... Dude, Captain Planet is the spawn of Satan.

Even as a child, I absolutely hated that show. Especially at the end when it was "Time to save the planet everyone! Be sure to always pick up your trash, and only you can prevent forest fires!" ...

Taken from Amazon, Dune:

This Hugo and Nebula Award winner tells the sweeping tale of a desert planet called Arrakis, the focus of an intricate power struggle in a byzantine interstellar empire. Arrakis is the sole source of Melange, the "spice of spices." Melange is necessary for interstellar travel and grants psychic powers and longevity, so whoever controls it wields great influence.

The troubles begin when stewardship of Arrakis is transferred by the Emperor from the Harkonnen Noble House to House Atreides. The Harkonnens don't want to give up their privilege, though, and through sabotage and treachery they cast young Duke Paul Atreides out into the planet's harsh environment to die. There he falls in with the Fremen, a tribe of desert dwellers who become the basis of the army with which he will reclaim what's rightfully his. Paul Atreides, though, is far more than just a usurped duke. He might be the end product of a very long-term genetic experiment designed to breed a super human; he might be a messiah. His struggle is at the center of a nexus of powerful people and events, and the repercussions will be felt throughout the Imperium.

Dune is one of the most famous science fiction novels ever written, and deservedly so. The setting is elaborate and ornate, the plot labyrinthine, the adventures exciting. Five sequels follow. --Brooks Peck--This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

From Library Journal
Dune is to science fiction what The Lord of the Rings is to fantasy. Though fans believed they had bid a sad farewell to the sand planet of Arrakis upon Herbert's death in 1986, his son Brian has assumed writing the Nebula and Hugo award-winning series with the help of Kevin J. Anderson. But the original is always the most popular, and Ace here offers a good-quality hardcover complete with maps, a glossary, and appendixes. The book's huge fan base should expand even more thanks to a six-hour miniseries premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel later this year that is said to be more faithful to the book than David Lynch's truly awful 1984 feature film.

Letterman is my least favorite, and the way you worded that Fett didn't make much sense ...

Yoro: Yeah, honestly most of the stuff at YTMND is pretty lame. There were a few other good Conan ones, like him doing the Kame-Ha-Me-Ha (however it's spelled).

The Vader ones get old once you see 2 of them.

NOOOOllercoaster was funny though.

What makes me tick?

Trying to capture the 4th 'Po' in Zelda OoT.

On a serious note, it is true that Fear can control us.

I'm the same way.

Sometimes I don't even make Oreo shakes because I "don't feel like it".

... hopefully when I move out, I can live together with a female roomate, hoping that she's a good cook.

Or I can dream.

I still have it on my server when I hosted it for Omega.

So if you can't get it to work, here.

As I've said before, I am willing to host Zelda hacks ...

My server hasn't gone down for months.

Better yet, Seiken Densetsu 3.

I'm still undecided whether or not to believe this, I'd like more sources. But, it won't surprise me if the majority of the games will be downloadable for free. I'm sure that would be an extremely smart move on Nintendo's part and would probably boost Revolution sales just for this.

For the last couple of weeks I've been listening to Dragonforce quite a bit, a few songs here and there from their Sonic Firestorm album (my favorite tracks would be 1, 6, and 7).

And I just thought I'd ask, is their first album just as good? Or better? Or worse?

Looking at Metal Storm it's gotten a higher rating, a 8.8, but Sonic Firestorm has a 8.6 ... so nothing too major.

Still though, I'm really getting into this band, and maybe there's some fans here?

Dragonforce - Prepare for War. Track 7 on Sonic Firestorm, if anyones interested in checking them out. Just a heads up, they are Pure Power Metal.

Edit: Dragonforce - Soldiers of the Wasteland. Just my favorite song on this album. Man, it's nice.

Same here, on top of that it's the "family computer". And I have to put up with the "Multiple User Accounts" shit which is just pointless.

Seriously, we can't have "Folders" for our own stuff?

But honestly, I'd rather have a desktop if I had the money. Maybe with a smaller LCD screen that I can take around the place ...

- Probably going to a lake for July 4th.
- Might go to Chicago, since we usuall do yearly to visit family. Man I love that city, it's a nice place but I'd absolutely hate living there (traffic).

Other than that, I'll probably be working almost all summer. I just recently got a job at Jiffy Lube, with great pay and I'll get a raise after 3 months.

I also plan on possibly learning some php so I can actually develop a site, of course though ... that's what I said last summer.
(then again our computer was fried all last summer, so I didn't have one).

Sightly better?

Well heck, it doesn't matter how much better it is if their second album is still this damn awesome.

I just hope it isn't as fast paced as some of the tracks on Sonic Firestorm. Track 2 for example, is probably my least favorite song on this album. It's nothing but speed, soloing, and tons of speed. I like it when they mix it up a bit, and have more "style" to the song, like tracks 1, 6, and 7, at least in my opinion.

But yeah, this bands pretty new, and I'll definitely be keeping my eye on them.

I still really need to check out Sonata Arctica though, I've only heard good things about them too.

Programming is a task split into several parts. You don't exactly have to understand how or why at first, but eventually you'll end up learning these things. The most important thing is to get a working setup and start experimenting and learning.

Nicely said. The best way to learn programming is to experiment, and make simple things at first. At first you might not even know what you're doing, but eventually you'll see patterns, and see things that you can define and find.

Personally, I've taken both a VB course and a C++ course at my school, and I have to say I enjoyed C++ more in every way. It was more hands on solid-programming with Visual C++, while with Visual VB it was more like making what your program will look like, then editing things here and there, not really starting from scratch or anything.

So, I think I learned a lot more about programming in my C++ class over my VB class, but you may differ.

You may want to attempt C though, because I do have to agree with ADnova. C++ is basically an shortcut version of C. So if you're really interested in learning programming, you might want to learn C to know and learn more, and from there you could probably easily adapt to other languages, again like others said.

Sorry for repeating what most already said ... just my hands on experience. I doupt VB would ever become very useful for you, and C or C++ seems like a better language to start off with where you could easily leave from there and then adapt to other languages.

Just be sure to find a good compiler, but know your code created in that compiler may not compile nicely in other compilers (issue I had with Visual C++).

Are you making the assumption that I have Win98?

I have XP, and it's still pointless. It slows down the computer incredibly; then you have 4 User Accounts, when only 2 of them are used reguarly, isn't that pointless?

Yeah, they stated it themselves at the Press Conference that it's just a tech demo, nothing else.

It was funny when someone yelled out "Yeah right" and then the Sony President "grinned".

But it doesn't bother me, of all the Final Fantasy's to do a tech demo with they pick FFVII?

New Article.

There's some disappointing news for those expecting these classics to be available for free. Nintendo is planning on pay downloads as being the standard for this download system. There will be many types of services, though, including limited time free downloads. One possibility mentioned by Iwata is free downloads as bonuses for buying new games.

Not much more on the controller ...

I just really hope it's -not- a touch screen, entirely.

We now have Comcast Digital Cable, and it's okay.

I liked Dish more, since it had a much better "Guide" in my opinion.

It doesn't matter though, I rest in the basement where I only get regular cable, so I'm not noticing the difference. I do get HBO down there though, but it gets old seeing "Men in Black" on everyday of the week.

Plus, the only "bonus" channel I ever cared about with Dish and this new Comcast Digital Cable thing that we have now, would be G4. But I hardly watch G4 anymore these days, doesn't matter, because I'm not missing anything.

(In other words, G4 is shit)
