Though not stifled by the newbies (I don't hack SMW much), I do like the idea of a 'Beginer's SMW board', with stickies filled with tutorials about Lunar Magic, ExGFX, LM Easter Eggs, etc... a board that I wouldn't have to seperate the newbie threads from the meaty new information threads. I don't know if making a sub board would be easy or even desireable to Acmlm or whoever is in charge these days, but I like the idea. Not that my opinion counts for much. :/

On the other hand, we called out for a Pokemon Forum to stop the Pokemon influx and cluttering of the Rom-Hacking board, and we got it. It is doing quite well I might add, and Rom Hacking has never looked so Pokemon-Free (a very good thing I might add) ....

It's not much of a "Community" I'll admit, but It's nice to have a hobby to take the vileness out of my life, and all you great people to learn from, and interact with occasionally. Though some people may scoff at the idea that there is a community going one here, or elsewhere, I say a community is what you can make of it yourself. If you think it's a community, then it is. If you think it's not, then it's not. If you contribute, help others out, and generally make a good name for yourself, perhaps your group will take off.

It will take more than a message board I'm afraid. Just ask Tony from TEK, he does alot to keep his idea of a community going, he still does, and he does it right. Take a good long look at everything TEK has (or doesn't have) look at what makes it tick, what it needs, and what makes it shine. A good host to start with will work wonders for your site. Erk Dog offers hosting for as little as 5 dollars a month (I beleive). Look at all that would bring to your project, more space, etc. Nobody wants to gather on a second rate free server, such as Lycos, or Angelfire, or Geocities. It cheapens the experience. BADLY. It's ok for personal web pages, but not a large scale project, such as you wish to launch. It's just way too restrictive, and will continue to be so and worsen, if you do gather more members.

I would like to see more groups up and running, yours included. But do it right. Put your heart and soul into it, and really work on it. If it's what you really want, then you will get it right eventually, but it's not going to be easy, and you will never get there without trial and error.

The desire to hack Zelda 3 is as high as it has ever been, and just as tempting and fun. Hyrule Magic's bugs and reputation for borking a hack in progress has kept most people at bay unfortunately. It is such a great game, and so much can be done with it.

The Four Swords Link looks very nice. Me like.

Although displayed graphics are very nice, I don't beleive them to be necessary for a good editor. It's more like eye candy, extra sugar, niceness, fluff. If your editor edits properly, and does all it does well, then I will offer up no complaints. Yoshi's Island is one of those few GREAT games that everyone and their brother wants an editor for, at any cost. That, and with editors such as Lunar Magic making everyone biased against anything not up to it's standard, I can imagine how tough it must be. Just keep smacking people down, and do what you can. I'm impressed by the screenshots already, they look so 'tech-ish'.

This is the most biggest and juicy helpful post I've ever seen! O_o
Great job!

Again, the problem with noobs, is that they are noobs. They don't know to read stickies first. But that doesn't make it pointless, just a simple redirect to the biggest and most juicy helpful thread evar will straighten them right out.

I reccomend you just make up with your "friend" or just not keep in touch any longer.

Your computer and all it's files will thank you.
And you won't lose important data, if he decides to really nuke you somehow.

The tool's name was UnKirby, or something similar. It decompresses more than just the levels, so if you know the offsets of the graphics, you could decompress the graphics as well. It should be on page 2 or 3.

He already has a set number of beta testers testing it for him. You are a little to late for a spot (though he may change his mind later on).

Judging from the poll results *your* opinion, as valid as it is to you, is in the minority.
The point is people want it changed. What the hell is the point? Are you blind? Did you not read the thread title? No really, didn't you? I find it humorous when people vote against the grain, and pretend like only their opinion matters. Heh. Funny stuff.

I agree that the seperation needs to be larger, I have a hard time seperating them as well.
I'm sure it would be a simple addition, or change. Less eyestrain = happier, healthier fun posting Acmlm Boarders.

Take a pill or two. Calm down.It was the majority when I wrote that. More yes than no, and the ones that didn't care didn't count. Whats the point? Look at thread title. And no flaming. Put on a big smile, and enjoy the day. I know I will.

I think I have this credited to subanark.

-------------------------
I've started to look into hack metroid zero... this is what I've come up with so far. Just curious If anyone is intresed

0875fac4 -- pointer to start room
0875E670 -- pointer array
08340ad4 -- start of entry room stuff
+0 -- palatte id
+1 -- fog?? (BG 0)
+2 -- BG 1
+3 -- BG 2??
+4 -- ??
+5 -- ??
+6 -- ??
+7 -- ??
+8 pointer to ?? (apparently not being used)
+C pointer to room data (cosmetic only, BG 1?)
-+0 width??
-+1 height (only affects room entry, will refresh just fine)
-+2 screws up game stuff if changed
-+3 horizonal shift??
-+4 ?
+10 pointer to BG 2 stuff
+14 actually room objects
-+0 width or offset??
-+2 verticly offset??
-+4 horizontal offset
+18 background pointer
+1C ?
+1D ?
+1E ?
+1F ?
+20 enemy items ect... placement Normal pointer (0860CD48)
+24 item table to use Normal (as a byte value).
-+0 y location
-+1 x location
-+2 item number in table
-+repeat...
-+? FF FF FF to signal end of array
+28 enemy items ect... placement Hard pointer
+2C item table to use Hard (as a byte value).
+30 pointer to enemy items? (0 size)

+35 x location on map
+36 y location on map
+37 background wiggles (0 is off, 1 is a lot, 9 is a little, a and bigger is off).
+3A music for room (2 bytes)
END of room... start next room

The biggest thing that I've found how to change in enemy/item location.
---------------------------------------------------

I don't remember where I found it, but that's why I collect everything I find, because there's so many sites, and so many boards....

It's good to see some activity in the GBA area.

Let it be known that the only reason I like Yoshi's Island is because of Kamek! He's too cute!

Anyway....

The outline thing sounds rather cool. Lot's of interest in YI all of a sudden is a good thing, it's a great game. (With Kamek! YEAH! ) Take your time on it though, and don't let anyone pressure you into rushing beyond your own pace. Squash Monster seems to be doing pretty good about it. I just hate seeing developers dissapear because of pressure (I've lost count of them all...but it's quite a few). Whenever you decide to show your progress, I'm sure whatever you have done will be pretty cool. Keep up the good work is getting kind of cliche...so....

Have fun with it.

In your first screenshot, everything appears to be bone dry, hasn't seen water for years, sand everywhere, and smack in the middle of the level is a platform, with lush, green, fresh grass, on a brown dirt surface......heh

Somewhat out of place.

I suggest hacking a game you like, and hasn't already been hacked to death. Any non already hacked game would be cool. Find data for it yourself, or look for data that has already been found out about it, and start from there. Theres many games with data known about them, but have no hacks, or editors, etc...
