And once again, Xk showed up. Just as before, he wasted little time going to work sabotaging and destroying the board. And so once again, he was banned for all time.

Over the next few years, this cycle repeated several times. Xk continued to return via various ban-bypassing methods, cause all sorts of damage - in many cases, irreperable destruction - and being banned once more. Eventually, this grew to be such a problem that more severe measures were taken. The board's very code was altered such to prevent him from returning, and the server itself was reconfigured to deny him any manner of access. Xk's continued vandalism and destruction had become such a problem that such extreme measures had to be taken to end the chaos.

Once again, Xk has returned and made himself administrator. Just as in every other case, he proceeded to destroy. Genders have been swapped back and forth so often that the entire point of the 'gender' field is lost. User accounts have been modified in every way imaginable. Posts have been rewritten and for all anyone knows deleted. And to add insult to injury, he has continued to flame and troll constantly.

Let's review. Xk has done this several times, and each time he has been banned. Clearly, the logical choice this time is to... keep him on staff and laugh as he continues wreaking havoc?

The fact that he's remained admin this long is bad enough. Now I learn that he is being given access to the very board code itself. This is akin to electing Hitler head of national security and giving him full control over all national defense systems. To take a quote from his own bio:

Personally, I will be quite surprised if the board even still exists by the end of the week. If nothing else, I can almost guarantee that several unorthodox, malicious changes will be made to the code. (Unless, of course, he decides not to do so simply to spite me, but I highly doubt he'll be able to resist the temptation. )

I can only ask what bonehead made this decision. If it was in fact Acmlm's doing, then this proves that he has indeed stopped caring about the board. I have noticed some active development on his own AB 2.0, and so if this is the case, then it may be simply that he wants the current board to go out with a bang before introducing V2.0. However, this is most likely wishful thinking.
If this was not Acmlm's decision, then I think a serious review of the intentions of the person who did make it is in order. Clearly this person either does not care about the board (and for that matter, probably wishes to destroy it him/herself) or has severe mental issues, or both. Either of these traits are not good to have in an administrator.

And so, if this does go through and Xk is indeed granted access to the code, then I shall deeply mourn its eventual death. I'll stick around to see just what happens (assuming Xk doesn't forgets to edit the code to prevent me from doing so), but barring some miraculous recovery, the 'fun posting experience' shall be forever lost.
