Both dates are the same, which does not conflict with the above logic. So that can't be it. But I don't see anything else.

Maybe you're drunk?
Wow, don't we all feel like idiots. xD

And Hyper: They're not that bad, believe it or not... when I was on the old TC300, it took up no more room than my toolbars and I never noticed it (and some of the ads are pretty fun, like misspelling words on the bible ads... "Wisdom and stregnth from God's Word!")

Manual scanning works pretty fine for me too, it took two tries before I found the level data on a certain game! It's not that hard on certain games. I can see why Crystal was easy to hack, it probably stores data in a quite similar way to the game i'm hacking in a way...

I should release a hack of that game... not telling yet thought.

I heard about using FCEUXD for finding level data, and I should probably use FCEUXD for finding the sprites data. I can edit the level itself in that game, but I hadn't found the data for objects and enemies for example.
I actually released a (bad and incomplete) document on that game. The level format goes something like this, and it's not hard to understand at all:

[xx] - denotes optional

Level header: XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX >L50-{XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX}
{ 330 bytes denoting level layout, always 330 (30 x 11) }

{ 3 x n bytes for hidden tiles } [FE { 3 x n bytes for L50 h. tiles }] FF { unknown monster format } [FE { unknown L50 monster format } ] FF

{next level header...}

There are no pointers, so I assume that it just keeps the last address in memory and starts reading there, or just starts from L1 and goes through (making expansion very easy... sort of)

I'm not that big of a fan of it myself, but this is pure multiplayer madness.

On a side note, I have now posted 18 times today, which amazes me. I don't know how, since:

1. I woke up late
2. I had to do some chores
3. I was busy playing games most of the morning
4. I was at the doc's for 3 hours (because they're slower than shit through an old toilet)
5. I had to put away groceries

But... it's wierd, I never would've guessed xD

That's based on the typewriter functions:

Line feed would obviously bring the text up a line (seen in Unix)
Carrage Return would return the type head to the beginning of the line (Mac)

Obviously, DOS uses both, and if things were based off of what they do in reality, that's what would happen.

If I had my old dot-matrix printer, I would try printing things with just line feeds and carrage returns, not both

Cooperative is hidden, like "Mike" and "Boob"* sharing the same bubble when going up to the top and such.

On second note, MS's animator requires you to paste images in, unless I'm missing something.

But like he said, it would only work while Mario is on the same screen area. If you walked back, they'd return to their original positions.

As far as Ican tell, ti'll work no matter where you put it, so that should work fine.

(I hit the PSwitch at the end of the level, waited, and they still dropped, so...)

read our lips:

either use the solutions posted here, or make one on your own. What you're asking is difficult (or impossible) to do without rewriting some serious guts of the game. No one will do that for you. Either do it yourself, accept on of the solutions here, or shut up.

2001 was a long time ago.

Spoiler:
this post relies heavily on that thing where you read something in a certain context and it snaps to be an argument somehow -- anmely, saying that 2001 was a long time ago says that it may be time for another chance at this forum, though some of you won't get it, hence the spoiler. idiots.
