Hey, don't chastize Kagerato for speaking the truth, Kawa. There are FAQs on how to not ask dumb questions. There should be FAQs on how to not make dumb comments.

Posted on 08-21-04 12:01 PM, in possible depression? Link
I'm not home that often, but lately it seems that my mother is acting agitated for no reason at all. When anyone questions her about anything she says she blows up at them. She likes to play games like Scrabble and Euchre on her computer for hours at a time and doesn't get much exercise as far as I can tell. She'll play these games sometimes to the point where she doesn't eat dinner. Her mood swings from good to bad and half the time I can't figure out what is going on with her. She's already had menopause btw so I don't think it's related to anything menstrual.

Generally I am worried that she could be depressed. Her father died in the past year, and while she wasn't that close with him, I wonder if she is secretly grieving about him or someone else that died over 10 years ago - her brother. Any ideas on how to approach her?

While I am no expert on HM, I know you can edit Link's palettes directly. Once you copy in your image you should try tweaking those to get the desired effect.

Getting a good amount everyday goes a long way towards better sleeping, as long as you exercise earlier in the day, and not half an hour before going to bed.

There's a very simple proof that the number of primes is infinite.

I do wonder why people keep track of prime density though. I would think that it would approach zero as the number of primes went up. (Edit: well when I think about it maybe not.)

Posted on 08-25-04 12:03 AM, in What is it with the Inns? Link
There are some games that will charge you more at the inn if you are more damaged/ depleted of MP. I believe FF2j does this. That makes sense given you would need more time to recover.

My view of HP has come to be that it is a threshold for a person not getting injured. That is, say I have 999 HP, then I can take 999 points worth of blows, stabs at my armor, etc., before I get seriously injured. Suppose that you are not tired - it's much easier to avoid attacks and lessen the damage incurred in that state. HP could thus also be a measurement of fatigue. An extremely fatigued person, when hit/cut/whatever would probably pass out.

edit: btw, probably the most risque "inn" scenario is in Chrono Trigger. You take some girl home, introduce her to your mother, and proceed to... go take a nap with her? uhh huhhh.....there's only one bed in Crono's room.

well horry shit.

That's probably cheaper than going to e-bay (for two pads). The best price I've seen there is 259.99 or so, and that's with $99 shipping. And considering that you might not win the auction, you'd have to buy it for around $269.99. Hence you save like sixty to seventy dollars on two pads.

wait....

You have items in your cart that can not be mixed with other products. Also please note that those items may only be delivered within the European Union. Please remove the items accordingly and put them into a seperate order if appropriate.

d'oh . Can't buy em'. (edit: not that I have that much money to blow atm) Gotta move to Europe I guess.

They've been releasing these "gameboy advance movies" of late. I don't want to watch them because they are.... ahem.... pokemon, but I think that's a cool concept that a little machine like that can do that.

And unless there's some hot new releases for gba, i don't see the reason to puzzle over a lack of rom releases. Just take it as it comes.

Dunno. I'm always inclined to believe that some dumb asshole would add incorrect information. Perhaps a more privately managed wiki would be more appropriate. One where you have to register to see and use it, and can be banned for posting crap that is incorrect.

Since our counting systems are by convention in base 10, it makes a hell of a lot more sense to use a base 10 metric system. I'm guess I'm failing to see your point, other than that a base 12 counting system is more efficient to write down than a base 10 system. Let's make sure we're on the same page. The "imperial" system is the same as the english system, as in inches, feet, yards, gallons, etc, right? If so, then what is "Base 10-imperial" supposed to mean? Just the fact that we (Americans) use base 10 to count and use it with the imperial system? :|

Now, for us programmers and rom hackers, a hexadecimal metric system might be nice. In fact it would rule. "I would like 1B Liters of gas please."

Yes and no. A lot of the chain installations did get rid of it. I suspect in places where health concerns are part of the public consciousness, such as large to medium cities. However, I was in southern michigan a while ago, which is not developed by any American standard, and they still had the supersize option in place. So probably in the more backwater areas no one gives a shit.

hmm... you might try taking the meal you eat and splitting it up into smaller meals throughout the day. I think my body has been thrown out of whack before from only eating 1 or 2 meals a day. Now I try to eat three meals but smaller in size.

I ought to read more than I do now. When I was in high school I read a lot of "classic" and modern novels, some for fun but mostly for school credit. Of late I've mostly read Greek plays, such as those by Euripides and Aristophanes.

If you've never read it you ought to read The Scarlet Letter. It's probably the best book I've ever read. The language can be a bit thick b/c it's a bit old, but definitely worth it. Lots of books by Steinbeck are good but they can get a bit redundant after you've read a few. And if those all sound boring to you just read some books by Kurt Vonnegut (jr.) I'd recommend Cat's Cradle.

I dled the seminar b/c I was bored. Though my computer has no sound (I'm at a campus comp), I can tell it was utter bs, just from watching it. Why do creationists have such a bone to pick with scientists that support evolution? Do most creationists study such things? Would you trust a hair dresser to tell you all about the specifics of cosmetics marketing? No b/c it's not their specialty. And though they have a right to be skeptical, you'd think they could be a little more open minded then blindly trusting the Bible for everything. IMO that's idolatry - listening to a book more than to your heart and mind, what your real life experience says to you. Does it really make sense that with such a vast and seemingly old cosmos that it was all made ~4600 years ago?

And it seems there's another trend in religious "science" lately, this notion that we have to be watching how our newest "science" points to the existence of God. The philosophers (philosophers typically have massive IQs) couldn't do it [prove the existence of God], what makes us think that physical science will?
