There are several sites, FAQs, documents, lists and whatnots listing the origin of the various names used in the FF games. |
For the first few games, the creators were pretty much just looking through their D&D books for stuff they could use, the religious and mythologic stuff didn't come until later.

For shitty hacks, you can't go wrong with the classic Wario's World, and it's glitched randomness spread around the levels without any kind of design planned at all. |
