I have a "Crystal WDM Audio Codec" sitting in my list'o'shit that has no drivers (or bad ones)

It says that MMDEVLDR.VXD and NTKERN.VXD can't load the device driver.

I've tried hundereds of things and searched google many times but can't find what will make this work (I've even replaced MMDEVLDR.VXD and added NTKERN.VXD to /SYSTEM and /SYSTEM/VMM32 (or whatever it is).

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas

The card's not borked (it works in Windows ME, which is installed on D:\... I'm sure you know why I don't use it ) and I'm going to go look at HP's site right now...

Edit: Meet my computer'

After searching the whole site the best they can come up with is a picture of the device manager and how to find the driver you need to reinstall. They have NO LISTING OF WHAT IS IN THE F*CKING COMPUTER OR WHERE TO GET IT.

[stabs HP in the side repeatedly]

Edit 3: After several emails to HP and a few fixes that didn't quite work:

Dear Qwerty,

Thank you for writing back to us.

I gather from your e-mail that you do not have the recovery disks
for performing the system recovery. I also understand that you
would like to know that whether Crystal WDM Audio Codec drivers will
resolve the issue or not.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

I would like to mention that the Crystal WDM Audio Codec drivers
definitely compatible with your computer and you can install them to
resolve the issue.

I am also providing you with the sound drivers to resolve the issue.

Please visit the following web site for downloading the drivers: [web site here]

I really fucking hope these work.

Just be glad you don't live here -- our cable lines are extremely old and shoddy, and if it gets too warm (or they begin hating us) blink goes the RECIEVE light and I'm out of internet for a while.

It's directly related to the heat outside, too, and I'm worried... early fall last year it would go out between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM (and not come back on) and that's when I'm on the computer (not to mention early fall is a lot cooler than mid summer )

Here's a few fun things to do with everyone's favorite quick image editor:

Duplicate - Tired of having to copy and paste paste paste to get a few copies of the same thing? Select something and hold CTRL and move it! A new copy of that has been created just for you! (NOTE - this is in the help file, but no one ever reads those things)

Trails - Make trails of an object by selecting something and holding SHIFT. This tends to fuck undo-releated things, so don't cancel out of it with a right click or undo it-- it tends to undo more than one thing at a time.

Error Brush - This one's just stupid yet kind of amusing. On the select-brush area (click the paintbrush) click right of the smallest top brush -- the selection will disappear if you've done it right. Clicking anywhere in the canvas will cause an "Out of Memory" error!

Invisible Ink - More stupid than fun, but try clicking to the right of the smallest square brush -- it'll draw absoloutely nothing... or so you think! Zooming in or out or doing anything else will make everything you've drawn with this reappear!

Hidden 10x Zoom Level - We all complain about small zoom levels in this program, so here's a way to help that problem! Zoom in anywhere and click 8x Zoom (though you don't have to, it just helps a lot)... try clicking in the one-pixel-tall bar between the 8x area and the bottom of the box! If you make it, you'll get an extra boost up to 10x. Be careful, as on slower, older computers minor display problems (random bars that disappear, et) happen sometimes.

That was just a few interesting tidbits I learned about Paint, some of which are a lot older than others and the 10x one I learned last night

Everyone would kill them. There are much more useful uses.

Think. Several clones of self. Unreal Tournament lan party with self. Fun.

Or just be able to get shit done x times as fast, which would be pretty kickass too... like having multiple jobs and raking in tons of cash and spending it on going to visit places

That's funny, MID->WAV using the DiskOut plugin never worked

It just wrote blank files...

Incidentally, when I dream, I'm never myself. The "real" me is always an NPC (on my most memorial dream at the moment, his only purpose was to be captured after leaving my room ) and I'm always someone else, but always the same person

And no, I don't dream about Melv's collection. Why bother dreaming? It's less than 5 feet away

Also, GOOD GRAVY! It's her.

Also, my most recent dream was a lot wierder than normal... as in me biking uphill at about 100 MPH and a single drop of water following me at the same speed .

Someone's slipping something into my drinks, I just know it!

What I was thinking of doing would be speeding the counter up to double its speed and raising the time limits accordingly, as it'd really make things fast-paced in terms of how long you have left (that, and I don't really like how slow it goes)

Now if there was a way to add a 4th digit to the timer in both display and function, that'd be kickass

Calvin tried to accomplish that with his box Duplicator. It didn't take well.
That reminds me, I need to get my copy of "Something Under the Bed Is Drooling" from my dad's house. It had the Transmorgrifier(SP) in it...

Even better idea, but the problem is you'd have to pay for two people to live with just one income

Hi,

Thank you for writing back to us.

I gather from your e-mail that after downloading the audio drivers
you receive multiple errors.

I have checked the specification of your computer and I apologize
for providing you the incorrect drivers.

I have checked again and found the exact sound drivers.

I suggest that before downloading the drivers, please uninstall the
sound old drivers and then install new drivers.

Please visit the following web site for downloading the drivers.
