This was just a demo map and won't be what it's like in the final version. In the final version, there are three different mushroom houses and will be placed across the map (not at the start as shown here). Each Mushroom House will contain 6 different items you can buy. The orange house here just contains a few items for the demo, but the items in the Orange house (there's also a green and red house) are different in the final/current version.

And yes, I used a LOT of ASM hacking to pull off all the neat tricks in the demo. It may not seem like it, but ASM wise, this hack has gone surpassed Mario Adventure in everyway imaginable.

Finally, Kitten Yiffer: I think I kept the some of your favorite levels, but I'm not entirely sure.

And for those playing/played the demo:

How does it fair to Mario Adventure as far as challenge and "fun" goes? Is it more fun? Is the challenge much more balanced? With this hack, my goal is to out do only myself. Mario Adventure was great, but only because of the extensiveness of the hack. SMB3DX aims to be more extensive, but at the same time, actually be FUN to play. I try to include as many things to do so you'll never get bored playing. If you noticed, each level in the demo has something different introduced. Be it a new enemy, a new way to complete the stage, or the requirement of some power-up to pass. My goal is to just change things on you constantly, so the levels never get boring and you're always having to do something different.

Maybe someone else who has giant spinies in their hack can do that, or scrolling clouds in their airship level.

Fx3: I know about this glitch. The readme says so. Of course I will check that out, I won't just leave it there, but I specifically wrote that I knew about the glitch

Thanks for the detail commenting, Frank! I'm glad to see you're enjoying some of my ideas.

As for the Green ! Blocks in the Ninji levels: an enemy on the screen will make the ! blocks solid. No enemies will make them hollow. To get into the horizontal pipe, you need to be Mouser Luigi and hold a Bob-omb to make the ! block solid.

Ok. I've read up slightly on the issue of stretch marks. Back when I was 14, I used to ride my bike constantly, for upwards of 8 hours a day and I started to develop stretch marks. Well they "seemed" to go away when I started to rapidly gain weight...

Well, I've read that stretch marks only show up due to rapid stretching of the skin, via weight gain, preganancy, weight training, what have you and that weight loss just loosens the skin so that stretch marks become more appareant.

Anyways, I'm starting to show stretch marks on my love handles and especially around my belly area. I haven't been eating more than normal, if anything I'm eating less. I've really kicked my DDR habit into high gear. I haven't really noticed a dip in my waist line nor does the scales say I weigh less, so I'm wary on whether I should take this as a sign of weight loss.

I'm just wondering if anyone else here has lost weight and had appareance of stretch marks from doing so. Experience is greater than anything I could read on a medical website, really.

FCEUXD is the most hacker friendly windows NES emulator out there. FCEUxd has palette and pattern table viewing, but it won't let you edit the graphics in real time.

YY-Chr is my tile editor of choice. You have to manually set the palette yourself, but it has options to rearrange the pattern tables so that finding things can be much, MUCH easier than simply piecing together tiles by hand.

Forum(s) to Moderate and why : Emulation and ROM-Hacking

I am currently a local moderator for ROM Hacking and Emulation. I am both a respected member here and through out the entire ROM Hacking community. When I make a decision that results in moderating either of said forums, it always goes unquestioned because fellow rom hackers respect my position and know that I retain good judgement. I know when a thread is headed for disaster and try to act quickly. My area of expertise also ensures that I have good judgement in what threads should be stickied and what threads should be closed due to excessive repeat of the same thread topic.

Also, I've actually directed quite a new members to this board. Whether traffic here is a priority or not, when new members come here for the ROM Hacking board and see that I'm a moderator of the forum they are interested it, they are more comfortable to know that I invited them personally, rather than feel like a complete stranger who knows no one.

There's also a few times when there's discrepencies as to what's Emulation and what's ROM-Hacking, since these two subjects are closely related, but I felt like I've done a good job of sorting out topics that should be in the opposite threads thus far and believe I can continue to do a good job at that.

I have had no complaints and several compliments from fellow members of how I've handled being a moderator of my current assigned forums. Having me to continue to be a moderator of these forums insures that you have someone who has experience, already gained respect, and someone who frequents the forums enough to handle any moderation needed in a timely matter (with the help of another moderator, of course ).

Look in the mirror REALLY close. Look at your nose. See those little black and off-white dots? Those are clogged pores. Cloged pores turn into zits. What I do is I often take my finger nails and squeeze around the most clogged of my poors and squeeze the dirt/oil out of them before they even get a chance to turn into zits. It sounds gross, but it prevents an embarrassing white pimple before a date. Also, when taking a shower, use VERY hot water on your face. As hot as you can stand. Lather up some soap and SCRUB really, REALLY hard and rinse. It's harsh on your skin, sure, but it prevents zits, trust me.

There is no utilities for Super Mario Advance 4 except one that lets you insert decompressed levels into a save file to play on the ROM but only a certain person has that and I won't reveal who so he cannot be bothered about it since I'm sure he's abandoned that project long ago.

