| Well, not that I like seeing boards torn to shit and deletered, at least the hackers do one good thing, which is raise awareness for security issues. Bitching and moaning won't do any good, hunkering down and learning about security will. I mean I don't approve of what the hackers do, but using Acmlmboard you're pretty much a sitting duck unless you work to keep it safe or are this board. I don't think y'all should depend upon this board for security updates that trickle down every now and then. Good to see people like Dekker making things available to the community. But wait, I am 5050 posts ahead of Legion, why that means I must have at least 5000 posts! But this provides a contradiction, as I am only at about 1550. Therefore the world explodes. Or at least the board. Proof by contradiction rocks man.

As a general piece of advice, if a thread is a month old or older, it's not a good idea to bump it on this board, even if you're adding input. You'll get a mod mad at you sooner or later. You can tell how old it is by looking at when the last post was in the timestamps. |

So what if somebody else gets attacked? If they didn't know about the problem, they will after the attack. I don't think it's better to let people idle away in ignorance of the insecurity of their boards. Like I said earlier, getting attacked by hackers, while a major pain in the ass, as I saw what it did to TEK which eventually switched over to phpbb as a result of them, brings these issues to the forefront. As Dan has pointed, security by obscurity is not a good idea, and that is what you are proposing, Laxid. |

Barret is by no means a genius. From the limited material of his I've sampled, including stuff not on any album, it's sad to say but he's just a burnout. Sure, his music is creative and fun to listen to a lot of the time, but it is not terribly deep, imo. Now, philosophically, you could make the case that Roger is fairly shallow too, but it's just a rock band for chrissakes. I feel that Roger connects with me more than either Dave (blech) or Syd. |
And you can't give all the credit to Syd, even for his psychadelic work, b/c there were many songs that Roger also worked on and coauthored. I won't vote b/c I don't know anything about the talking heads.

Back in the day when I was learning about emulation one type of emulation caught my eye, dynamic recompilation. I've been wondering if it would be possible to have a real time debugger "convert" whole portions of 65816 opcodes to the ARM native assembly. Something to think about, but probably a pipe dream. |
But the sheer thought of a program to do SNES -> GBA rom conversion is pretty silly when you think about it.

I have a theory on why people behave the way Cruel Justice has pointed out. From the point of view of a working class person or someone without the ability to go to college, college students are the priviledged class. (Which is bunk, I know. Many people pay for college themselves or take out massive amounts of loans) Perhaps they anticipate that you think you are better than them, and are simply jumping the gun and trying to show you that they have the same attitude. |
