| Don't mention it. In fact, I think I may use this in the future for some of my hooks when I run into such problems. Luckily almost all code is designed to run in 8bit mode or 16bit mode. If you want, you can just write MON = MathOnNapkins, it's easier to write and I go by it aswell. | |||

| HM only opens games that are certifiably Zelda3, so I doubt it would. I can check some time. Either that or its just checking for a header. Either way, I doubt if would find anything b/c the data it looks for is probably hardcoded. | |||

| A good portion of kids (even at "good" schools) start having sex around 7th grade or earlier. And that was when I was growing up (I'm 22). Who knows how young it's gotten. You think they're too innocent to be dealing with this stuff or something? Better they learn how to protect themselves from STDs, pregnancy, and all that jazz before they get in worse trouble, I say. Sure, not everyone is going to have sex that early, but choosing not to educate is simply looking the other way, and hoping nothing bad will happen. Out of sight, out of mind, as is often said. | |||

| So did you ever have it as a child? I can't remember but I thought you grew up part of your life in Japan or something, which might explain not getting it. I got it around age 8 or 9 I think. | |||

Originally posted by HGanon The issue is not who is better at explaining things, but rather, who will get the information. Are you suggesting that we make a law where parents are required to teach their kids sex ed? Parents are uncomfortable enough addressing this. Besides, the probability that all parents are informed enough is extremely low. However, it is required for kids to go to school by law until they reach a certain age. There is certainly no way that is more efficient and effective as educating in this fashion. As windwaker has stated, the effectiveness comes in the form of statistics - std/aids prevention, prevention of unwanted pregnancies (yes, many people think they won't get pregnant for whatever ignorant reason). Wouldn't you say that saving lives, and preventing unwanted children (who are likely to be aborted or born into poverty) outweighs this thing you've made up called "the parents' right to do sex education"? Then again, you could argue that this whole business just causes more people to have sex. However, I do believe that if a parent wants a child to turn out a certain way, they will set the moral compass on that. Sex education doesn't encourage you to have sex, it just tries to make you informed in the case that you will. If anything, sex education scares the crap out of me. Originally posted by HGanon First of all, to see actual sex happening, they'd have to be looking at porno. Second, the portion of porn that uses condoms is so low as to be nonexistent. In addition, almost no shows on normal TV exhibit the use of condoms while having pseudo sex, i.e. basically softcore dry humping with little to no frontal nudity. TV does not care about teaching you sex ed. There are, however, some shows that do go into details of this sort, such as Sue's sex show on Oxygen (don't ask, I hang around a lot of females), and my messy bedroom on Free Speech TV. Originally posted by HGanon Isn't that "telling people the right way to have sexual intercourse" as you stated a dislike for in your very first post? You're obviously opposed to 'sodomy' but what about lesbianism? Is that okay b/c it's hot or something? Either way, you're arguing that sex ed shouldn't even mention homosexuality b/c the act is viewed as wrong by a majority of religions. But it is not the job of the state to impose those religious opinions onto all its citizens. You may say, well why do we even bother having laws then? B/c the majority of laws are designed to protect people, whereas homosexuality in and of itself does no overt harm to anybody. You are forgetting that parents have far greater sway over the minds of their children than the school system. Most children will grow up to have the political mindset of their parents. Most children will have very similar views on other issues, unless there is a split between the parents. My parents are split on the abortion issue, so for a long time I had a hard time talking to them about it, lest I offend one or the other. Suing teachers/professors for that stuff sounds reasonable, Or for even worse things like that professor who called for more terrorist attacks on people... You think it's acceptable to sue someone b/c of the opinion they have? The laws being considered deal with disciplining professors who treat students with differing opinions unfairly. Which, I agree is acceptable b/c it qualifies as harassment. Btw, which professor "called for more terrorist attacks on people"? I did some googling and I found no such comments, though in the paper in the past month or two there have been some articles on how a certain professor published a paper suggesting that the September 11th victims were part of the Bush administrations plan to take over the Muslim world, and he foolishly compared them to a part of the Nazi party, I forget what the german word was though. But what you have stated is just insane, and probably an exaggeration of some other story. Nobody has the balls (and hopefully the viewpoint) to say something like that. | For the love of Mary and Joseph please stop mixing internet stuff like OMG in with otherwise intellegible writing. It's harder to take you seriously when you do that, especially in this forum. And yes, I do believe that people are often blinded by their religion when it comes to dealing with laws. I guarantee if we had mormons running the nation that pop and coffee would be banned everywhere. Not that I care that much about things like that, but what one person finds acceptable is not always law. I think laws should be meant to protect people from others, and even from the government, rather than controlling their behavior. |

| HGanon: So you're saying Marriage = Love + Pragmatism? That people only get married to love each other AND make babies... If that's the definition, it seems trivial to allow gays to marry, for many of them want to be adoptive of orphans and such. There are lots of kids in the foster circuit who could use an adoptive set of parents. So obviously such a family would serve a purpose, in putting forth more units capable of raising children. Your argument boils down to "It shouldn't be marriage because people have never "married" that way before." Which is essentially closemindedness, not morals or ethics. Please be frank, these couldn't possibly be your actual views on the matter? |

| This initiates a DMA channel write (writing to $420B). In all likelyhood (in fact almost definitely) the dma process is accessing that address. Why it crashes, I have no idea. | |||

| The next natural question is which TWO OS-tans would you prefer? I'd probably take Mac OS 7.5 and OS X. The latter is sexy, and the other knows how to work it. |

| Well don't jump to conclusions just yet. I know every time I get sick I feel like I'm going to die, but it's probably just paranoia or whatever. Eitherway I hope you're all right. (edited by MathOnNapkins on 03-30-05 03:33 AM) |
