The only time a thread goes unanswered or replied to is when nobody knows the answer. I remember the problem with Yousie's FF6 overworld tile window not showing up, but I didn't know how to fix it, or get around it. (though I do remember that when I did get it to show up, it crashed anyway, such a buggy unfinished product...bleh....so very unprofessional) I didn't want to reply in your thread with "I know of that problem. Sorry, can't help you out." I'm sure that's why nobody else replied to it as well.

Very nice changes so far. I've never played Pokemon, but I may try some of these hacks. By the way...anyone else notice all the Pokemon threads popping up? Remember the idea of a Pokemon sub-forum? Still sounds like a good idea judging from the number of Pokemon to Non-Pokemon threads on the first page alone....

If he edits his post, then your post won't make sense to anyone. Then you will have to go back and edit yours as well. Then if you do, my post won't make any sense.... It could be a vicious cycle... O_o

Not all changes require ASM hacking to do. This seems like something that could be done with pointer editing (not that I know anything about gameboy hacking, or Pokemon editing mind you), and pointer editing is a little easier than ASM hacking. Not just one pointer, but probably multiple pointers to be changed, for each monster. Graphics pointers, description pointers, etc... The blank pokemon probably have their pointers pointing to incorrect values (since they weren't going to be used) and glitch upon use. I could be horribly wrong, but this sounds more realistic, and a little better than "It all requires ASM, give up." You might find a way with enough trial and error, don't give up. And if you do give up eventually, at least you tried, and that counts for alot. ![]() (edited by Chickenlump on 07-21-04 08:03 PM)

Why give up, is a better question. From this project, you gain: - Programming experience useful for future projects - Respect from all those that can't do any of the stuff you've shown so far - People with renewed interest in YI hacking, ensuring it won't die off too quickly and many more things I'm currently forgetting. It sounds like you've put alot into it so far, it would be a shame to let it go to waste. And remember, everyone has been showing screenshots of their work in progress YI editors... I'm sure not all of them will make it to release status. And if they do, people will use all of them. Competition is good for everyone.

| Long and Hard. Anyone playing a rom hack should have beaten the original before playing the hack. I, for one, don't want to play an easier or shorter version of any game. It would be like going from FF4 Hard type to FF4 Easy type...almost.... | |||

| He showed some progress from HIS editor. He's not making it for you or any of the other restless people, and opinions of the "Make it faster, do it now, do it for ME" type can just be ignored or laughed at. Mostly laughed at. | |||

All I see is Pokemon...it burns! MY EYES!!!! Honestly though, I agree that there should be a Pokemon Forum, for Hacking and General Discussion of All Things Pokemon. (If it were just a hacking forum, it might get quiet quicker, so make it an all purpose Poke-center, so to speak) 75% or so of the Rom-Hacking forum's first page recently is Pokemon related..... *shudder* (edited by Chickenlump on 07-24-04 01:56 PM)

I've used Photobucket ever since Angelfire stopped allowing off-site linking of pictures. I've had no problems with Photobucket, and it's easy to use and offers plenty of space for your pictures. Free web-hosts do indeed need to go away, or revamp ALL of their policies and improve their services to not be so....what's that word I'm looking for.... *chickenlump remembers the word, but doesn't like to curse*

What is "Spread? What game is it for? Can you link to it? What don't you understand about it? What are you having problems with? Your post contains VERY little information, so from now on, if you have a problem with anything, and want to post about it for help, include as much information about your problem as possible, ok? Otherwise, you risk getting no replies, and no help.

Thank you Acmlm, that's much better. 53 posts already? Whoa, that's a pretty good start. I'll peek in from time to time to see if I can help anyone with general hacking questions they may apply to Pokemon. I may even play one of the darned games all the way through, who knows. I hope I don't become addicted....I've heard stories of grown men...... ![]()

Yeah, everyone has pretty much dismissed all other patching tools as obsolete since LIPS came out. It's simple, easy to use, and has never given me any errors or problems. The romhacking community is lucky to have FuSoYa around.

For it's time, MK's graphics were the greatest, and today, some people call them 'crap' because they are spoiled by todays graphics. I think no graphics are crappy, they are just an older style is all. I'm not spoiled. An older classic I've rediscovered is Oregon Trail, for Macintosh. I've been playing around with Mac emulation, system 8, and I have been playing some older Mac games that I loved in school, like Oregon Trail, and Blood Suckers, and Brickles. Wow, now that I think about it, I really want to play Number Munchers...Even though it's supposed to be educational and help you learn numbers, I enjoyed the heck out of that game...I think it's the first game I ever played as well... Anyone else remember Number Munchers and Word Munchers? ![]() (edited by Chickenlump on 07-31-04 10:46 PM)

As long as the "Tower of Smilies" doesn't happen too often, I kind of liked it. It marks the first "Tower of Smilies" I've seen in quite awhile, and it made me smile. ![]() Although 10 is a bit young to jump into ASM (or romhacking for that matter), I find it encouraging that today's youth seek to expand their knowledge and jump on in on something they know is going to be tough. Give it a go, even just to challenge and better yourself, no matter the outcome. If you fail, you've still gained experience, and respect. I know some 10 year olds that still act like their 5 and call everyone around them "Poo Poo Heads" ![]() Good luck to you. ![]()

You should know by now that ROM links are not allowed on the board. I'm no moderator or anything, but if you wish to have your threads kept open, do not post ROM links, links to ROMs, links to sites that contain ROMs, etc etc. Keep it to PMs if you are so desperate that a Google search, or a P2P program is beyond your computer skills (hint hint, that should be nobody, only the laziest of lazy perhaps..). ----edit----- Darn your quick interdpth... ![]() (edited by Chickenlump on 08-01-04 11:17 PM) (edited by Chickenlump on 08-01-04 11:17 PM) (edited by Chickenlump on 08-01-04 11:19 PM)

I think it's great that your working on it, I'd like to know how it works, if you do release any data you have found. I could care less about an editor being made from it, and that shouldn't be the reason for finding the data (not the sole reason anyway). I like finding data in games myself, finding out how they are made, secrets revealed, what makes them tick....
