By "obvious" sequence breaking I mean things like the inclusion of speed blocks in conspicuous places for the sole purpose of providing a different route. When you add alternate paths that do not seem to offer anything other than the opportunity to sequence break that is stupid. stupid stupid. More authentic feeling sequence breaking would involve using moves you know how to do in unexpected ways to get items/achieve other goals earlier than expected. The reason sequence breaking was guaranteed to not be very interesting in ZM is b/c very few moves were added. in fact, almost none, really.

And thus, glitched sequence breaking is usually the most interesting b/c even a game designer would rarely see it happening. like being able to avoid breaking the maridian tube to complete SM. That takes insight and glitches.

. To me, not voting is basically the same as saying you don't care. Please vote next time. Your attitude is the same as my brother's and all his friends'. Honestly, I think if most of those type of people changed their attitude and just went out and voted it would make a huge difference. Because... you meet soooooooooo many people like that, no joke. It's sad.

What's even more sad is this:

From an e-mail I received on November third, 2004.

* * * ELECTION DAY IS HERE: VOTE ON NOVEMBER 2nd * * *

It's true --
Election Day 2004 has finally arrived. If you haven't already voted
early or voted absentee, then today's the big day. A few final words
of friendly advice:

* Double-check your polling place location.

* Find out what times your state's polling places open and close,
and then plan your voting day and time in advance (Hint: lines are
often the shortest during the beginning of the day.).

* Bring your photo ID and letter or bill with your address on it
(just in case you need them).

* If your name isn't on the registration list at your polling place,
be sure to ask for a "provisional ballot" so that you can vote.

* Don't forget to proudly wear your "I VOTED" sticker!

Thank you for participating in democracy -- we'll see you at the
polls.

Sincerely,

The Declare Yourself Team

=======================================

That is fucking priceless. Thanks Declare Yourself Team, your message was well utilized, I received it almost 24 hours after polls opened and 12 hours after the polls closed. Fricken amazing.

Note: I did actually vote, by absentee, in case that was confusing.

Posted on 11-03-04 02:36 PM, in Acmlm Board Flooding Link
I am curious as to the status of flood protection on acmlm boards. This is inspired by a recent attack at Infinines which actually ended up with SyntaxLegend getting fed up with his board and closing it. Several users from a rival board registered on his board and began flooding with offensive thread titles/threads in an attempt to kill it. They created thousands of posts in a short period of time. While that didn't actually do anything significant, it did result in Syntax shutting his board down at least for a while it seems.

My question is, is there any way to effectively lockdown this flooding behavior. I'm not an admin or anything so I don't know much about the capabilities. One or two spammers is manageable as you can ban them and trash/delete their threads. In that instance they had 6 to almost 10 users spamming relentlessly. If they'd get around to banning one or two, a few more would show up.

Well if there isn't I think there ought to be a "martial law" type feature that limits the number of threads posted in X amount of time for all users, and would route new registrations to admins for review before posting is accepted. Any thoughts?

They're not actually going to go kill the guy. Aren't republicans the gun owners anyways?

Crime states eh? Might that be because they have MORE PEOPLE? Did you ever think of that? Putting more people together always raises the chances of crime. Dirty celebrities... no one cares what celebrities think. Unless they're an idiot.

And maybe conservatives are always for the Christians. That makes sense given the massive numbers of Muslims we have killed in the past few years. Wonderful really. Making war with a country and raping their economy, forcing them to live certain way, is really Christian, I'm glad you englithened us. Let's not even mention dropping tons of uranium upon them to sicken them even further. I'm glad we have the Christians in power.

Yes they do cater to Christian values like being pro-life, and encouraging church charities and such. But that's exactly what they do - cater. If you feel fine with that and then letting them free to go around the globe killing and taking resources from whoever, so be it.

Edit: Whoops sorry forgot about Gay marriage. That's a big deal to lots of people, me excluded. Though I'm not really for it either.

I'm sorry, when did we drop tons of uranium on a country? Please oh please enlightn me as to when we opened up atomic warfare like that. If you're refering to STRATEGIC bombings, let me tell you a little something about that. As many civilians as possible are cleared from the area. Only military instillations or places where enemy forces reside are targeted. If things happen, it's because of a mistake or people didn't leave. And what "massive numbers of Muslims" are you talking about exactly? The extremists who AREN'T muslim? The people who love violence which goes against everything the muslim religion holds dear? I don't think so.

I'd appreciate it if you, MathOnNapkins in particular, would refrain from generalizing about people you know nothing about, about issues you obviously don't comprehend, with absolutely nothing to back up your statements.

When you drop bombs on people the casings have a good deal of Uranium left over. It's a mechanism that makes the bombs better and penetrate more. But what happens is after a bombing, native Iraqis will find these casing and use them to drink out of, not knowing what they are. And thus many of them are getting sick from this. I wasn't talking about a nuclear bomb or anything. Stragetic bombings? Since the war began at least 30,000 iraqis have died, and some estimates reach 100,000 people or more. That is a shitload of people. Buy the sound of it that's a lot of civilians, I doubt most of those are military/paramilitary/insurgents given the daily body counts. I also never said that we were targeting innocents, but I think the reality is far beyond the claim of "minimizing civilian casualties".

And who am I generalizing about? You're generalizing about me stating that I don't understand the issues, but you didn't mention what issues. I'm somewhat insulted. My claim is that voters who vote for Bush may have voted for him on Christian issues in the domestic domain, but without any regard to how he operates in the foreign domain.

But yes I will concede that people who are in Iraq will know more about it and what goes on over there. I'm not going to go over to Iraq JUST to see what's going on. We get information and have to choose what information to trust. I believe that your intention, Mr. Raistlin, in bombing are to minimalize civilian casualties. Do you think your military officers and command are always honest with you about everything though? Do you speak Arabic and ask households how many relatives they've lost? And if I'm wrong about that I apologize. And no I don't live with my parents thank you very much. In fact, I was thinking about applying for the NSA after I graduate from college - to fight the "war on terrorism". Looks like it'll have plenty of job security now that Bush was re-elected.

Tcch, if there's a draft there's a draft. Many democracies around the globe MAKE you join the army for a year or two - barring any health problems. I think we're spoiled personally.

Joining the military doesn't always mean you are being sent somewhere to kill someone. And the countries I'm talking about require military service regardless of a time of war or not.
