Chickenlump: Yes via ASM hacking. Are you sure it works in all areas? Like I said what I've done works in pretty much all areas except the sandpit. It seems to be using a slightly different routine to trigger the battle music data. But hell I only worked on it for like a couple hours at most.

hmmm... some good questions but I've never looked for these things myself. I might have some related information but it will take me a while to dig it up.

Well since these assholes weren't operating under the pretense of doing something Christian, it's really not a blow to Christianity. However, I went to a Catholic school for high school and some kids from my grade started leaving hydrocloric acid bombs on people's porches. They got caught and suspended and sent to juvy. You can bet the media was all over that. When you have a reputation (in this case Christian schools generally have a better reputation), it's that much easier to get smeared. So I'd say it more hurt the public relations for the school.

eh... she got $1000 from her dad in one day which means her parents are rich. It may just be her upbringing to be stingy with money, even if she knows at heart she should pay you. She probably just realized she was being a scrooge and gave in. I know at least one girl who's a sweetheart but you can never get a dime out of her... in spite of the fact that she's loaded.

Pretty much everything looks amazing. Even that Link walking animation looks better than it seemed to a while ago. Though, I can't figure out the new look of the stones in front of Link's house O_o. I would suggest trying to give them a little more defined look. They almost look like tomb stones, but I don't think that's what you were going for.

That's great news . Glad you made it.. though I had an aquaintance who died of ... I think it was Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 13. poor kid. It was either what you had (non hodgkins) or it just wasn't treatable at that time (about 8 years ago).

Well if you look at the code immediately after that you'll notice that there's a check on $7EF2F0.

LDA $7EF2F0

AND #$20

BNE END (same location as in G. Zhi's post)

basically if bit 5 of $7EF2F0 is set, that means Misery Mire has been opened. And you won't be able see rain ever again, the way this is coded, if Misery Mire has in fact been opened. Keep that in mind. In the future we will need to find a way to make rain more dynamic than this. Gideon's suggestion to remove this check I wouldn't recommend, I believe means you won't be able to turn off the rain. $7EF3C5 is a sort of progress indicator. It has value 1 after you get a sword from your dying uncle. It has value 2 right as the Mantle opens up in the sanctuary. Having it anything less than 2 will trigger rain in the overworld.

It seems to me that "terrorism" is something people in power probably don't want to stop. Why? Because it gives the administration an excuse to do almost anything to combat it. And extraneous goals can be sneaked in without criticism. Is this reality or am I just paranoid? It's hard to tell, but we've got ourself into something that won't end for a long time. My brother thinks it wasn't even Muslim extremists that bombed London. It's hard to know what to believe anymore.

As for reasons... I believe there are reasons but I haven't figured them out yet. They hate America and other "western" nations, but why? There are vague reasons that are commonly known, such as our sponsorship of Israel, our presence in Saudi Arabia (which don't forget Osama Bin Laden is from), and a few others. But are these adequate explanations to murderous killing sprees? There are some considerable factors, but it doesn't seem to add up to radical violence. My favorite stupid response is that they hate our freedoms, that somehow Islam is naturally at odds with democracy or some shit. Sounds like an excuse more than an explanation.

The guy who made it was SEPH (that's his current name). The link to the FAQ is in his profile here.

I usually turn off some layouts if it causes me significant wait time for it to load (even on broadband). I think I have ziff, legion, Kitten Yiffer, and tarale's layouts off b/c at some point they took forever to load. I don't forgive, either. But I leave the other ones one.

There's nothing more annoying than someone who likes you and the feeling isn't mutual - and they can't take a hint. I'd rather love someone b/c then at least I can fantasize and dream. In the other case they won't leave me alone unless I tell the girl to fuck off (which I'm much too nice to doo ).

Posted on 07-29-05 09:32 AM, in Just got done reading about ASM.... Link
You'd have to find a C compiler that outputs into 65816 machine code. ASM is not one programming language. It's the language for whatever processor you happen to be trying to code for. In this case, x86 is certainly out of the question b/c it's the wrong machine!

I believe FreeDos mentioned a C compiler for 6502 a while back, not sure how available one for 65816 would be. Though I think Neviksti mentioned one that LordTech made. That was probably a long time ago too, and it uses really weird compilation from what i've heard.

You're better off learning some basic assembly and grabbing a command line program like ASM2HEX or Xkas.

Posted on 07-29-05 09:46 AM, in Making a Modded SNES OS using ASM Link
Operating System is sort of loosely defined, however, an SNES will not run anything without a cartridge. That said, I'm sure it has some small ROM chip with boostrap instructions on how to start the machine up and get all the processors going. Almost any device will have that, however. PSX and PS2 have what I would refer to as a BIOS, since you don't really install or add software to expand it. NOt really an OS, per se.
