| A newer version is on the way that doesn't require them. I am currently rewriting all the forms, and applying bit manipulation taught to me by Evil Peer (everything in his second post in this thread, I pretty much understand now). Meaning better ways of choosing some of the options, faster and smaller code, and hopefully a fully working Treasure Editor. Hopefully sometime this weekend. Again, sorry about the runtime problem, I started working on ridding myself of them yesterday. |

I like the standard, straight forward dialog best, and always thought Snes9x was a bit 'odd' for not using it. If it's possible to add it in and leave the old one, perhaps there could be two open dialog options, old and new. If that's not feasible, then just ignore all that blabber and take this as a 'standard' vote. ![]() |

| After years of being using a custom General Leo avatar, I decided to go on a Chrono Trigger kick, and Photoshopped me up a CT instpired avatar and layout. My avatar is a nu, with an entirely 'nu' palette (HA!) and I put im in a space-time distortion background (aka - many filters). I like the results, and look forward to using him for years to come, maybe with modifications. | |||

| I'll vote for ET, never could get out of those holes, and had no idea what to do ( I now know you had to collect parts for your ship...in those holes.. ) and there was this guy following me the whole time ( A detective? ) It made me sad as a child to play that game. I didn't know any better, and kept popping it in anyway, knowing the frustration awaiting me. |

| You did a fantastic job Anikiti, this is one of the best SMW hacks I've had the pleasure to play. Your Luigi sprites are perfectly done, and I know how tough editing Mario can be. The little touches like giving the Goombas animations for sliding down the hills made me smile. The difficulty is tough, but the level design is great, and a challenge is better than being able to beat the game in 10 minutes. Graphics not too flashy, and everything is evenly balanced, and I can't remember seeing any glitches of any kind (I'm about 8 levels in so far). Thanks for releasing this, and I hope to see more of your work. Good Job. | |||

| That is very nice looking! It's very cool how a little bit of animation can spice up and bring to life something like the map, which usually doesn't get as much attention as the levels themselves. Good job Jaspile. | |||

| VB isn't all that terrible, most of the smack talk about it is from people who are angry from working with it, and frustrated. It can't do as much as the other languages, the speed is a tad slower, and requires run time files. But I do like it. It's not bad as long as you don't attempt to do too much with it...know it's limits. I've taken a look at C# from Visual Studio 2003 and it's a cross between C++ and VB, and Java (don't know about Java though, it's just what I've heard). Very nice stuff. If you are going to program for a living, or plan on super huge projects, perhaps VB6 isn't the way to go, but for quick and dirty apps, helpfull tools, or even just to experiment with, it's not all THAT bad. |

Like a "hello world" application for both languages, and after that, more complex applications in both, and compare your experiences with them. Your bound to like one over the other for one reason or another. |

Been offline for a few weeks, sorry bout that. Yes, I've been working on a playable Schala, just haven't had too much time to work on it this last month.... bleh...Hacking Chrono Trigger is pretty easy, and maybe one day I'll make a full blown really nice hack. I too would like to see some non text edit only hacks of CT. Though this may mean I'll have to make one myself, I look forward to it. Just not right now. I'm sure there are others working on making hacks for it, hopefully more hacks will materialize soon. (edited by Chickenlump on 07-02-04 02:19 AM) |

| I do have a program I'm working on, but maps and events are beyond my meager 'skills'. Sorry bout that, just stats and misc stuff. Just look a few threads back for Chrono Tweaker thread. Though from the sounds of it, It's not what your looking for, sorry bout that. It sounds like you have big plans already though. That's good, planning out a hack ahead of time. May I ask what you have planned for it? I'm just interested is all, all I've seen lately is someone wanting to translate the entire text into Leet speak.... (I'd still play it though, just because I'm a CT fan.... ) |

| It can view and allow you to edit the graphics of ROMS for many systems. This allows you to edit and change the graphics to anything you want. Change Mario into a Koopa Troopa, edit Mario to be bald-headed with 3 eyes and a peg leg. Take graphics from other games and put them into the game you want to change, or draw your own graphics and have the game be in your own art-style. Graphics hacking can be very easy. The graphics won't show up in their normal colors, the correct colors for the graphics are applied to them when the game loads. They are called Palettes, and all the graphics have palettes applied to them, and some share the same palette (to save space). But you can load them up inside the tile editors, so you can see the graphics your editing in the correct colors. I made a small example page on that right here: http://www.angelfire.com/in3/chickenlump/yy.html I made that page to help someone else starting out who wanted to edit some Zelda graphics. Not all graphics are going to be visible for all games. Some games have their graphics compressed, sort of like the graphics are inside a zip file inside the rom. Most of the popular games have utilities that can decompress the graphics so they can be edited, and recompressed and put back in. It sounds harder than it actually is. Start off simple, then work your way up. And try multiple Tile Editors, some are better than others. |

| I'd swim over to the guy, use him as a raft to save the dog, and discard the bum's lifeless corpse when I no longer have use for him, and the dog is safe on land. Happiness is a warm puppy. *huggles puppies* |

| I really liked the sound of the patch system Vagla was working on before he left. Ips is an old system of file patching, but even though newer systems have come out, people hate to move on from the standard staples. Similar to MP3 files, there are better formats available, but nobody wants to move on. Bleh. |
