| I kept thinking the $200 + price tag was going to drop or be just a bad rumor. I'm kind of dissapointed that it turned out to be true. I also keep hearing people say that people shouldn't judge the system without getting their hands on it, and not say anything about it untill they do. The bloated price tag is basically what's going to keep it *out* of the hands of many, unfortunately. Scratchable media for a handheld unit....what a terrible idea. ![]() Sony really had a chance to break into the portable gaming market and steal some of Nintendo's thunder, but that went right out the window. Like many, I wonder what this thing is going to compete against ultimately... Gameboy? Ipod? Video-NOW? *snicker* I know the Video-NOW joke was a pretty low blow, but it's all I can help but compare it too at the moment...heh heh.... |

| http://www.computerandvideogames.com/stories/playstationportable/psp_problems_right_on_the_button.html Here's a link to the discussion where Sony tells manufacturers and the public to "get used to it". How embarrasing for Sony... My favorite part.. ------------------------------- But that's no consolation for the past and future PSP owners who could suffer from a sticky Square button. Kutaragi-san seems poetically unperturbed: "I believe we have made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint on the grounds that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that." ------------------------------- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! "It's the same as that." O_o No, it's not. The position of a gate is not the same thing as the misalignment of a button on a controller. ![]() (edited by Chickenlump on 02-06-05 08:37 PM) |

| Awesome release, Geiger! This thing makes finding data in games easy. As for comparing it to Fceuxd, I'd say they compare rather well. They both do what they need to do. Both impress me, and have a permanent place in my Rom Hacking folder. I do have a question, for anyone that may have the answer... How do roms get interleaved? Is it something that certain copiers do when they dump the game? I don't know if I've ever run across one... ![]() |

Between the last two posted pictures, I'd say probably me. ![]() I had lots of coffee and have wild lookin' eyes. Your picture, Randy, looks normal however. Very non-thuggish. | I have nothing against 'level only' hacks, but I do not play them. There are far too many editors and techniques to edit so much more than just levels. Graphics, text, asm, stats, palettes, etcc.... so many other things to edit. Though it's not true in every case, I feel some level only hacks are created because people are afraid to get their hands dirty in finding data, using hex editors, or any other method of hacking that isn't included in whatever editor it is that they are using to hack the levels. Level only hacks are a good start for beginning hackers, surely. There are countless other ways to improve a game that doesn't include level hacking, and hacking ONLY the levels feels like kind of an unused pool of talent and potential. But that's just me. ![]() I'm sure other people feel strongly against my opinion, but it is just my opinion. Having said that, I have seen some stellar level-only hacks out there, with clever design and interesting ideas. I just need more. Not as in "I'm being greedy, give me more" but "Show me your true talents and lack of fear or gumption to try new things". |

| One click of a button and no worries about the header. If a person needs to edit pointers and the like, no extra recalculations will be needed. Though I'm not going to condem anyone that feels that they want the dead space, useless bytes on their ROM, I will go ahead and mention that it's kind of pointless to keep complaining or even talking about it in this thread. It's been discussed, repeatedly. It's already been decided, and in the first post, it's been made clear that it's not going to change. Bug reports, feature suggestions, comments on the program itself, and other constructive chatter would probably benefit the program more. |

| Thanks for the article on Interleaving, Geiger. It was very interesting and informative. Quite technical too..heh... The debugging window being open at all times made me kind of leary at first as well, untill I realized that the games didnt' start untill you hit the 'Run' button on the debug window. If the debugging window werent shown all the time, I'm sure some users wouldn't be able to easily figure out how to get the games to start. Perhaps the window could be shown at startup, and closed at will, and reaccessed through a menu in Snes9x... |

I actually like the idea of splitting the different features into a tabbed interface. Tracing in tab 1, debugging in tab 2, something like that. (I have an unnatural obsession with tabbed interfaces, they just rule... )Anyone found anything cool yet with this? I just found this, it's Crono's current tech effect byte in memory. I'mma try to find out where it pulls this info from in the rom. It really should be the last bit of tech data for fully editable techs... 7E93F4 - Current Tech Modifier (use cyclone) changing this will cycle through every effect in the game (and there are alot of unused tech effects in here (try 72 with Magus Frog and Crono in the party... Such a cool looking triple tech...if only it weren't so buggy... ) |

In the future, however, if you wish to put a link to your 'awesome dream come true' site in your signature area of your layout, you can still subliminally pimp out your site and not get in trouble. That would be the way to go. ![]() |

Chrono Tweaker had chest editing at one point, but I lack the time these days to complete it. I also suck at bit operations in Visual Basic (not that I didn't try, though...heh..) ![]() (this was a reply to an earlier post, which I seemed to have missed..) |

I've only managed to NOP out a few routines myself, but in this instance, it's quite handy. For the longest time, the only way to get one of the non main playable characters (such as Leo) was to just copy and paste his graphics over Edgar or something. Now I can change the event code and just recruit Leo like normal (and still be able to equip/unequip him). And this makes Umaro much less useless. ![]() |

| Unless I misunderstand, I don't think Gestahl falls under the same category as the ghosts or Biggs and Wedge and the various Moogles (and the fake Mog). Gestahl never gets controlled by the player, inside battle or out, he falls under the "Just an NPC" category. He has no stats, starting equipment, or anything else related to being a playable character. It would be like trying to play as Cid or something, they were never meant to be controllable. Whereas Umaro, Leo, Bannon, Wedge, Biggs and the Ghosts are. Each of these characters were meant to be partially controllable, and are mostly completely playable characters and can access the menu. Gestahl, like any other NPC doesn't have any sort of portrait. |

| Isn't Steal part of the enemy's AI script? I remember being able to change it to "Attack" or anything else besides Steal to make them give me their change of clothes. (I had to, my current playable character was Leo, so no steal for him) |

From what I understand, the SPC isn't in just one place. I think it's asm and placed in a few different areas that link together to output the 'song' heard. Geiger sort of explained it rather well in his Spooky West patch thread, which was unfortunately deleted. I wish that thread were archived somewhere. ![]() |
