Originally posted by Colleen The original Dragon Quest and it's single character who couldn't do anything useful other than attacking and healing required you to be at level 20 to beat the final boss, even though you could easily reach him at level 13 or so. But I do tend to avoid levelling unless it's absolutely nessecary. What's fun about spending 2 hours fighting the same monsters over and over, and then waltzing through the rest of the game by holding a button? |

| I'll just close this due to the fact that making a list like that is pretty much impossible, and this thread will just get filled with posts stating that over and over. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Donkey Kong '94 for the good old Gameboy, I believe. |
Basically, 8-year-old foolish me told the clerk I wanted a game, and he said DK'94 was good. So I bought it. When checking out the manual in the car on the way home, I was shocked to discover that Mario was the main character. Yeah, i know he was on the box, but I didn't see him. A year or so later, I recieved another shock when I bought Donkey Kong Land and discovered that the evil DK was the hero this time. I guess Mega Man V falls under this category as well, as I hadn't heard of the game, but I had played MM4 for about 10 minutes, and read "guides" on MM2 and MM3 in a book I had found at the library, so I knida knew what Mega Man was all about. Besides, I was trading in a game I bought the day before because it sucked (Tintin in Tibet, which indeed WAS a horrible game), and didn't have that many games to choose between. The FCEU states have the extention .fcX, are you sure you're dealing with these files and not the .sav files? |
FCEU won't save states to a non-existing directory. Check your overrides on the directory window under Options.

Ah, yes, the EA curse. |
"This game is shit, but since we spent most of our budget on a hip license, it'll still sell better than most games." and "Let's change the names of the players in our last -insert sport here- game and call it a new game." EA is almost solely responsible for the crappy game scene today. But still, their games get awesome reviews at GameFAQs. How can a game like "The Two Towers" be called "Simply Amazing", "One Game To Rule Them All", "A breathtaking example of what a game should be..." and "Pure Gold"? It's a short, boring and terribly unoriginal hack-and-slash game we've seen a million times before. (Yeah, I rented it once. Beat it the same day, and had no desire to replay any part of it) Do licenses really blind people so much that they think of these games as masterpieces? Also, I have to mention Hydlide. You run into monsters to hurt them. Then you wait for the automatic healing to kick in. Repeat until game is beaten. Oh, and you must run into monsters from behind, but you can't tell which way they face.

The state file is actually in the folder? FCEU loads states from the same folder it saves them to, so if the files are there, I have no idea what's wrong. |
If they're not there, you've told the emulator to create the state file in a non-existing folder, which it can't do. The base folder is Just make sure you have a folder called fcs in the folder your emulator is in, then go to config -> directories and clear all the fields. That should do the job.

Flood. Hell yeah. |
After surviving a million lethal traps and next-to-impossible manuevers, our hero finally manages to get out of that hellish cave he spent the entire game in. Fresh air. Finally! ...then he's run over by a car. The end. (restricted) | (restricted) | | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
