That's weird. I mean, there has to be some reason for this person to be messing with you. Boredom, a desire to show off, etc. Glad to see you're not just putting up with it though. Just be careful how much you retaliate. Don't want to screw up your grades/school and reputation.

Slavophiles sounds like people in favor of Slavic culture, as opposed to Western European influence on Russia. But yeah, if you want to do well on AP tests, you usually have to get their AP Test preparation manuals (they're very good, actually). Kind of a scam if you ask me, since it's nearly impossible to be sure you have all your bases covered unless you buy these manuals - from the same company that writes the tests. 4 years ago, I took the Calculus BC (got a 5), took Chemistry (got a 4), and took French Language (got a 2). I'd like to note that the higher scores match classes where I was introduced to some form of AP Test prep questions, and for the Calc BC my teacher bought us all the manuals and solution books. How nice of him . Got me out of 8 credits (2 semesters) of college calculus. |

Meh. If you want to really stand out, wear a dress. I've seen it done before, and you'll attract a lot more attention.

There are some situations where one of the answers might not make sense. Particularly in word problems. what if the solution is supposed to be the length of a piece of wood, or the age of a tree? Then -4 doesn't sound very reasonable, does it? In those cases you regard the extra solution as "extraneous" and discard it.

Maybe 10 years ago I would say it was pretty good. But since then I've discovered Mellow Yellow, and Surge, though I'd say Mellow Yellow is my favorite of the three. |
Now Mellow Yellow tastes like ass, and I'd only drink it if I bought it by accident, or it was free. Even worse is the diet flavor *seizure*.

^ I heard that myth, but it was in regards to Mountain Dew doing that. |
Then again, some people require a penis reduction, you could try looking for Surge in that market...

As someone who routinely visits mathworld for help on stuff, I'm not surprised that Mathworld's explanation seems confusing. Their site is practically useless when it comes to learning things. But if you want to review, or get exact definitions, it's pretty good. Planetmath is a little more for non math type people, as it explains things in less technical terms usually. |

Why is it when stuff like this happens, my first thought it "we have modern technology, shouldn't there be a way to prevent stupidity of this sort?" |

I thought Code Red was okay at first, but the more time passes, the worse it tastes to me. I view it as a novelty drink, and am surprised it has stayed on the market this long. Some buffoons out there apparently like it enough to buy it regularly. (a lot of them.) |

I had a mom who was cool enough to let me take "Mental health days" in high school, meaning I could take a day off when I wanted. Up to 10 per semester. (Otherwise I'd fail, it was school rules.) Thus, i never really skipped class. 1. b/c I could just sleep in class if I wanted to. and 2. I didn't really feel like finding somewhere to go hide out. |
In college I've found that skipping class is a one way ticket to fKitten Yiffer, unless your classes are blowoff classes.

Bah. I don't understand your collective negativity towards group hacks. Group hacks are actually easier b/c you don't all have to do everything yourself. They do require more communication, but the payoff is worth it. The only other major drawback is conflict of creativity. You won't have full creative control over the project, it will be distributed, but sometimes that is a good thing, I think. |

Well I found it to be nearly what I expected. Some responses to selected parts: |
For the most part, liberals who cry racism at every turn are racists themselves, choosing to exploit the issue of skin color whenever they feel it will afford them some sort of political or social advantage. In fact, they are even more dangerous, potentially, than neo-Nazis or the KKK, because they don't admit they're racists. At least you know a skinhead when you see one. I've seen this sort of rhetoric before, and frankly I think it's a load of bullshit. This only applies to politicians, and the grand majority of people are not politicians. And the statement that they are more DANGEROUS THAN NEONAZIS OR THE KKK IS SIMPLY RETARDED. Some explanation for that remark is in order, though the rest of it makes sense, in some way. How are they more dangerous to minorities than the people who want to KILL THEM? Patriotic Americans also understand that you can't build up your country if you spend all your time trying to tear it down, and I've yet to meet a liberal who hasn't attempted to wreck some aspect of American culture at some point in their lives. This... just doesn't make sense at all. It paints a picture of liberals as being nihilists, who want to totally destroy America. But they are usually progressives who actually want to change it for the better. Sometimes culture has to change with the times, I would hope most people would agree with this at least in some cases. Either way, I choose to not be openly patriotic b/c I don't get enthused about it, really. Being a citizen of a country is like being in a family. You're born in to it, so you really can't go against it, or you're branded a traitor. It's your default team, and you have to root for it. Patriotism in this country is born of the understanding that we are among the most honorable and decent people on earth, in spite of our flaws, and it's kept alive by an overwhelming desire to make sure that our children are left with at least as much freedom and prosperity as we enjoy. The above is a matter of opinion. I personally believe it to be true, but I'm sure a citizen of nearly every country in the world would hold the same view of their own people. edit: I think the article would have more kick if it named some names; just leveling these claims at the broad term 'liberals" reduces it to a ridiculous generalization of a lot of people. However, i'm not totally ripping on the article, b/c I can see where the writer is coming from. (edited by MathOnNapkins on 05-14-05 08:07 PM) |
