The entire Gradius/Nemesis/Salamander/Life Force/Vulcan Venture/whatever series is a horribly confusing mess of games with different names in different regions, sligthly changed variations, ports with different names, and so on.

The Gradius Base has a fairly comprehensive list of the series, which is useful if you don't want to download 20 copies of the same game while looking for something you haven't played.

The age limit for purchasing anything stronger than beer is 21 here in Norway. Is it really lower in Canada? The age limit for beer is 18 in both places.

Oh, yeah. Happy birthday!

Actually, the Wars series has been around for ages. Dual Strike is the 8th game in the series or something.

Cards you scan to enable a new feature in the game. Scan it again to turn the feature off.

There have been 2 e-switches released in the US, one which turns enemies into coins if they are shot with fireballs, and one which spreads vegetables (the SMB2 ones) around the levels.

There are some more in Japan, but I can't remember what they do. Anyone?

Bah, there's way too many great flavors simply thrown under "other". And I refuse to vote in an ice cream flavor poll where pistachio is not an option.

Yeah, but Pokemon Puzzle League is virtually unknown here (I have it. It kicks ass. Except 3D mode, 3D mode is evil and confusing and not fun).

I guess Nintendo found it safer to surf on the ever-popular Tetris brand instead of rereleasing a puzzle game no one have heard of, even though the license might be popular (though arguably less popular than Tetris when it comes to puzzle fans. And will the Joe Pokefan Average really purchase a pokemon game that says "puzzle" on it?).

Nah, I think they know what they're doing.

Haven't played MP6, but the quality of the 5 earlier games have been steadily dropping witrh each new release.

The original had so many fun additions not included in the latter games. The plus and minus dice, for instance. Or the original Grab bag game. Or hell, what about the PLAYABLE single player mode? Sure, MP2 had one as well, but it was a pain to unlock.

But yeah, MP1 for the win. It didn't have that hateable Magic Lamp item either.

Eggerland/Lolo music, yay.
And one of the most memorable ideo game songs ever, the Dragon Quest title track. Loveable.

And of course, Mega Man 2, but that has already been mentioned.

The hell it isn't. Dawn of Souls is the most disappointing butchfest I've ever had the misfortune of playing. It's like Squeenix decided to remove every single bloody element of fun from the original, and replace it with a "hold A to beat game" system. It's awful. Go with the original or the PSX remake.

Oh, and this should really go in the RPG forum.

If Dia or Rub is in there, use them, but I'd think Cure wouldn't work so well unless you have the fourth one.
.

All the spells are in the original, though some of them (like Steel/TMPR) are bugged. Haste/FAST, however, has always been one of the best spells in the game.

As for the Vampire, he's horribly weak, and you don't need any specific strategy to beat him. He has about 120 HP or something. Fire 3 kills him in one hit.

In that case, the Lolo track I meant is the.. um.. stage track. That addictive piece of music that plays at every stage. You know, THE Lolo tune.

As for Mega Man 2, all the music is great, but if you need any specific ones, go with Wily Castle 1, Bubble Man, Metal Man and Wood Man.

(Also, Castlevania 3's original name is Akumajou Densetsu, not Akumajou Dracula.)

Seems fun, yes, but I'm not buying a PSP for one remake, and besides, I'm positive a game like this won't get released outside Japan. Sony doesn't like stuff like this, and they didn't release the Rockman remakes for the PSX either.

Nah, FF1 never required any levelling to get through. Just kill all the non-scary stuff (Stuff that can poison, stuff that can stone, stuff with instant-kill attacks you can't block, large groups of things that can stun, large groups of multitargetting spellcasters and things that hit hard, ect.) you run into, and you'll be fine. FF1 is more about killing what you can handle than levelling like crazy and killing everything.
