability with different endings, and new game +. Still though, both are great. And for the record, FFVI is the best FF. ![]() |

| I never really use it, unless forced to like in Metroid Prime or something. But they're used more like menu surfing in Prime, instead of actually controlling you. | |||

| FF8 definently seemed the most futuristic. Most of the FF's though seem to be both medevil and futuristic to an extent. FFIX though was almost all medevil, and the art (backgrounds and such) were insanely detailed and awesome. I think it's called Hybird Fantasy, when it's a game being both medevil and futurstic at the same time. FF7 seemed a lot like this, Midgar? Yet you're still using swords, summoning beasts, and using magic in a way. A mix of both is the coolest. I'd say FFVI and FFVII had the coolest settings. |

| (This isn't specifically about videogames, it's about their market and involvement in the economy now and such, so I figured it could go here, if not feel free to move it...) Would you look at that, people are starting to realize videogames aren't just for kids these days! ![]() Link, and Radio to listen too. |

| Yep, I take it you read this by any chance? http://bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=1074758 (I read the entire thing ... lol) Some of it, I will say is very believable. I seriously can recall Bungie saying that this will "End the Halo series" and be the last Halo game, saving human kind. Nonetheless if you haven't read that post at bungie.net (Ziffski, mainly you) you should seriously check it out, that guy points out a lot of good things to spark speculation. I also dislike how the books are very distant now. According to First Strike the Covanent had in fact found Earth, human's homeworld, and were preparing to attack it. Well according to Halo 2, the Covanent "stumbled" upon it, accidently. I know that the books and games are not supposed to be linked, but it would have made the Halo universe entirely, better if you ask me. ![]() Also like you said Ziffski the guy and many others claim the Arbiter levels to be "filler" levels, that were originally not going to be in the game. Either way, Bungie sure did promise a lot of things that we didn't end up getting. But if you can look back to 1998 when Halo was first in development, you'd know it changed completely when Microsoft bought out Bungie, and nearly forced them to make the game for the Xbox. | With the E3 demo level being taken out. "It was boring, and there were framerate problems." Quote from Bungie staff that you can hear on the LE disc. My assumption is Bungie purposely did what they did to wait for the Xbox 2 / Xenon, or whatever next platform they're going to go on to make Halo 3 and make it with what they wanted, and what they wanted to originally do. Apparently from what they "make" it sound like, the Xbox alone wasn't powerful enough to fufill everything that they wanted to be in the game. So in short Bungie made Halo 2 the way it is purposely, so they can make another Halo game to an extent they originally intended and wanted. Sure it's an excuse, but if we get a Halo game with levels that look like all of the levels on Earth in Halo 2, that would ultimately kickass. (those 2 levels were easily the best ...) Speaking of the Flood, check out this un-included enemy that apparently didn't make the actual game: (if it stretches the page, go have a ball of cheese)![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a video: http://useruploads.mythica.org/uploads/FloodJuggernaut.wmv At first I kind of assumed the Flood were created by the Forerunner, as a "punishment" vessel to whomever wanted to control the power of the Halo's. (play god and in doing so, they must suffer the wrath of the Flood). That idea went down the drain once you learn the Forerunner actually wiped out their race to stop the spreading of the Flood. Recently our school district recieved "bus bomb threats" for several schools. This was announced at about .. 2:30 or so, 30 minutes until I would be leaving to go home, riding a bus. I don't know much about emulators of this kind ... so thought I'd ask. ![]() Are there any good Mac OS emulators out there for a regular PC / Windows computer? All I'm wanting to do is simply be able to play Marathon 1 and 2. If it's not possible, darn. ![]() |

I was going to ask ... but you quickly answered my questioned. ![]() If you're looking for a good online gaming community, Live is definently the place. The service is great too, and like you said, there's easily tons of games that support it. (Not to mention Halo 2, a major plus this time). The Xbox alone isn't a bad deal, but if you really plan on getting Live, I'd say it's completely worth it. |

Something simple I always do ... that seems to help somewhat I guess. ![]() You don't exactly have to look directly at people, look somewhat above them / behind them, to them they'll be seeing you giving them eye contact when you're not exactly doing that. It's a simple thing, but it's always seemed to help me somewhat. People say practicing the speech / talk with yourself is always a good thing to do too, haven't done it myself though. Mainly, like other said, try to be yourself. (edited by Xeogred on 11-18-04 09:31 PM) |

| What is your opinion on in game cinemas, and cutscenes? Most games these days do in fact have them, because it's a fact that developers want there game to look good. But does it ruin the moment? Does it take away, a cool feeling? I think they're fine in some aspects, but when a game is so awesome and can pull off and intriging storyline, while not having "any" cinema's, that's purely awesome. Take Half-Life, and Half-Life 2 for example. Unless you're goofy, and count the intro with the G-Man being a "cinema" there are no in game-cinematics during gameplay. Everything happens real time, with you being there, able to pay attention to what's going on, or just run around and smack things with the crowbar. I think a game being able to pull that off brings a new level of realism into play. It gives you more of the feeling that "you" are Gorden Freeman. These people are talking to "you", and "you're" fighting and running for your life. Enough with the chatter, hopefully that all made some sense ... so vote? ![]() (edited by Xeogred on 11-18-04 09:45 PM) |

| Yeah, and most times in FPS's they can almost be predictable. Hmm, it's getting intense now ... someone keeps on talking to me through an intercom, oh now I'm in this hugely detailed room ... time for a cutscene. But I do have to say I enjoy them in RPG's. The only thing that usually deludes me from caring about the cinemas in some RPG's, is the acting. Star Ocean 3 for example, horrible dubbing. But games like Xenosaga have top notch voice acting, and to me, that game sometimes felt like I was watching an anime. I'd say they aren't a bad addition to a game, but if they can get overused and repetitive sometimes. Especially in action games, I just want to run, and not encounter a cutscene every 5 minutes or so. |

| I don't have anything specific ... I just kind of randomly like stuff. To name a few: Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Symphony X, Edguy, Faith no More, Quiet Riot, Gun's n' Roses, Pink Floyd, ACDC, Iron Maiden, Metallica (Black Album and before), and some other stuff that I can't think of ... Favorite Genre: Speed Metal, Symphonic Metal, Thrash. I also enjoy heavy Trance. And, being a videogame guru, I enjoy mainly any videogame score from Megaman 2, to Chrono Cross. Things I love to hate, with no offense intended. - Punk Rock - nu Metal - Grudge - Rap Hip / Hop, but I can stand "old skool" Beastie Boys, Run DMC, etc... - Country, good lord. =) (edited by Xeogred on 11-20-04 02:13 AM) |
