| Got it for christmas last year, and I've beaten it completely. All characters, all weapons, all modes, everything. Very good game, best fighter I've played yet. I mainly use Taki. She takes some time getting used to, but once you do, you can roll and jump all over the place, take your opponent by surprise, and use a bunch of really awesome combos. The only other people I really play the game with are my brother, who uses Cassandra, and a friend of mine, who use Cervantes. |

| It's overrated in my opinion. Look, it's way too linear, and there's absolutely no way at all to customize your party, which makes for a pretty dull experience. It's not very challenging either. Oh, and the "brilliant" bad guy is Darth Vader with a different name. So much for originality. |

The fact that you can't choose your own party means you have to defeat the bosses with whatever party the game decides, which in turn means that boss can't be designed in a way you have to prepare for. They're always easily beatable with the party you have, since that's the one you're stuck with, and in turn, the boss can't reqire some complex strategy you have to prepare for in advance. You know, trying out different parties/abilities/ect. Take Hyne in FF3, for instance. The strategy there was to have a scholar determine his weakpoint, and then use a black mage (or magic items) to exploit this. If that was FF4, you would've been forced to have a Black Mage and a Sholar in your party at the time, which would make it much easier to come up with that strategy. There's the lack of challenge I was talking about. If there IS a strategy to a boss, it has something to do with the guys the game force you to use. Wouldn't Barbaricca be a lot more challenging to people playing the game for the first time if having Cain in your team was optional, and the game didn't tell you to use his jump attack? |
