Hehe, I just came over to this board to lurk around a bit, and I discovered the new board location. Looks like I have to start all over...

I came over to Acmlm's around 2000/2001, and took my "little" break after hitting around 3900 posts. I kinda would say I'm an oldbie... Aaah... all those fun times back then... (edited by CoolMario on 03-19-04 09:27 AM) |

Hammer suit! That thing can take out anything... My 2nd choice would be metal suit, mainly because the music that plays while you're in it. |

Does anyone know where can I find a PHP and/or Javascript script that when you run the script, it converts the text you entered into an image, and uses individual image letters to build the word? Like when I enter in my HTML [img src="this and that"] it displays the text I typed in the SRC.

About a coupla weeks ago, my computer monitor started to make all these sparking noises unexpectedly along with a black screen for a few seconds. Until now, I've been trying to let the monitor rest for a couple of minutes, but still does it. It's been happening more frequently, and I am afraid that the monitor might blow up in my face ... Anyone know what's causing this? Oh yeah, I use a NEC AccuSync 70 monitor. |

The monitor finally died out on me... I guess I'll buy a new one. Thanks anyway.

I have two computers, and I am unable to boot on one of them (I am posting using my other computer). I get this error when I try to start Windows XP, first bringing me to the startup screen saying something like: "We're sorry for the inconvienience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent software or hardware change might have caused this" Then it gives me the option to boot from Safe Mode, normally, or last known good configuration. I try to boot normally, and it gives me this "blue screen of death" type message: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME ... (some instructions it gave me) ... *** STOP 0X000000ED (C0X8130EC30, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000) It gave me steps to solve this problem, but they were no help to me. I've rebooted the computer using Safe Mode and Last Known good Configuration, but they still ended up in the blue screen. I've looked up what the error message means, it says something about the file system being damaged, or that I am using a wrong Ultra Direct Memory Access controller (UDMA) cable. I know that my hard drive had worked before and I know that I am not using a wrong UDMA cable. And it says that if the 2nd parameter of the stop error is 0xC0000032, then it's a file system error. What is a 0XC0000006 error, then? I do not wish to reformat the hard drive, and any help will be greatly appreciated. |

Originally posted by elixirnova It's alright, I already have formatted it, and I have it up and running just fine. Thanks anyway I've learned a valuable lesson in this... always back up your data! Don't think that it won't ever happen to you, because it can! |

1. I plan on downloading a 6.58 GB file onto an external hard drive pre-formatted with FAT32. I heard that the maximum file size for a FAT32 drive is 4 GB, and an NTFS drive can hold far larger than that. Is that true? If so, how much larger? 2. I also plan on converting my FAT32 external hard drive (which is a Western Digital, capacity 120 GB) into an NTFS drive, and I heard it's possible without formatting using a utility supplied with Windows XP. Is there anything I should know about before converting, like defragmenting or scanning the disk for errors? I'm a bit afraid that the conversion could have some data loss, and I'd like to convert flawlessly, I have gigs of data on that drive that I don't want to lose. |
