49... That's like... The most unlucky number in Japan, since shi=death and kyuu=suffering. You won't see any cars with 4 and 9 in their license plates, or appartments with 4 or 9 as their number in an elevator, much like you don't see 13 here in occidental countries..

Oh well.. I used to have 173, as long as I still have an oldbie account number I'll be fine

So by the anti-gay-marriage opinion, two people of the same sex must remain boyfriend-girlfriend their whole life? There's no way to make it final and they'll always be regarded as "single" legally speaking.

I think that's not only horribly selfish, it's also conservative and naive. If two people love each other and want to spend the rest of their life together, let them get married, whether they can procreate or not, whether they adopt a child or not. It doesn't matter because marriage is not something that should be taken this seriously, it is a label, it indicates the alliance between two people.

AND EXCUSE ME BUT WHAT IS THIS I HEAR ABOUT DIVORCE RATES?? 50%? You think people take marriage seriously?? Pardon my language but that's a load of bullshit. Faith in marriage has already hit an all time low, I don't even see why people complain about gay marriage -- it'll probably make the divorce rate go down for all I care.

Anyhow, just like VN I think there should be an alternative to marriage, a civil contract of engagement of some sort, like we have in european countries -- and the only reason it exists is to prevent gay-bashing shitheads from protesting.

On TV, I saw a group of christians singing in front of a city hall in which gay people were getting married. I wanted to say only one thing to them: GET THE FUCK OFF THE CITY HALL AND GO TO CHURCH, THIS IS NOT YOUR PLACE TO BE.

And finally... Gay marriage is not decadence, it's progress. PROGRESS. What I'd like to see is a more accepting society, not people who say "this should stay the same because it was made that way, if it ain't broke don't fix it"

"Then would you agree that I have the right to not have my religiously established marriage concept tampered with?"

I don't understand why it would bother you that gay couples share the right to marry when non-religious people can also get married. More Church vs. State arguments please.

Ok.. Look at Arwon's list and think. Two people are being joined together, allowing them to get many important legal rights. How can you be so heartless and think only of how it "destroys the concept of marriage???"

Legion, are you human?

Well there is still the unanswered question: Why not marriage? Why a civil union? Why should same sex couples be treated differently? Don't you think discriminating against homosexual marriage is discriminating against homosexuals themselves?

Sure they have opted for a different life than what is biologically logical -- but as different as it may be, it's still pretty much the same as any normal life, except there are two husbands or two wives... Do you understand that the only reason for a civil union instead of the word marriage would be to shut religious people up?

You know what? We have civil unions in France. You know what you can do? You don't need to go through a divorce lawsuit or anything, you go to the city hall and say "we broke up, bye" -- It's an excuse for a marriage, and doesn't have any weight at all. Cheating on your partner isn't even considered adultery.

And geeogree, we are not bashing christians, we are bashing religious folks who see marriage as a religious institution, when it fact it is divided into a legal institution and a religious institution. Gay marriage would only affect the legal part of marriage, therefore people using a religious standpoint should have absolutely NO say in this.

Well my impressions after living there for about 5 years were that new yorkers are stuck up assholes who are 100% against human contact in public places, who think only about things in terms of money, and nobody lives there unless they're pretty rich and have no kids...

It's a good city to go to when you go there as a tourist, but living there is hell. One of the true urban jungles.

There's three meanings to "adult"

- Legally
- Physically
- Mentally

Legally, you become an adult at age 18, in most countries. You have civil rights and duties that you didn't have as a (legal) child, you have to vote, your parents are not responsible for your actions, etc...

Physically, it's all about growth. I for one am an adult legally, but physically, I don't look like one at all, I still look like a kid (or a teen, if you prefer). Some people look like fully grown adults at age 16, in the US they're the ones who buy beer for their friends because they never get asked for IDs...

Mentally, maturity counts the most. Someone who watches cartoons, does drugs and laughs at stupid jokes can still be considered an adult mentally though. It's not so much about their behavior, it's more about their ability to handle things in life. It's more than having a job, having a wife/husband, being settled, it's being aware of the things that arise once you become an adult, whether it is legally or in your every day life.

My aunt for example I would say was never really an adult, she was unable to handle life from the very start. She had a lot of very short term relationships, and one day she had a slightly longer one and managed to get married, she had kids, she was settled, and seemed to be doing very well as a housewife. WRONG. She got a divorce and from there on she was unable to find a job, as a matter of fact she didn't even look for a job, she looked for a boyfriend, but it's not as easy when you're 40 or so. From there on she became very depressive, and had to get money from her parents. After spending several months in a hospital due to depression, she eventually found a small job while getting some money from her ex husband, and now that her two daughters are living on their own, she lives at my grandmother's house. I only met her a few times in my life, and all I could notice is that she kept talking like a teenager, and only really identified with her nephews and nieces, never talked much with other adults unless someone asked her a question.. Most people outside the family view her as a lunatic, but we know what's really going on, she's just a child who never grew up, she's almost 60 now and still handles life like a teenager would.

I think to be an adult you need to fill the three categories: legally, physically and mentally. I've got one and a half so far, and it sure isn't physically

My layout indicates the fact that your ass is less advanced than my website. I use it cause I dug it up from an old backup of the board, and I think it looks much better than the newer one I replaced it with, which sucked completely. That and it's a catchy yet unprofessional slogan...

The sig is my gunbound stats, it shows my ranking and all ^^

As for the text, well, my site would probably be better if the 400 visitors a day weren't people looking for game boy advance roms... So come, register, and shit.

The avatar is about 6 years old... I made it when I was using thepalace, it's like a virtual world where you walk around and chat around a 2D plane and you get to draw yourself... I had a monster from duke nukem 3d first, and then I drew that flashy hair dude... People called me a fucking christmas tree but oh well

Bonus! A later rendition flipping you off:
