On a scale of 1 to 10, the word "horrible" is a 3 in describing Zophar's level of organization.
More like a 1... Finding anything there is a pain in the ass, not to mention on several ocassions it doesn't even display the page...

"ROM Hacking Utilities" is names "Facelifters" or whatever it is, which makes it harder (generally you'll think of a graphical facelift, so it's even more unlikely), plus there's no damned site map and "Search" works crappily (try putting in "NSF", heh)

Overall they could really use a better way of keeping the site up-to-date and organized, but so far it seems kinda lame.

And don't bother with adding new music yet, you'd probably need to learn NES ASM to even have a chance (as is generally the case; you might get lucky) and if it's not NSF format, don't even bother. Even then, you'll have to do a lot of fixing (Acmlm recoded SMB2's music engine for his hack, jeez)

All in all: It's probably not feasible nor easy to do so, and even then it's not really a well-touched upon area...

It's called "keyword stuffing", and search engines tend to catch on quickly...

Though something bigger like "Google bombing" is getting worse (try a google serach for both of these)... it's why searches like "Miserable fKitten Yiffer" give GWB's homepage.

Yeah, what she said.

I'm sure they probably just did a ORDER BY `id` and used the next one, without even seeing that there were other threads around.

Meh.

I still go there every now and then (almost as much as my own board) but don't post there much, since no one else does (though my "stop being dead" topics tend to attact activity, heh)

Not everyone uses the same scheme, so it shows up fine {though painful; dark blue on dark brown, ugh}

It's the law of Thesepaperswillnevergoaway; you can sort through them all you want but they keep appearing.

(incidentally I think you're right... after all, a 12 inch stack of 100 empty folders will be 22 inches with 200, probably, so... yeah)

Big suprise there, just look at people like Acmlm (and me!)

Granted, I've been trying to keep it out, but... oh well.

Does this include the SF?

I've actually been poking through my newest EGM (newest? yeah, right, they still have the two-month-old preview of Halo 2 in there, damn you Rite-aid) and "The Guy Game" got a lovely "Shame of the Month" sticker.

Games like GTA: San Andreas don't appeal to me (and never will, I'm just not into that kind of thing) yet Doom II had me hooked for a while, and now UT has my attention.

You can't forget that everything's being used up now, they're running a bit short on ideas (cough nintendo cough-- port hell ) and a few of my favorite games (Silent Hill 1, a few others) have deviated from what the original really grabbed on to and just pretty much ruined the series for me (Silent Hill 2 lacked the "holy fucking shit what was that" factor, SH3 (though I haven't played it and only read FAQ's and plot guides) seems to lack the deep understory and mystery (not to mention outdoor areas ) and Silent Hill 4 was a complete joke (afaik it didn't even go near Silent Hill, heh)

(omg, I just realized something)

Another good example is Tetris... look at all the damn rule changes! the original had one line = one line... with Tetris Worlds, it's now a tetris is 16 points or something, and you need 5, 10, 15, 20... points to go up a level, not 10 lines.

Tetris Plus was worse; you could level up by sitting there. It was really something like a Level Up bar that would go up (slowly) on its own, with different lines making it go up (single would be about 1/10th, tetris would do 99/100 )

I could go on but why?

Dcahrakos: Yep, it will.

Another good question: what makes a hack "complete" enough to be added to the list? After all, if you stopped a hack entirely for any reason (but it was, say, 50% done), then wouldn't it be considered finished by the creator?

And not only that, but all of the first 5 catagory links go to www.tekhacks.net, which isn't even up (404)... which leads me to believe that you didn't really poke here for anything, else at least onefromanother board would've shown up

That's more than 150.

A few are duplicate entries (lots of people have two screennames) or have blocked me (or vice versa), and I could easily cut it down to mabye 50 people, heh.

That's what relative searching does.

But, yes, it's likely compressed or uses two bytes.

The IE only text I'm not fond of (it's near-impossible to read)

The "w" logo doesn't fit in at all (ick, it's light blue on dark blue -- as in the entire square) and.. yeah.

I liked the Tandy 400 better. It survived an explosion and eventually just got thrown away

I wonder when he's finally going to get a Pentium 1 XD

Generally most routers allow you to find out how many IPs are assigned from it (thereby telling you roughly how many computers are using it).

At least ours does... this is the only computer using a wireless connection, though

If you notice, they're 21, 20, 19, and 18, heh.

Happy birthday to Colleen. It'd be amusing if Jesp made a special ACS for today,

Weasel is on a mission to somewhere, I forgot where, but I hope he's having a good time and is safe; he's been gone for about 100+ days since I last checked (out of two years)

Paradox I don't know much about; either he's never around or I never noticed him.

meggypie is a banned moron, so... no worries there

AOL Canada wasn't named COL.

And he's stopped with the server entirely, look back a few threads... he's gotten actual hosting, and is restoring such things.

I think.