I'm about to consolidate everything in this thread and re-do my notes. So if anyone has anything to contribute to SMB3 or has a request for data, please make it soon. When I complete the notes, I will close this thread and open a new Ever Running General Mario Game Hacking FAQ to help ease the search for any data people may want. If someone else wants t consolidate information for other Mario games, be my guest, but I will personally be doing SMB3.

Guess who's back... back again...

Anyways, I have had three simfiles on the back burner for a while. I never did release them because I lacked the graphics. Well, here's the first one I got done with graphics (and yes, Hiryuu, I remember the CD title this time lol).

Another Cranky file (I have Party4U coming too for those who've been waiting for that).

As always, this is pad friendly but I tried to cater to the kb player a bit with the Oni.

Light - 4
Standard - 6
Heavy - 7

Doubles players! Kick ass Valcion! I'm a huge fan of doubles ever since I got decent at it...

Stepmania Online does kick ass, by the way. Me and Hiryuu are having a bit of a competition with it, and I had such a hard time getting him to get it, too.

As for my pad accomplishments for DDR, I pretty much kicked Hiryuu's ass on Ultramix 2 songs (which totally rule, by the way) and my doubles game is getting better and better...

Catas (9 footer) I can do on doubles thus far:

Burning Heat!
End of Century
Can't Stop Falling in Love
Paranoia
Paranoia Max
Paranoia KCET
Rhythm and Police
Broken My Heart
Afronova
Dance Dance Revolution (Heavy)
Speed Over Beethoven
So Deep
Drop Out
R3

And 10 footers....

Genom Screams

AA - High number of perfects with very few greats. You can get a miss and still make an AA, but it counts against you. A boo counts against you a little less and a Good doesn't really hurt you, it just takes away the number of perfects you would have gotten otherwise.

AAA - All Perfects and OKs. You can get all perfects and get an N.G. on a freeze and you won't get an AAA. AAA is perfection (at the arcade atleast, you can get AAAA on Stepmania if Marvelous timing is on. AAAA = All Marvelouses and OKs)

And on that note, I must say I KICK ASS...

I passed Legend of Max Heavy today. It was just a random chosen song by someone I Was playing with. I was totally unprepared for it, but surprisingly, I actually got through it with a C, 62 mill. So I've passed all the Max songs now (Paranoia Survivor Max isn't a Max song, mind you). Woot.

SMO works like a chat room. You have a master, one who "owns" the current game room. Games are hosted on SMO's own server, so even dial-up players can get on and not worry about lag. The "master" will kick people from the room and will make song selections. When you make a song selection, the server checks to see if everyone in the room has the same song. Subtitles DO count and matches the title and subtitle letter for letter. Once a song has been found that everyone in the room has, you must select again to confirm. Then the game starts...

During the match, everyone in the room is listed to the side. Their current combo and their grade will be listed and updated in real time through out the match. At the end, youre results are displayed. Once everyone has reported their results to the server, they're sent to you and you can view to see what everyone else in the match made. If you fail a song, you're kicked out of the room (so it's good to set fail to "off" in the options). You can play on any difficulty (so two players can be on standard, one on heavy and 6 on oni) and use any of the 'first screen' options, or mods. The second screen of options (that modify things like song speed, assistick, etc) isn't accessible.

It's really easy to get into and the server that it plays on keeps track of all players who play and even has a ranking system. The only catch is that you must create a user account at www.stepmaniaonline.com 's forums. Then you use that username in the SMO game.

Edit: Finally did graphics for this...

Finally, Party 4U...

Light - 4
Standard - 5
Heavy - 8
Oni - 9

Like woot...

Edit #2 (come on people, reply!):

Updated Doubles Cata List:

Burning Heat!
End of Century
Can't Stop Falling in Love Speed Mix
Paranoia
Paranoia Max
Paranoia KCET
Rhythm and Police
Broken My Heart
Afronova
Dance Dance Revolution (Heavy)
Speed Over Beethoven
So Deep
Drop Out
R3
*Trip Machine Luv Mix
*Ska A Go Go
*Captain Jack
*Dance Dance Revolution (Oni)
*Do You Remember Me (FUCKING HELL)
*exotic ethnic (I can do it but it's horribly messy)

Rawr...

Just played a 5th Mix machine for the first time ever... very kick ass! The song amount isn't very high, but the songs it does have kick ass. Long version of songs really take a lot out of you and for someone being do dependent on speed mods, I did really good being forced to play without them. I got 12 greats on Only You, I could probably AAA it with a bit of practice.

I passed a few 9 footers I never got to try before:

B4U Glorious Style (PAIN)
No Limit
Lupin the 3rd '78

Songs I tried but didn't pass...

Fuharata's Theme... before you say it Hiryuu, YOU try doing it without speed mods and see how well you fare.

Wonda... wtf? odd 1/16th parts I swear

And I did a few long version songs...

B4U Glorious Style
Hot Limit
Ooops! I Did It Again

I can see where everyone's raving about. The songs are very fun to play and aren't really all that hard, just very fun.

And time for another simfile release
