What are the best anime / manga deals you've ever seen out there?

Recently, I purchased the entire DVD Box Set of Rahxephon, brand new, for $57.99

When I've seen the Box Sets of Trigun, and say Eva in the past exceeding $100 easily, and when I noticed Samurai X was directly under Rahxephon for $55.99, I realized I was getting perhaps one of the best deals ever.

But, it's a little sad. Obviously seeing Rahxephon at such a low price just really shows how successful it was -- not very, and it being one of my favorite animes, kind of disappoints me.

But oh well, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I'm just curious what kind of style you guys like 'most'.

Active (Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Chrono Trigger)
Active is usually somewhat turn based, but characters usually stay in one spot on screen, and there isn't a hole lot of strategy outside of attacking.

Semi-Real (Tales games, Vagrant Story, Grandia)
I decided to include this kind of style, because there are quite a bit of games like this. Fighting could be somewhat turn based, and or real time, but you'd usually enter some kind of "zone" or area that limits your characters attack to some sense.

Real-Time (Secret of Mana, Y's, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma)
Solid Real Time is where you have the ability to completely control your character at all time, you run up to the enemy and attack them, while they're free to move and attack you at any time also.

Turn Based (Final Fantasy Tactics, Phantom Brave, Arc the Lad)
Turn Based is very stretched out, usually requires a bigger amount of 'thought' and strategy. Turn Based RPG's usually use a traditional 'board' of some kind for fighting.

If there's some kind of other style out there, that you like the most, please explain.

Myself, I'm going to have to say I enjoy them all really, but when it comes to battling, Secret of Mana (and SD3), Evermore, etc, all come to mind and are a lot more memorable than other kinds of RPG's. They can get pretty intense if you're not constantly doing things, healing, casting Status magic on your characters, and what not, and it's overall just really fun.

Semi-Real is also very fun. These kinds of games seem to be more in-depth with character building (Vagrant Story ... heh), and the battling is very fun.

I'll always be a big fan of ATB styled RPG's, but honestly, they're almost always fairly simple and easy games.

Turn Based isn't too bad, but it's not something I'd always want to play. Those kind of games require a lot of time on your hands, and I don't exactly always have that (I loved how FFTA allowed you to save at any time).

So, what you say?

Yeah, even though Link to the Past is easily my favorite videogame of all time next to Super Metroid, I doupt it would be that active at all.

So, 'no'.

It doesn't hurt to ask, but yeah, it wouldn't be worth it if you ask me.

You kind of mislead me here, at first I thought you meant the original SNES Starfox ...

Sell it I guess, I've heard the game is only somewhat 'decent', but I've heard a lot of good things about the Paper Mario games, so it's probably worth it.

Don't fret over the loss though, any trade in these days is a huge loss when it comes to money (unless you're selling really old / rare stuff or something) so it always happens.

Have you successfully beat it?

I mean, I've beaten Gradius on Hard, so I'm quite good at these games ... but, phew, TFIV is pretty intense.

Wikipedia actually has some good info on the Gradius series, and corrections on the names (I got bored today in Accounting and looked it up).

After reading that the PS2 version of Gradius III is a more true port of the real Gradius III (a' la arcade version), I'd really like to get that III-IV PS2 package.

Mine, in other words "None".

Sometimes once in and awhile I'll go back to the Zelda rankset though, since it's pretty nice.

Same here.

MvC2 is more fast paced, more furiously-insane with combos, and whatnot.

I do miss some of the SNK characters, but I just like it more.

My favorite characters on MvC2:
Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li, Iron Man, War Machine, Strider, Hayato, Gambit, Wolverine, Cable, and a few others I can't think of now.

Great game, I put aside quite a bit of money for it ... but, it was worth it in my opinion.

I was unsure, and too lazy to check over the spelling.

True story.

Zeal, no questions.

A Hybird setting is always impressive, and Zeal was just awesome. The theme was also just really good.

The kill switch, has been activated.

If Anophis suggests such a thing, then he is 'basically' correct.

Anyone have any?

When I'm not listening to Power Metal, I'm usually listening to some good ol' rock n' roll.

Some bands I really enjoy from this era:
Def Leppard
Scorpions
Tesla
Queensryche
Faith No More
Quiet Riot!!

And there's plenty of others, and there are big jumps in there with styles, but I'm sure you guys get the point. What bands would you guys suggest I / others should check out?
