Okay, little update. I got around to buying the proper type of battery, assuming you meant something like a 2032 Lithium, i just replaced what I had with a match. I didn't see any other batteries on my board. That hasn't worked on its own. I'm going to look at my manual about a full bios reset.

I might look into another power supply, as that was one of my initial problems when building the computer, I ended up having to replace the first one I bought after like a week, it had turned out to be faulty.

As for the main hard drive, yeah it's pretty old, circa 1996. It was carried over from my first computer, which I got for free. I don't use it for anything except running windows, so it's pretty much expendable. Only 2.4 GB. I have a 20GB replacement waiting anyway. But removing all my HDs and several other pieces of hardware, including RAM, did not make my BIOS show up. So at this point I'm thinking it's either the MB or the PSU if this bios reset thing doesn't pan out.

Yiffy Kitten: I have heard that beeps can give diagnostic error information, unfortunately when I was fitting my comp into its case about 2 years ago, the wires to the speaker jumpers were severed by accident, and I have no expertise in such matters. But, I might buy a replacement case sometimes soon.

Thanks for everyone's help so far, I hate hardware problems.

I tried out a new power supply, didn't fix anything. Gonna try out a new motherboard tomorrow, and if that doesn't work, I'm calling in my AMD warranty, since it's been about 2.5 years and it's got a 3 year warranty . I can't even find any warranty info about the motherboard for some reason.

Ah, Dick Cheney is skilled in the art of asshole.

The more I hear about Gitmo, the more I dislike it, and while I acknowledge that we are in a war and the people held there are dangerous enemies, I think if we start making ourselves a target for war crimes style accusations, and they end up being true, we'll have even more of an insurgency problem in the future, as well as decreased support abroad. Hopefully the press coverage will keep Gitmo employees in line, while still doing their job of intelligence extraction.

At the very least I can say we don't video tape ourselves beheading our detainees.

Yes b/c "para" alone is quite descriptive. Obviously once he says paraparaparadise you've got something googleable.

Well in real life I wouldn't force people to read purple text on a black background.

Lucky for me I have a habit of highlighting everything I read online.

But either way, I would say I act much the same as I do in real life. If I don't know a community well, I'm reserved. The longer I've been around, the more open and wacky I'm willing to be, but it depends on the environment certainly.

Like many things, you get what you want out of the internet. if you're there for business, you'll find business, if you're there for pleasure, you'll find it.

Generally what are the ways to save user preferences into an .exe file? If any. I know the conventional way would be to use an external file, but I can do that, I just want to know the answer to thie question.

So for example, I'm currently writing a program that has a toggle button associated with a boolean. But I when the program shuts down I want it to remember the state of that variable, i.e. store it somewhere internally. Also other things, like the position of the window, would be nice. Anyone got any ideas?
