I'd like to think of this as a congradulatory thread to Clockworkz's site (Congrats on 1,000 htis, may you get 2,500)

...and to mine (yay .. uh ... 800? or almost 2,500 for the non-unique ) but this also serves anohter purpose instad of just yay hits:

I'm actually wondering how the newer design looks, because if it's good enough I have a new post layout at my fingertips, and I'm quite fond of how it looks (and so is windwaker, Cheveyo, Devin, Imajin... etc)

So if there's anything you don't like / think could be improved, feel free to comment on the news item or post here

Oh, yeah... The hack archive table design is under reconstruction (a lot of stuff has been combinded and it works better, takes less space for lower resolutions) and note the "Broken in all browsers" button

Lest we forget the best of all... whoever can point out where the BG came from gets a cookie ^^

----------------
Clarificationary edit: The reason this isn't in M. Art is because I hate that forum (web pages don't nessacarily count as 'art' to me) and I find the LT crew to genearally be not be assholes about everything. Get your ass back here, Cheveyo/Imajin/Etc

Besides, I'd like to end today (for me) with a new, non-clsoed thread :p

EDIT: ARRGH... Evididently more views came from MSNBots than I thought (googlebots are okay, I don't mind them) but in any case:

Deleted rows: 198

Someone may have noticed it jumped from 800+ to 624, that's why. Oh well, it's alright to get rid of non-human views

EDIT ARRRGH 2: Evidently, view 500 after that went to a bot () so looking at the next view:

IP 222.145.173.90

So whoever ha(s/d) that IP is a winner

Oh darn, I ranked for the first time this month. Drat.

I've lost my "I'm not ranking on the ACS again" thing.

Arrgh.

He didn't nessacarily block you from the server. You were just clogging up his RO game

It's the same reason he killed the old gunbound script, heh.

And yes, I'd have to agree. Lately it's like a lot of pure crap's been here. Not spam, just pure shit.

A few come to mind but I'm not saying anything. I'd just like to be able to go back to then

I know someone who's a 'hardcore' gamer. 20 24-packs of M. Dew, 2+ Xboxes and PS2's, tons of games for each, and practically locked in his room all day playing FF 11 and/or other games over XBLive or whatever the PS2 uses.

Not only that but he's an adult, too. He's pretty damn insane

The cactus -- bleh thing was from HH, I just recorded it in Winamp using a TTS plugin and posted it after fiddling with the speed/pitch a lot.

I think it's still in my stuff folder, w00.

Too bad you're stopping progress on Jade (as what I got off of IRC before) but I'll look forward to hosting >> trying it out. Hopefully it won't be such a pain in the butt as I find most RPGs =P

I don't have a cell phone, I don't plan on it, and I hate them with a passion.

Unless you're using it to inform (preferably somewhere that's not overly busy) family/friends where you're going/what you're doing/etc or using it in an emergency, don't use it.

I hate all those idiots who sit there and blab on the phone while driving

The only problem I see with your site is it's never updated (one month and counting) ... yes, I know that my site went through the EXACT same thing (didn't update it for a month) but still

My site was at 820, I deleted all of the "msnbot" users, went to 640, and is now back at 800 even... and recently it's been updated almost twice daily, with work being done and new hacks, too

If you were using a real host that allows php and you had a MySQL database I could give you an incomplete copy of LameNews 0.75b (the one I'm running), the only thing missing is an archive

Just give some news on what you're doing, progress... I know the Z3C page has a 'weekly diary' to tell about what he's doing That may be a nice idea.

Might I add (since someone already posted seconds after I did anyway) those idiot companies who think the browser war consists of IE, NETSCAPE, and the godawful shit-in-a-box AOL browser*.

THIS PAGE OPTIMIZED FOR BULLSHIT OLDBROWSER V0.1.

--------------------------

Yeah... especially like certain pages at my school which pop up a dialog "YOU AR NOT USING A BROWZR VALEDATED FOR USE WITH THIS PAGE OMGOMOGMG! PLESE GO HERE -->" every page , especailly when (most) things work absolutely perfect and the only things that don't are overly bloated Javashit pieces of crap.

*Shitty, based off of IE, too

I thought the same, then one day I tried Firebird 0.7, I decided to stick and test since I quickly noticed that it was faster. And after that I only used IE for thoose pages that only works in IE. And the only site I visit which is like that is... Windows update.

I know none who have tried Firefox and still prefer IE, the few who had problems with the older firefox versions have less problems with the newer versions.
What about people who tried Firefox and remained with another browser?

Actually, waaaaaaaaaaaaay back then I tried Firebird and hated its guts (namely because it couldn't survive a registry crash, which was more common than a penny at the time)... before the crash it was alright (about equal to IE), but after it just continued to steal my file extension associations and of course the uninstaller was broken .... after that I remained with the falling-apart-at-the-seams IE and finally got Opera.

Recently (read: 2 months ago) tried Firefox, still prefer Opera. IE, though... ick.

Posted on 09-21-04 02:28 AM, in Finding level-data in SNESroms Link
One way I could've found Crystal Mine's data would be to open up FWNES's memory viewer and note the patters in there, which made it easy because once you find the top-left corner tile, it goes on for 330 bytes in RAM in perfect order, making finding the levels easy...

Of course how Acmlm did it back a year ago or so he just opened it in a hex editor and found some interesting patterns and corrupted around there, took a screenshot... there were a few lines of data garbled in the first level, so he found it

Of course the people who wrote a small amount of the data covered in my (unreleased yet uploaded) document on the subject goofed up pretty badly, considering that the poor thing's labled as $8000-8300 in ROM (it's actually much different)...

Oh, yeah, back on topic, pretty much all of the ways you can find it:

* Corrupting randomly, narrowing it down (I've done this with Bucky O'Hare and found some level data)
* External viewers, like the ones Peer posted
* Looking for patterns in a hex editor (Acmlm did it with CM)
* Checking memory viewer for changes if you can modify the level, then searching for that in the ROM
* Tracing where ASM reads the data from
* More...

-------------------

You've got a lot of options, those above are listed in what I believe to be easiest - hardest

Speaking of my Crystal Mines document...

The DIV isn't high enough in Opera, it seems ...er, tall enough.

I used to have problems with Opera (it'd crash on loading Acmlm's board asap) but that was on the old 300MHZ comp, I haven't had any problems... try reinstalling it
